I know DH would vote for Trump if it came down to it. I don't let it bother me though because I'm not even sure who I would vote for but it sure wouldn't be Trump.
The same thing I do every night... try to take over the world.
Pretty much this. I mean like most people we can't just up and move. I have to say I would be terrified though. His stance on immigration, women's rights among other things are abhorrent and while I think they would have ill effect on this country if all his plans came to pass, I well and truly fear him dealing with foreign leaders. Like it would keep me up at night. This man is trying to win an election by calling people ugly. Do you really think someone with a mouth like that wouldn't lead us directly into a nuclear war with Korea and Russia by going off the cuff?
Seriously it chills me to the bone to think there are people who will vote for him. I mean if you agree with his racist bigoted ways there ain't much I can do but pray for you, but to not recognize that he will make a horrible leader because you are so entranced by that, well that is so much worse to me.
H was arguing that Trump hasn't said anything "super racist" and I was too tired to come up with examples. Bat signal, ladies. Help me prove Trump is a racist shitpig.

If I decided I just couldn't abide America and all its freedoms and purple mountain majesties and whatnot under Trump, my old roommate in Quebec has told me I can come live in the country and snow with her. And I guess I could marry that dude I'm squeezing on and move to somewhere in the EU with him. Or I would try to talk summer into letting me be her nanny/au pair.

Could you get a work visa for 4 or 8 years somewhere (ANYWHERE!), and then come back? I don't know that I would renounce my citizenship in this country, but I think I would cry daily if he was actually elected.

Sure. If you can find a company to sponsor your visa (at least that is the way it works here).
ETA: And generally speaking, it would have to be in a specialized field. Unless you work for a company that would transfer you.

H is Canadian, but we live in the US (I'm American, we met here). I told him if Trump actually becomes president we'd have to move to Canada. I was not joking.
That said, he really, REALLY hates Stephen Harper. He would view a move from a Trump US to a Harper Canada as a lateral move. But maybe Harper won't be prime minister after the upcoming election.
Honestly, it's true.
The biggest difference is that we don't have the same level of political coverage here as in the US (we lived in the US last election). And while I know the ENDLESS political campaigning in the US is a source of frustration and can be totally obnoxious and overwhelming, the contrast (here) is very little - a couple months, at most - there's a level of built in transparency in the US.
Harper has done some shit. And it's just flown under the radar. We're no longer the liberal, transparent country we once were. But we don't have the same level of media scrutiny here. No one cares what the PM's wife wears. Sounds superficial. And it is. But that intense media scrutiny also comes with a forced transparency that we just don't have here.
Anyway, gross oversimplification, but a huge difference between the two countries having lived through elections in both.
Anywho, the TL;DR is that our election will be decided long before yours, and with any luck, we won't be run by Harper-Trump any longer, in which case, c'mon over and holy hell, build that wall on your way!

I'll stay here, keep my head down, and power through, same way I did with 8 years of W. And I'll smile just a little smugly when GOP has to eat their own shit once everything's on fire because Grampa Trump forgot to take his meds again and bombed his own country.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
