This situation just gets increasingly worse. Definitely document everything that is going on, I cannot believe there is not more protection from employees for this type of behavior.
I am so sorry. I was in a similar situation (minus the paycheck issue) where other issues led to the firm creating issues with my work product. It sucks, because no one is perfect, so if they want to create an issue, it's always possible.
Aren't there laws about being paid on time? I know you don't feel like you can push back, but I would be so so so tempted. I really hope you find something soon. I'd document everything regarding your pay and report them as soon as you have a new job too.
I've seen it on the CA Labor Board site that there is a law about this. Not sure about other states.

That is complete and utter bullshit. Granted, I'm in a completely different field, but there would seriously be a revolt/uproar here if people did not get their checks ON payday. FFS!!!

My former boss was like that only 4 or 5 late paycheck in 3 years but daily verbal abuse, f-ing up and blaming me, creating issues with my work product. Ex he knew about a project 2 weeks ago, never told me it existed, then when it was already a week late to the clients he'd come in screaming at me about why the project I had never heard of wasn't done.
I was scared to death but I started interviewing. I got the offer for my current job 2 days after I caught him committing fraud and promptly quit. That was a great day and my current career is amazing.
Wow. Is there any way that you could maybe look into other non-law related jobs for now? I don't know about your $$ situation, but anything has to be better than that place.
Hey you. Ugh what a mess. I'm so sorry to hear that they're being even bigger chodes. Good luck in your job hunt, and I'll be thinking good job-getting thoughts!
