Why is it okay for Quentin Tarantino to use the "n" word in his movies? Hollywood licks his legs over his movies. I don't get it.
I don't know. One of our reviewers came and talked to me about this and was bothered by it as he felt it was gratuitous in this film. I haven't seen it and honestly, I'm wondering if there is just ONE black man in the movie why would ever other word need to be the n-word?
I'm admittedly not a huge Tarantino fan, but Spike Lee (who is a an asshole) has been raising this issue about Tarantino for some time now.
I saw the movie and thought it was somewhat gratuitous. It was like every other word in some scenes and felt uncomfortable at times. But part of the conceit is that Samuel l Jackson is a union soldier (well former bc war is over) and there is a confederate general and two other southerners. So Samuel l Jackson and the southerners use it.
Sorry I should have replied to one of the other posts to be clear but yes the n word is used often in the hateful eight which I even posted in the thread where we talked about Oscar contenders.

Duck donuts are amazing! My parents and I walked to Duck from our rental home the last time we were in OBX and it felt like we walked for miles and miles, but once I had one in my fat little hand, I didn't care.
