first OB appointment is thursday!!! i'm excited, and also a little terrified something will be wrong, even though i've had no indication of anything and baby looked great last week.
Trajan was on Brad's list. I dont suggest going to Italy at 20 weeks if you don't have names already chosen. [referencer]6 week appt today. Yay? M is coming with me. It will be her first subway ride.
I've never heard of Trajan, but I love a lot of Italian names - Matteo, Allessandra, Giovanni. We, however, are not fancy people, so we won't be using anything like those.
For reference, Hercules was also on his list. Trajan was a Roman emporer. I liked Lucca, which was the name of a server we had in Florence, but he vetoed that one.

Hm, yeah, Hercules is a terrible name. WTF is wrong with your husband? Haha. I like Lucca too.
DH is really into Mongolian history, and several times, he has suggested the name of some Mongolian queen, Siger or something like that. (Google is not helping me figure out if that's spelled right or is the right name.) Which we will not be using.

28w1d today. Can't believe third tri is here! We had our first baby shower this past Saturday and had such a great time. It's so wonderful to see how excited everyone is and how loved this little one is already. We have a shower Saturday and Sunday this weekend and then are hoping to catch some Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales to finish off anything we need. I think we settled on a paint color so we are hopefully going to get that tonight since we might both be home tomorrow since they are calling for a crazy snow storm.
sophie223 I never got sick and was pretty asymptomatic. It's such a mind game!!
ivy my mind is blown about 30 weeks being tomorrow. I really only have 5 weeks at work (we're closed for Christmas, and I'll probably come back 3 days a week if I make it to 1/4. SO MUCH I NEED TO DO (here and at home, lol). I kind of panicked about this this morning, like the babies will know if their closet isn't organized when they're born.
I'm getting to the point of accepting that my aggressive to do list won't get completely done. It's tough to swallow.
I am so glad to know that there are people who share my pain.
I had not completed any sort of list before delivery. I stocked the freezer, packed a bag, and bought some diapers. Then I put my parents to work assembling furniture when they got here. I wholeheartedly recommend this approach.
I swear for everything I finish on my list I add 3 more. We finally have a place for the baby to sleep (although no bedding has been washed). I have one pack of size 1 diapers and some AIOs. No clothes washed and no car seat. SO MUCH TO DO.
Prior to yesterday, when I got a diaper bag, 2 bottles and an ear thermometre (hey, big spender!), I had purchased exactly: 7 sleepers & 1 pram. If I were due tomorrow, I'd be totally unprepared for a newborn. This is with me only working part time freelance, and having an entire family to help me shop/clean/assemble stuff. No shame in anyone busier than me (basically all of you) not getting through their to-do list.

so i REALLY want to hire this birth photographer in our area, i've wanted to since we started TTC. of course, back then i didn't know getting PG would cost us $15k. and now i'm not sure we can swing the $2000 cost for her, and i'm really sad about it.

Ugh this sucks. We're in a similar boat and after looking at the other expenses we are prepping for decided to look at entirely different photography. Our doula does photos during birth so we're going that route and I found someone on craigslist who is trying to expand their portfolio to do our maternity pictures for cheap and then we'll "splurge" on our newborn photos. I follow the photographer I love on fb and the swooning at her pictures probably doesn't help.
I think my nausea is coming in. This morning I gagged so hard when brushing my teeth that I ejected the toothbrush from my mouth and dropped it. It's an electric toothbrush so spittle went everywhere. Lolol. Ok then!
mine hit RIGHT AT 6 weeks. one day, i was totally fine and could eat anything. the next, i had to quickly hide the barbecue in our fridge because even looking at it made me gag.

I just told my first friend about the pregnancy and she's so excited I nearly started crying in my office! I'm nervous since it is still so early, but it's nice to be excited about it with people!

I told my boss and the other girl in the office 2 weeks ago, and it's SO fun having them ask how I'm feeling and wanting to know about appointments . I figure, nothing will make it suck less if something happens, so I'm embracing the little celebrations.
Still nervous about coming "out of the closet" so to speak, but also excited.
Ultrasound went well, baby is measuring right on track and heart rate of 184. The second sac is still hanging out in there, I guess it must take a while before it completely goes away. I will see the OB on Thursday. It will be weird not to have weekly ultrasounds anymore!
We told my parents right away but are waiting until Christmas to tell anyone else because we want to tell DH's parents in person (they live out of state). I will be 16 weeks then. It seems like so long to wait!

Right on cue- I've been bringing carrots and hummus for my afternoon snack for months. Just took 2 bites of my hummus- it tastes terrible, can't stomach it. Ate the carrots alone and am still hungry. This little alien better have a god damned heartbeat.
I was the opposite - the hummus was okay, but the vegetables I usually eat with it made me gag (not due to nausea, just a food aversion). So weird that my body/mind was rejecting vegetables when you'd think it would need healthy food more than ever!

Yeah veggies never really sound good to me right now. But baby is really into cereal and bagels and cream cheese lol
You guys, I feel like I cannot catch a fucking break! I had my scan today to check on my placenta, and while that's now up and out of the way, it turns out my cervix is shortening. I need to be referred to a specialist ASAP and will probably need a cerclage. I'm glad they caught it, and I know it's not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I feel like it's just been one thing after another and I'm frustrated, and I want my H here. I am going to talk to him tomorrow about coming sooner. He's flying standby, so it doesn't matter when he leaves.
Fun fact though: my baby has hair. Hair! I was bald until I was about 2, so clearly H's Mexican genes are at work.
