Gets the presidential election? Like he wins the nom and beats Hilary. I just....I don't know what to think. My husband went on a conference with a number of coworkers and many of them were praising trump and are going to vote for him. Mind you these are young educated professionals. My husband was flabbergasted. Boehner's resignation and the celebration of it by so many repubs in that party are giving me serious pause.
Feel free to ignore my morning rambles if you choose...
I will move to Canada. Actually, I'll move to Finland because I don't even want to share a continent with that misogynistic piece of crap.
So will you get citizenship in these countries? I mean, it's easy to say, but the realities of just getting up and moving to another country are a little more involved unless you, say, have a job that will transfer you or relatives that can get citizenship for you.
The thought of a President Trump is truly frightening.

No it's scary, scary times, OP. H & I said we'd move to Canada, originally (semi-in-jest), but GBCN'rs squashed that idea, as apparently it's not exactly "easy". Which has made us start exploring investing in a hotdog stand on an island in the Caribbean. I realize this shouldn't be my more serious option/ idea, but I have a very smart friend investigating the specifics. (They wanna make sure they can bring their cats.)

I have no clue. My life and family are here, so while I talk a good game about moving to Canada in all seriousness I wouldn't be able to do it. I would cry a lot and probably not plan an overseas trip because I assume it would make Americans traveling overseas a target.

A part of me feelslike I'm overreacting but another part of me wants to pull out our investments from the markets and buy some land somewhere because I feel like shit will fall apart and our countries stability might be severely tested.

My husband is trying to convince me it won't be that bad if Trump wins. But I'm not buying it. We'd probably end up with internment camps for illegal immigrants to start. And the radical measures he'd push through would cause massive destabilization to global politics.
Trump likes making big decisions over discussions, so I can see him not thinking through all implications. Also favoring the role of contractors over the joint chiefs and what not.
Many old statesman politicians would also quit as Boehner just did, opening the door for more extremes in Congress.
Maybe it wouldn't *ruin* the country, but it would certainly have some disastrous consequences.
I can't even play along. This will not happen. Even the most Republican of Republicans I know would not vote for him in the general. And he's already falling apart...he got booed the other day for calling Rubio a clown, by his "own" people.

This was TIC. My husband is military, so we can't just up and move. In all seriousness, there isn't much we could do if he is elected. We are stuck.

H is Canadian, but we live in the US (I'm American, we met here). I told him if Trump actually becomes president we'd have to move to Canada. I was not joking.
That said, he really, REALLY hates Stephen Harper. He would view a move from a Trump US to a Harper Canada as a lateral move. But maybe Harper won't be prime minister after the upcoming election.

Stock up on canned food, bottled water, and popcorn, and get ready to watch Trump, Putin, and Kim Jong-un destroy the world like the man sized toddlers they are.
The thing is, and I've said this a million times, Trump is the symptom, not the problem. He's not what scares me - the millions of Americans who agree with him and think he's just great and are apparently "secretly" thinking what he's saying...that's what scares me. And those people are going to exist no matter who wins the election.
We have seriously looked into moving abroad but the countries where we could move without having employer sponsorship are very expensive. We were very, very close to pulling the trigger on a move to Denmark, but it's difficult to get a job there without speaking the language and Danish is very difficult to learn.
And most employers won't even consider a foreign citizen who needs sponsorship unless they're in a profession like engineering.
Seriously consider moving back to China. We were there for 2 years last time, pre-kids. A four-year stint would give the kids a nice international experience.

He will not win. If he does win, I don't think the country will completely fall apart because he can't just enact all this stuff without congress. The worst part will be realizing how awful and disgusting the citizens of this country are to vote for such an awful person.

It's not solely Trump so much as the idea that the majority want what he wants. I don't want to live in a country where people like him get what they want, so if he wins, it means there are more of those people than not.

Can you picture world leaders having to meet with him? Like the Queen of England? Or G8? Would he act like he was still on the Apprentice? Lol, except maybe not?

The same thing I do every night... try to take over the world.
In reality, I'll do the same thing I did when Bush was elected for his second term, curse the television and the news coverage for a couple days, and then again in January when he's sworn in. Trump is exactly the reason Presidents have term limits, and even with the expanded powers of the Executive Branch, there are still plenty of checks and balances. America won't topple because we have a shitty President.
