I don't know what I would do, but I would be incredibly sad. The thought that the majority of Americans would support a vocal racist is really depressing.

I would go about my life, viewing Clinton as the new Martha Coakley.
I'm happy about Boehner resigning. The GOP leadership overall is horrible. They won a mandate in the Senate and didn't do squat. For that matter, so is the Dem leadership. I don't find Boehner, McConnell, Pelosi, Reid et al all that inspiring. Then again, I don't look to government for inspiration.
H is Canadian, but we live in the US (I'm American, we met here). I told him if Trump actually becomes president we'd have to move to Canada. I was not joking.
That said, he really, REALLY hates Stephen Harper. He would view a move from a Trump US to a Harper Canada as a lateral move. But maybe Harper won't be prime minister after the upcoming election.
I strongly dislike Harper but I can assure you that Trump is probably 100x worse.

The president can't do *too* much by himself. He still needs Congress. You think they were obstructionists for Obama? You ain't seen nothing yet. Trump will have exactly the same effect as Bernie - neither party will go along with his foolishness and he won't be able to get anything done.
But I keep reminding myself that the electoral college map is strongly in the D's favor. We'll be okay.
you are taking it one step further than me - I haven't thought of that yet. I've only thought about the possibility of him getting the repub nomination. I know I can't vote R if he does.
Can you picture world leaders having to meet with him? Like the Queen of England? Or G8? Would he act like he was still on the Apprentice? Lol, except maybe not?
Well considering the UK Prime Minister has been in the news for rumors of putting his penis in a dead pig's mouth....
OMG. I did not know this. JFC. And I really don't want to know more than this one sentence because. JFC what the FUCK is wrong with people?!

Option 1: Move to India and work for a friend. He can sponsor my work visa and hook me up with a job.
Option 2: Move to Mexico and get citizenship. I've got family in Veracruz and the DF. I can also live in TJ for 4 years for under $20k since rent is cheap.
I'm going to move on getting us a plot of land that needs GPS coordinates to find, build and move there, and proceed to sit back and watch Americans enjoy the president they deserve.
Because fucking morons who are voting based on their idiotic wish that even serious life should be like a reality show really and truly deserve all that Trump would bring.

Hopefully I'd be laughing hysterically when it turns out that he's been trolling the republicans all along, and is actually still a democrat who supports abortion rights.
The idea you can pick up and move to another country without jumping through major hurdles, if possible at all, is amusing. I am married to a British citizen, my kids are British citizens, and it is still incredibly difficult for me to move over there. It isn't easy to do.

I will stay here and work against him. I will stand outside the clinic Saturday mornings and fight the fight. I will stay here and empower women, empower minorities, work towards social and economic justice. And I will know that with every single thing I do to further the strength of those communities and work toward equality, I am hurting him and delivering blows to his base.

My theory is he's a Republican mole, to soften the blow about the crazy but-not-Trump-crazy actual candidate they want to put forward.
Roll my eyes, get angry, and wait it out. Just like with Bush. And probably return being politically involved, like I was when Bush was president.
While a President Trump is the worst possible outcome of this election, I don't think he'd be the worst this country has ever seen. We've managed to survive so far. The constitution is set up precisely to prevent an asshole like this from totally fucking up the nation.
So I asked H what he would do if Trump became president. He said he'd have voted for him if he was the R candidate, so he'd be fine with it. He'd enjoy listening to the people on the left screaming for four years.

I'm not sure who I married anymore.

Does this... cause conflict in your marriage? How does this work?
I will stay. Some people just want to see the whole world burn. Me, I will just watch it lol.
And anyway, maybe its needed anyway. Maybe a little stretch of having a really dangerous idiotic leader in the USA will do some good in the long run. At some point, enough restriction to healthcare, lack of money for the poor, racist police, out of control capitalism, religious fanaticism, greedy billionaires, homeless people, unbreathable air, dying crops, lack of gun control etc etc is bound to explode into the violence this country badly needs so it can get back on track.
Im not sure if Trump would bring all of those things at once, but he would sure speed them up!

I got pretty mad, actually. I told him I didn't appreciate that he was looking forward to me being upset for four years, he said he didn't mean ME. He used to be more liberal, not sure what's going on here.

Yeah, my H doesn't have all the same political leanings as me. He voted for W, FFS. But, even he wouldn't vote for Trump, and I think it would be a serious issue for me if he would.

If he really does win? I'll feel embarrassed for my country but nothing more than that. Life will go on. We're not moving to a foreign country. Some people might but I think the # who will is minuscule.
