This may have been covered, since I've only read the 1st page, but what is the appeal of the body pouf? They are so yucky, just hanging around growing bacteria.
*nods*. Moisturization is my life's work. After eating and sleeping, it's how I like to spend my time.
I'm pretty sure cocoa butter is why black don't crack. Also, my hair didn't get this fly by being allowed to get dry and brittle. I carry leave-in spray in my bag next to my lotions and chapsticks.
*fluffs hair*
Shea butter over here.
I went to a friend's house to pick up some things, as I walked up her 9 year old said- mom, she looks like a kid.
You guys, I feel bad about sharing this but... One of the ladies in one of my groups LOVES baths. She will take hour long baths. She'll eat in the bathtub. So one day she posts a pic of this piece of meat floating in water freaking out that her skin is coming off after being in the water so long.
But no, it was a piece of her arby's sandwich that fell in while she was eating.
Hand to god, this happened.
I have gone for a 20 mile run, sent my h for Wendy's, and sat in the tub watching Netflix and eating fries Lolol. :-#
At first, I thought you meant you did all this while this thread has been going on...
The idea of baths is nice until I think of sitting in the yuck of what is on you for an extended period of time. Afterwards, how do you feel clean? Shower after? They are nice but not a way to clean unless they are quick
I take lukewarm showers and don't use a washcloth. And I like to shower every other day. I am totally a dirty hippie and I own it. I often don't shower all weekend and it's glorious.

I just put 4 bath towels and 2 hand towels in the washing machine, and there was not much room for more. I will already have to add extra quarters to dry them. This load will probably cost me $3.50. There is no room for 14 washcloths! Yes, I'm still talking about that.

I really only use baths for soaking sore muscles. Then a shower is required.

Well. I take at least 2 showers a day. So that is 14 washcloths for me alone for showering and then 1 or 2 a week for my face washcloth. Plus whatever DD and H use during the week.
I sound like the least environmental person ever.
Ok, but if you're taking 2 showers a day, aren't you generally clean enough that you could skip the washcloth for one? I usually take a more thorough shower after I workout in the late afternoon/early evening. I take a shower in the morning to freshen up and wake up, but it's really quick because I haven't done anything but lounge around since my last shower. I could see using a washcloth for my evening shower and skipping it for my morning shower.
I really need something else to think about today. I've spent far too much mental energy on washcloths. LOL.

Reading this thread made me feel disgusting, so I scrubbed with a washcloth last night. I did not see anything on the washcloth after. I do use a washcloth on a regular basis for my ears. I feel like my butt gets clean enough with soap and water, but for some reason my ears need a washcloth.
Why are people taking two baths or showers a day? Why are you apparently walking frequently through muddy, stagnant ponds requiring that much self-cleaning? Why aren't we drilling down a bit into how one can be too clean?
These are questions coming from a lady who will walk in bare feet to and from the grill outside and only washes my hair every other day, so factor that in. I just... it's dust. It's air. It's everyday life, yo. Unless I'm sweating excessively or sauntering by a hazmat situation, I'm not getting the need to shower twice or more per day.

I shower post-workout, which is afternoon or evening. But I still shower before getting dressed. But that one is very perfunctory - rinse off, wake up, maybe dampen my hair so I can add some curl definer or occasionally wash it. My morning shower is almost always less than 5 minutes.

I'll be 40 in a few months. At DS's college orientation last year, those kids kept talking to me like I was one of them. DH said, "So wait, who do they think I am--your dad, too??"

I really like them partly for the comfort. They're just so wonderful. Now, on days I run or work out, I have to take two, for sure. Also, ever since I was younger and someone was talking about dead skin cells shedding while you sleep, it's made me want to scrub it down when I wake up. Most people who know me have/would said I'm a germophobe, so I know I can be a little off with some things (I don't think this is one, though). But on days I have one bath a day, I really don't feel any less clean, so I don't consider two a necessity on non-workout days.
I shower twice a day usually, but it's because I take my main showers at night and I like one in the morning too to sort of rinse off and wake up. With my current physical therapy regimen though I've been taking one after PT instead of first thing in the morning, because I go there first thing in the morning. I just feel gross after even though I don't sweat that much (the most I sweat is when I have the heating pad around my neck for 20 minutes).
I wash my hair like 2x per week, though, so I am not always washing my hair in these showers.
It might become 10 more pages if I mention this, but I think us colored folk using washcloths is akin to us typically squatting to pee in public toilets. We can go round and round about it. That's how my mama raised me so I'm not gonna change those habits anytime soon.
Soap goes faster when you use it without a washcloth or loofah. If you want to cut down on your bar soap budget, use a washcloth. Seriously, try it and compare.

