I actually got my lazy self out of bed this morning to go to spin, was getting ready and thought "hhhmmm...better check the site for cancellations" (I've been burned before) and sure as shit, it's canceled. Bummer. I have to take my mom out shopping today which sucks because I'd rather stay home, BUT she has to go out because she has to get something to take for the outing she's leaving for at FOUR THIS AFTERNOON. A Saturday evening to myself. le sigh.

A friend just posted this on FB, re: the Pope visit:
"Dear Philly, please don't fuck this up.
As a city, we get away with a lot of shit. We mugged a goddamn robot last month, for Christ's sake. But, please, I'm begging you, let's be more the City of Brotherly Love this weekend and less the assholes that throw snowballs during an Eagles game. Mmmmkay?
Anybody else have that same feeling? Like you're bringing your college roommate home for Thanksgiving while praying your creepy Uncle Donny doesn't get drunk and try to grab her ass during dessert?"

We're going to the Garlic Festival today!!! I can't post it on FB since we bailed on a birthday party (it's a little more complicated than that but these people wouldn't understand) but I can post it on here!
I'm picking up some Italian Red if I have to steal it from an old lady.

My in-laws are mercifully gone and I have nothing else to do this weekend. I can't remember my last free weekend. I need to go for a long ass walk. All I did yesterday was eat.

We had to go to a visitation this morning for a childhood friend of dh. They went through all of scouts together, got their Eagle Scout at around the same time, and spent many, many summers at camp together. Friend had moved away so they'd lost touch but dh is really sad about this. He died in a car accident, so very sudden and leaves a 4 year old and a 2 month old behind. So it was just really, really sad.
As we were leaving the funeral home employee opening the door goes "we'll see you soon." Um, kind of an odd thing to say.
And finally, my dad stopped by earlier and was shocked to learn that one of my favorite places to eat when I was a teen and living at home is no longer someplace I go. Apparently it's odd that my food preferences have changed in the last 10 years...
