Talking about Fractured Prune is making me salivate. H had something recently called Ducks donuts I think. He is still talking about it.
They are from the OBX & franchising out. They are good especially the bacon one but they are not hot glazed Krispy Kremes. Angels make those.
They were in Raleigh for a while at Brier Creek. One day DH went to Raleigh, and I asked him to bring me some Fractured Prune doughnuts back. He went to get them and they were closed, I was so bummed.
I haven't had one in forever, but oh, the memories.
Shoppers are pretty legit donuts. There is some place in linthicum that is also supposedly pretty good.
Keller's? I think they closed this fall.
I wish I liked Fractured Prune because I live right near one but I prefer yeast-raised.
Every time Fractured Prune comes up I vow to go try them but I keep forgetting. Probably a good thing.
There's a new donut place in Fells Point I have been wanting to try. Pretty sure they are opening an Abbey Burger on the same block. Thank god I don't live nearby anymore.
Krispy Kreme was here in NY for all of two or so years. There was even one in the neighborhood I lived in back then. And then, just like that, it left, only accessible to us via Penn Station.
I was so excited when they came and so sad when they left.
We were in Portland last week. On our way to the airport I told DH we had to stop at Voodoo Donuts. Yummmm

DD coffee isn't as good as what I remember drinking while I was in Boston.
Please, please tell me that the sour cream old fashion donuts from Fractured Prune aren't good. Those are my favorite.
Fractured Prune is a chain of donut shops. I know of one on the boardwalk in Ocean City. Overpriced, hot doughnuts.
I don't mind paying $$ if they're good, but "overpriced" doesn't usually indicate good. But everyone else seems to love them in this thread. hmmm.... Might have to judge for myself.

I haven't been to the new Fells Point place yet. I've heard good things.

I was talking about Duck Donuts. I don't remember the Prune place.

Well, I came in to say that "Have a better life" might be my favorite bit of shade ever thrown here, but now I want doughnuts. Specifically, a maple bacon doughnut from Duck Donuts.

Is that place really good? We were peeking through the windows when they were working and they have us some of their "practice" donuts. I haven't made it back since they opened.
I'm hiking with a friend down that way. Maybe we'll replenish our calories there.
DH and I really enjoyed the doughnuts. We've only been there once, but only because it's a pain to get there.
The only donut worth eating is a Mr. D's m&m donut. It was a small place in la crosse, WI, and they tore down the building a few years ago to expand the road, and opened a bank or some such in that spot. They added on a tiny cafe where they still sold the donuts, but they were ever the same. It still makes me sad to think of it.
This is only tangentially related°, but when my friends from HS and College are all "I don't raise my kids to behave that way," I'm sitting there thinking, bitch, please. I know the shit you used to do that your parents didn't raise you to do. So GTFO here with that "my kids would never," bullshit.
°to the original topic, as I see now that we have moved on to doughnuts.
Why is it okay for Quentin Tarantino to use the "n" word in his movies? Hollywood licks his legs over his movies. I don't get it.
Did he do that in The Hateful Eight?
I think we had a discussion on here about using it in Django Unchained, and a prevailing thought was that since it was a period piece it was appropriate. Also because the protagonist was a former slave.