White girl raised using washcloths here. I usually use a loofah these days, but sometimes use soap & hands. Yesterday I tried the "washcloth experiment" and it definitely was dingy, so no more soap and hands days for me anymore!
PS, for anyone interested in exfoliating, you can use the scrub daddy on your body (as opposed to dishes or kitchen/bathroom cleaning). I tried that a few weeks ago, thinking there was no way it wouldn't scratch my skin, but it actually worked really well! Obviously don't use the same one you use to clean things in your house with.
Oh my gosh, you can do everything, but the main thing you can do is relax!
I don't read books, only magazines, because then I don't care about them getting wet.
Today, I had like a 30 minute conversation with my friend on speakerphone while in the bath. Sometimes, I feel kind of awkward because I have had a couple friends ask me if I'm taking a bath, but I usually laugh and say, "Am I doing what? Oh gosh, you're so crazy." Only two of them know that I probably am taking a bath.
I GBCN from the tub.
I leave the door open and talk to my husband.
But most of the time, I just lay back and relax until my near boiling water gets lukewarm, and then I'm ready to split.
well all of this sounds fun. i'll have to try again. what's your favorite product to put in the bath? i've tried some lush bath bombs. they were pretty nice.
Sorry, I wanted to wait for this for when I had more time .
I love the Lush bath bombs, too.
Also, pretty much everything L'Occitane, but my two major faves for bubble baths are:
Shea Butter Ultra Rich Shower Cream (which I use as a bubble bath)
Lavender Foaming Bath
Perlier Honey Cream Bath (this is how I first got hooked on bath products, my mom used this when I was younger and I would take hers all the time. I still love it so much.)
Library of Flowers, especially the Wildflower and Fern
For bath salts, I really like L'Occitane again, and again, the lavender. I also like the kind Whole Foods puts out in bulk.
Then my favorite drugstore bath products are Aveeno Stress Relief Foaming Bath:
and Dr. Teal's Epsom Salts (this pic is missing some of the varieties, but they're all good)
Then, I also love these shea soaps with essential oils and a brown sugar scrub that I buy from someone local. Both are super moisturizing (they leave my tub kind of greasy, so I don't feel all that clean, but they're nice when I want that).
There are a couple things I like but I wouldn't necessarily recommend, like I'm oddly attached to Algemarin, even though I don't know why lol. I think I just like the smell and the blue bath water.
I'm really drawn to lavender and chamomile most. Oh, I almost forgot, I like bath milks, too!

i want to bathe in that honey cream stuff immediately. i don't know why but that bottle looks sooo inviting lol.
thanks for the recs!
Oh gosh, you don't even know. Perlier kills with the packaging for it. When my mother used to get it, it came in a round, short, squat jar that had the two part metal top like a mason jar? It was amazing. Then for a period, there was this:
but it went away, too.
This is probably the least interesting one, but they will probably do something good again soon.
Why are people taking two baths or showers a day? If it is a workout day, I will wash the vital areas before workout, shower after workout/before work, and then shower when I get home from work/before bed. On non-workout days, I take a shower before work and a shower before I go to bed. I will say, I sweat during work and feel like I need a shower after. Why are you apparently walking frequently through muddy, stagnant ponds requiring that much self-cleaning? I get sweaty at work and do a lot of walking. Plus I am in contact with a lot of the public. I need to wash all that off. Why aren't we drilling down a bit into how one can be too clean? Too clean is not something I understand.

i don't do baths because i don't know what the hell i'm supposed to do once i'm in.
i can't slouch too low or my hair gets wet and fuck that.
i can't read or mess around on my phone because WHAT IF I DROP IT?
i can't read a book because then my whole arm gets cold from staying out in the air and i have to dry off my other hand to turn the page and omg annoying.
i always get so excited to take a bath and then i'm like, "welp! might as well down my wine and go rinse off now!" 5 min in.
Put your phone/kindle/tablet in a plastic bag...the touchscreens still work.
That's a tip from my DH who is the bather in the family. He'll also netflix from the tub.

If I try to brush my teeth in the morning with toothpaste or rinse with mouthwash I will barf. I cannot handle any of those flavors in the am; they trigger my gag reflex and I end up praying to the porcelain god. Slight morning breath > barf breath!
I brush at night as well as brush my mouth guard at night. I also clean my mouth guard every day after I get up.
No guy has yet to complain about my morning breath!
