boiler717, I've seen that cake! Ha, this was so confusing for a few minutes, because I couldn't remember where I saw it earlier today. Apparently you had internet friends who I follow on instagram at your shower.
Oh and it was so sweet that oneslybookworm attended, especially with everything going on her life. I felt like I had all the TTTC girls with me there <3.
Right, if I'd seen this post before I went searching, I could have saved some time.

Speaking of cake, my MIL is throwing a little shower for us when we visit next week and called to ask me what dessert I want. And then, on the message she left, she named like every dessert there is. I was like, um...all of them? Ha. I chose cake. Now I hope there's an ornament on top.

spearmintleaf, I haven't tried bubble gum flavour. To be honest, nothing was going to keep me from feeling sick. I brushed my teeth with just a tiny dab of toothpaste, totally gave up on brushing my tongue, and had to forgo using the electrical button on my toothbrush because the vibrations made me gag. I think it's safe to say my dental hygiene went considerably downhill for the 14 weeks of my allfuckingday sickness. I also suggest brushing your teeth before putting on mascara.

Just make sure there is cake!
Lol, not another cakegate! I promise if any TTTC-ers come to anything I host, I'll have cake. Otherwise I fear being flamed off the board. What about cheesecake? Can I serve that and have it considered cake? I like cheesecake.

There's a good chance I would have chosen cheesecake if I wasn't bringing it to Thanksgiving dinner for the same people the day before the shower. I didn't even think about cakegate when I chose cake. Phew, dodged a bullet!

NOPE. And buttercream! No fondant!
Well obviously. Cake is bad enough. Fondant just makes it worse.
I baked a cake yesterday, and the cake is gone but there are still some crumbs on the counter. It makes me sad. I want cake. (I didn't even eat any cake yesterday, I just froze it to bring to a party next month.)

That's even worse! Having it sit in your freezer, knowing its there but not eating it!

Is it for me?
Sure!
If you want to come to my office Christmas party, that is.

My mom got me an ice cream cake for my shower. Is that better than plain cake?
I mean I don't discriminate, they both are yummy in my book!
I suppose. I'm not a huge fan of ice cream either, although I love sorbets. I know, I know, I'm really bizarre. I think the problem is that I don't have much of a sweet tooth. Which is also odd because I love baking, and will make cookies and brownies and cakes (more coffee/snacking/lemon drizzle type cakes than traditionally frosted) all the time because I think to myself 'I would really like 1 cookie'. But you can't just make 1 cookie. Then to prevent H eating his weight in sweeties, I give them to our neighbours. We had an excellent arrangement with our neighbours in London. The husband worked at a craft brewery and always brought home amazing beer. I would knock on their door to deliver home baked goodies, and they would send me home with several bottles of beer.
It was our 6th wedding anniversary yesterday. I had promptly forgotten until H reminded me when we spoke on Skype. Whoops! Admittedly, I've had other things on my mind lately. He spent the day wandering around the Imperial War Museum, and eating awesome street food at one of our favourite markets. My day was... less exciting. Lol.

Maybe I'll just have the first piece to make sure it's not toxic.
Super impressed by your planning ahead skills!
I also have three types of Christmas cookie dough in my freezer! I'm very proud of myself. My baking plans for December are ambitious, I have to pace myself. Plus I'm making the cake for my shower in early January. Plus apparently you're supposed to, like, do stuff to prepare for a baby? But that doesn't sound nearly as fun as making cookies.

Meh, all you need for baby are a place to sleep, some clothes, and diapers. Cookies are way more complicated.
