Our primary is 3/1 and as of right now I'm on the fence between Bernie and HRC. Hear me out, my two main issues are that Bernie doesn't seem to look the type that has a backbone and I'm not quite sure the leaders in other countries will take him seriously.
With HRC because she's a woman and she's already been involved in "scandals" she is not given respect by people in our own government, there a definitely people that hate her. And I don't know how much if any respect she'll get from leaders in other countries. My fear is that she's going to have to spend most of her presidency dealing with the lack of respect and not actually being able to accomplish anything.

I think we're actually behind a lot of the rest of the world wrt women in leadership/government.

Not looking the type seems like a straw man. Neither did Obama. There are many better reasons to not pick Bernie.

I disagree with you on the woman issue. I agree with the other poster that we are behind other countries and most people will respect a woman just fine. I heard Madeleine Albright speak recently and she said it was her own circle in the US who had the least respect for her because she was friendly with their wives and that's how they perceived her. Foreign diplomats had no problem dealing with a woman.
On the scandals issue, this is a major concern. I'm not looking forward to years of investigations, witch hunts, calls for impeachment, etc. And I do believe it will happen. I'm still voting for her because I believe she is the best candidate by far, but I can see both sides here.
I don't think Sanders will fare any better in terms of getting respect and making real progress.

HRC was a very well-respected Secretary of State--and in that position she was extremely effective working with leaders in other countries. I'm honestly more worried about the lack of respect she'll face domestically than internationally.

This is where I'm at. It's not so much the other countries, but our own people that will make issue with HRC.
I agree that we are way behind on having a female in higher offices, but that doesn't mean that HRC needs to be the first....
Like I said I'm sitting in the middle and seeing both sides.

Yes. I kind of *head tilt* at the foreign respect. She HAS foreign respect. She has been working with foreign governments for years and they find her pragmatic and someone who gets shit done. One of the reasons I am voting for her (I can name very few things Bernie has actually DONE in his 20 years in congress).
I do understand the fear about domestic respect, but we went through this with Obama and survived. Also, if you think Republicans won't try and discredit a socialist, well, you are less pessimistic than I am. The GOP won't rollover and play dead with either candidate.
Look at all the overwhelming support for Hillary in this poll! If you like Hillary it's time to pony up. We need to do as the Berners do. Money is power in American elections and no one seems to rail against and simultaneously benefit from this fact more than Bernie. She is getting outspent and he has collected enough to be competitive for the long haul. If you don't like her, ignore this. If you already donate, ignore this. If you like her but haven't donated, consider donating. I just gave an additional $25 tonight. Bernie is winning this all on a constant stream of small dollar donations. There is no reason why Hillary cannot do the same. That's all.
Agreed! I just donated and set up automatic monthly donations.
