Yikes! I'm super sorry if you're talking about me as I posted in almost all of those threads but I don't think I actually posted in the Tamir Rice one.
We talk about all manner of stuff here. We have a whole thread about the Great British Baking Show. Not nary a lurker popped out to join that discussion. There's another about food. One about mustard and divorce. One about book recommendations. Leasing a car. Dogs in cars. Lotion. Star Wars.
But you show up in the racially charged one to say you can't have a discussion with us. Why is that?
well, I mean, look at the passion and one-sidedness about long johns / eclaires, or tacos's threats of mustard-related divorce. Food posts get scary.
I can't even believe that people who post things like that bothered to read the thread. They saw Tamir Rice's name in the post title and dropped their shitty prejudices to illicit a reaction.
(Side note: can we stop calling things like that opinions? The definition of a prejudice is "a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience." That's was happening there.)
Someone with a shred of common sense or intelligence or desire to engage in an actual conversation would have read more of our threads. Upon reading, such a person would not be able to resist being affected in some way. A person lacking in those categories would drop something inflammatory, stick their fingers in their ears and ignore feedback like a child. I don't know what can be done about these people who act like children other than to repeatedly make it clear to them that their prejudices are ill-informed, out-dated and frankly, disgusting.

I'm mainly a lurker here but I feel like I can discuss things. There are obvious exceptions (I'm not touching the long john debate with a 10 foot pole); but overall, I find the group to be amenable to discussions.

Well no matter what they are called as long as you agree they are nasty, we can be friends.

These are people who don't WANT to have a discussion. They want to smugly shit in a post and act like we are the ones who stink. They pat themselves on the back for their "truth bombs" and engaging with the crazy, closed-minded liberals. No. Fuck you. Don't have a nice day.
DH brought me a chocolate cake donut from DD this morning. And a blueberry muffin--so I had fruit for breakfast, right?
For those of you who know what an It's It is, here is my rational for why they are the perfect breakfast. First you have your oatmeal (cookie) and dairy (ice cream), and the raisins are fruit. Top it off with the chocolate and you have a healthy breakfast with an antioxidant!
Krispy Kremes are better than DD, but still subpar to even grocery store donuts.
Fractured Prune had ruined other donuts for me. I'm glad there isn't one near me.
I did not need to know this. I had successfully avoided the one in town using ignorance as my main justification to not stop in and try it. Now that I know that they have good fried dough? I'm weak.

Oh. In that case they are terrible. Worst thing I've ever tasted!
On the upside, they're across town and on one of the most congested streets in the city so there are some built-in controls.
