NEW ORLEANS -- Social media lit up after photos surfaced of what looks like a light coming from abandoned Charity Hospital.
WWL-TV viewer Mike Arbon shared pictures of what he said looked like a small bright Christmas tree put in the window
The pictures were taken Monday night after Arbon's shift at Tulane Medical Center. Arbon said he saw someone else post similar photos to Facebook and wanted to see for himself.
"It's really pretty and little creepy," Arbon said. "It gave me chills when I saw it and, of course, made me think of my brother, who passed away at Charity Hospital."
The hospital closed after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and was never reopened.
Why are squatters putting up a christmas tree!!! If i was squatting in a scary as fuck abandoned hospital I'd be saving up my dough to move into an abandoned car or something, not spending it on LED christmas trees.

Looks like an LED light, like the obnoxious camp lantern H puts in our tent. Totally squatters.
That's what I thought. That's what, the 13th floor though? That's pretty far up for squatters to go. I'd probably stop at like the 6th floor, tops. I'd be a lazy squatter. I bet the view is cool though.
@majorwife, I'd love to do that. I work in an old state hospital turned into office space, and there's a bigger campus across the street that's been closed for years. I jog through there sometimes and I'm always so tempted to check out the buildings.

That's nuts that a building that gigantic was just abandoned. I was curious so did a little googling and while it was damaged by flood waters it's a structural sound building. What a waste!

I work in historic preservation. That building is my jam. Look at the Art Deco!

I feel like in all the dystopian fiction I read people squat up a couple floors, but not at the top. Like enough that they're safe if there is a flood or zombies are coming, but not so high that they get stuck up there.
I really want to take a summer and travel the country and see all the abandon shit we have. not necessarily ghost stuff, just urban decay. i love that so much.
i would explorer the fuck out of that hospital. just avoid the floor with the xmas tree. lol
This would be the first room I'd check out. I'd be videoing and emfing the f out of that room.
