Ummm my MIL just surprise showed up at my house. In Germany. This was my face when I saw her ... I almost cried and not entirely because I was happy.
this is my face and I'm just reading this.
I mean I get that she's excited/happy/etc. but it seems CRAZY to show up unannounced in another county. Maybe convince your H to have a family tour day over the weekend so you can get some quality alone time?

I love her and she knows she won't be there in the delivery room. But I'm feeling, overwhelmed now? I can't decide how I feel about her being here when I go into labor. She's been on contraction watch since I hit 30 weeks I'm usually super breezy about guests and we always tell our family they are welcome here, but I'm feeling conflicted about this. My SIL is already here because she is my doula, so I'm starting to feel smothered by people...
What the hell? Who in their right mind thinks it's a good idea to just show up on your doorstep when you live abroad? I mean, H and I welcomed visitors in London too, but even not pregnant I would have been super angry at a surprise visit.
Apparently she mentioned it to H a few days ago and wanted it to be a surprise. She was supposed to be coming at the end of Nov. I know I'm usually breezy about this which is why H probably thought it was an ok thing not to mention. I absolutely plan to talk with H tonight and make sure there are boundaries.
The good news is for the first time I've actually been able to feel a few BH contractions since she's shown up, so maybe her arrival will send me into labor?? Positive thoughts?

Wow, @g22, your MIL has BALLS to just show up like that in a different country! I would be livid, not the time for a surprise like that.
Had an OB appointment this morning. I'm 26w2d and measuring 33w. Yay?! Lol. My iron is low so she gave me some samples and told me to start an iron supplement. Did the 1 hour glucose test and should hear about that tomorrow (I did the orange too, it's not so bad). I'm just hoping I don't have to do the 3 hour test, that was pretty much the low point of my pregnancy with DS. I go back in 2 weeks for an ultrasound.
Ughhhhh, G22, I HATE surprises, and guests are tough, and guests when you could go into labor at any time... You have my sympathies.
I think that's the thing, I hate surprises too. Which is why not knowing when I'll go into labor is making me impatient. So I was pretty speechless when I saw her, but tried not to be rude.
She bought the ticket before she told him, didn't she? Is she still coming in November? Cancel that trip at the very least.
That I don't know. I will have to ask him if he knew of the ticket change when she talked to him.
Annnnnd she's planning to stay until the end of her trip in Nov! Which that I kind of don't mind really. It's the whole being here when I go into labor, I wasn't prepared to have people here while I was in labor.
She is quite presumptuous, isn't she? You are so much nicer than me. She'd seriously be in a hotel until the date that we had agreed upon. H might be there with her.

I hadn't thought of that, but good point. I definitely don't need anyone but DH around when I'm struggling through contractions (assuming my delivery turns out that way).

You are nicer and breezier than I would have been. This is completely unacceptable in my book. In general showing up unannounced with plans to stay at my place would have been grounds for murder. Showing up unannounced anytime around my due date, well I can guarantee you would not be staying with me and you would not be getting any calls when the baby was born.

This is definitely the first time she ever has done something like this. And it makes it slightly better that she did tell my H a few days ahead of time, so he is partially to blame for letting it go without my knowledge. I'll definitely be talking with him about future situations like this, but for now it's done. Being that we are overseas, only have one car, and I know my ILs don't have the money for her to stay in a hotel that long, I won't kick her out. Plus that will only stress me more I think, dealing with the fallout of doing that. But boundaries will be set.
G22 you are like cool as a cucumber about this, I am very impressed! I also can't stand my MIL for more than 5 min so if DH did that he would legit be on the couch IF he was lucky. Is she helpful? Like could you hand her some boxes and say 'put this stuff away in the guest room closet so I can finish the baby's room' or send her to the grocery store while you're doing things around the house?

Yes she absolutely is. Which I think is why I'm slowly warming up to the idea. She wanted to make dinner tonight, but I didn't let her since she was running on fumes from flying all night. But I will most definitely let her tomorrow if she tries to.
Wait what?! Gumby you are so low key! I would be having a shit fit. I can't believe she did that!!! And your husband! Wow. Who thinks surprising an about to deliver pregnant lady with a month long houseguest is a good idea?

I did the 1-hour gestational diabetes test this morning, and I think my baby has been on a sugar high all day. Damn girl. Settle down in there (except don't, because then I'll start to freak out about something being wrong).

See that was my thought process as well. Yes, let's surprise the person feeling the most pressure right now as it is. It doesn't make sense in my mind, but whatever. I've had a few hours to let the news sink in and I'm moving on. She is normally quite helpful around the house when she visits, so I'm banking on that coming in handy.
That's what I get for thinking moving to another country would save us from having to worry about visitors stopping by unannounced after the baby comes. lol
Well that took a few years off my life. Went for our Mfm appointment today. Scan is going well but baby is not being cooperative about getting its big old noggin out of the way to get a cervical length. She makes one measurement that I can see of 2.3 cm. I know they want it over 4 and 2 is holy crap you are getting a cerclage time so I a crapping myself trying not to panic. She says she needs a vaginal pic. Has de pee and says she will be back with dr. They also had to take dw's bp as we waited. So bp is up. Not horrible but not great. Dr comes in all business we get the vag cam and she is like oh we at ok long and closed. The tech is like thank goodness that is not what I was measuring before. Holy crap I was going into complete panic mode. So all is well and out baby is a bruiser. 1lb 12 oz at 24 w5d. A giant seeing as my dd was born at 30w5d at 2lb 5oz. By our next scan at 28 weeks the baby is sure to be bigger than dd. crazy. But yeah I could have done without that.
We saw the perinatologist today. Babies are measuring 2lb7oz and 2lb5oz, and both are head-down again! They were face-to-face -- so cute, but it didn't lend itself to any good pics for the tech to give us! Also, she was able to show us who/what has been kicking me behind my belly button -- it turns out their knees are there!
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!

That's so interesting! I'm so curious as to what is causing the kicks in different places. I have no clue.

Me too! I'll have another scan in a couple of weeks, and I'm curious to see if she's still breech like I think she is. A week ago I thought she might have moved transverse because I was getting all sorts of movement on one side, but she seems to be back to kicking me in the cervix and bladder.
