We finally got my W2 from work for 2015. H does our taxes using Turbo Tax and when he entered the information, we went from a $900 federal refund to owing $1500 :?
In looking at it closely, it appears two things happened:
1) Our net income went over some threshold which reduces the amount of child care expenses we can deduct. Crap. 2) When H started a new job in the fall of 2014 he wrote out his W2 to withhold less. He claims we had a conversation about it, which I don't remember?
They are here doing a Stucco inspection on our house. Fingers crossed there are no issues. Our RELO coordinator said she recently had a client that had to spend $15k in remediation. PUKE.
I'm really frustrated with my scale. I stepped on it 8 times in a row and I got 8 different weights. There was a 3 pound difference between the highest and lowest. Wtf. I just bought this scale like 6-9 months ago!
Bought some new bras online which is always really stressful for me because of my ED history. I haven't weighed myself in years, and it's good for me, but when buying bras and jeans, weight gain is really obvious. Based on my measurements, my size didn't change, but I'm always afraid I messed up. So they sat on my dresser for a week until I got the courage up last night to try them on - and they fit! YAY!
I'm procrastinating on taxes. We have 2 states, a sold house with First Time Buyer Loan credit thingy that need to be repaid, a bought house, a move, ugh!
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”

3 lbs isn't a big margin of error. Not so with my scale the displayed "ERR" this morning. It is only supposed to do that if it goes over the scale limit. I'm 100lbs below the limit. It just hates me this morning.

Ugh! I moved my scale to a different part of the room last night, and this morning it said I weigh like 6 lbs more than yesterday. I was doing well with the dietbet challenge, and now I'm in danger of not being able to win with weigh in tomorrow. It's frustrating!

I took the pup out for our jog this morning. It was so cold it irritated my lungs and I've been coughing intermittently since.
I stayed until nearly 9pm last night to finish a bunch of work only to here that someone decided to change a soucre report by $$$ and now everything has to be redone.
My taxes are looking to generate at least $3k in refunds. So I'm planning to get the new bed and bedding without feeling guilty at all because the refund will cover it. I can't rationalize reducing my withholdings because 1) I'm putting more in Roth and less in tax deferred retirement accounts, 2) HR here is um not the most responsive so I don't trust it would be easy to change back and 3) I fully expect Boyfriend will owe taxes and once we get married we will be using my withholdings to help cover his business taxes so I don't want to get used to having the money only to give it back and more.
I drove our stick shift car to work every day in January except for two. I had a few embarrassing moments where I stalled repeatedly taking off from stop signs and red lights, but I have it under control now. I just ran a lunchtime errand and for the first time I felt totally capable (and actually kinda badass) driving it.
Plus I think I found a guy at work who wants to buy our old beater which is awesome.

Move it back to the old spot!!!
I don't know why i keep signing up for diet bets. I never even come close to meeting the goal.
I am almost done getting everything together for our taxes. I usually do them but stbxh bought a new business after we separated, so I am going to let his accountant do them. I am not very comfortable with depreciation and would just rather let someone else do them. I am very thankful that we are able to file joint taxes one last time.
I'm also procrastinating as it relates to taxes. Not looking forward to it.
Anyway, in better news, I'm going to babysit my sweet baby nephew in a couple months because my sister and BIL are going to a wedding! Some of you may recall that usually my mother flies from the west coast to the east coast to babysit him whenever they go somewhere, because outside of his parents, no one except my mother and I have ever kept him. I usually get on my high horse and tell anyone who will listen that they're going to make him weird if this doesn't stop. However, my mother had already booked a vacation and couldn't do it, so she mentioned it to me and I pounced. So I will save my judgment for when I'm not the babysitter at bat, because yay, I get to have him all to myself . #enabler

Good for you! When I lived in Michigan, I had a Mazda 626 Manual and it was the best car to drive Up North in the winter. I did better with it than any of my 4x4 vehicles. My dad would not let me take my driving test until I could drive manual transmissions, but I grew up on a farm
MH is taking our big kitty to the vet after work to make sure his incision and his ear have healed up properly. If so, he can take off the head cone and he can come out of seclusion to join our other two cats. He certainly looks and acts OK, so I'm hoping we don't get any surprise bad news.
I'm a bit nervous, because we tried re-introducing him to the other two cats over the weekend. The kitten couldn't care less about him, but there was some hissing between him and our middle cat, who's his good buddy. I was hoping we could get them acclimated to each other again on a weekend day so that we wouldn't have to isolate him again when we're at work.
I think they'll be OK, especially since they're always pissy with each other for a little while when someone comes back from the vet, but it's going to be slow going. And he may have to go back in his isolation room tomorrow when we're at work, if they're not regular ol' buddies again by bedtime tonight.

kore2!!!!! Hello! You're back! (I was mrschicken on the old site)
I am trying to book a hotel at the beach for one night when my parents and nephew are here, but I am overwhelmed by reviews on Trip Advisot and Yelp. Every good review is canceled out by a bad one and it makes me feel so stuck. Should I suck it up any pay $50 more for one with slightly better ratings?
Both have beach access, walkable to the boardwalk, free parking and breakfast. And my paren' standards are not very high.

Ha! My first car (in Michigan) was a manual trans Mazda 626 I love the control I have with manual transmissions, and my current car has one. I will probably skip in the future, though. I spend so much time stuck in traffic. Shifting gets super old.

Please advise.
I'd probably pay the $50, although the not very high standards is swaying me. If you like the user photos on Trip Advisor, I might consider the cheaper option. Otherwise, I wouldn't.

I have a mac book air. It is 6 months old. It died. I took it to the apple store where they said it had water damage and would be $755 to fix. If it was water damage it was a splash, not spilling a cup of water on it. And came through the back of the computer between the screen and the keyboard according to the guy. I am going back to a PC. I think I hated the thing so much the water gods jumped into it and killed it for me.
Anyone have a PC they love for less than $750?
mbcdefg , hope the kitties get along. irene adler , call the hotels directly and pick the one that will give you the best room for the best price. When I just book on line, I get some random room, when I call, I can often get the one with the view or the one that is newly renovated, not overlooking the garbage cans, which is a lot of times why the reviews are bad.

Mazda 626 was my first car, too. Minus the manual, since I can't drive a stick, and though I tried to learn. I wanted a Protege, but the 626 was a better deal.
We received a renewal notice yesterday for our homeowners insurance. For the house we sold, in September. The mortgage company never notified the insurance.
Hellooo $500 back!!!
I am so freaking happy we don't have that mortgage company anymore.
