What do you guys think of painting the wall behind my bed BM Hale Navy and get similarly colored curtains?
I freaking love Hale Navy but I think I'd start with the curtains. Also, I'd get bigger lamps for your night tables and do a bench at the end of the bed.

All things on my list =) Plus something to go on the wall....maybe mirrors above the bedside tables and art above the bed... or framed art above the bedside tables....
This is a total FWP but our ceilings are 9ft and make my usual target furniture look like doll furniture. lol. I'm sure my grandmother's dresser is going to be dwarfed by them too. I'm not sure how to get around this without spending a ton of money on expensive furniture. I have a set of Target bookshelves in there now, and they look ridiculous.
How about something like Nama has where the upper third is a different color than the lower 2/3s of the wall? It will draw the eye where it needs to be. Or, alternatively, hang larger art at eye level to trick the eye into focusing there.
I'm late to the game but wanted to share mine. Sheets are in the wash so forgive my bare pillows. I really want to get some big euro shams but I can't decide on a color/pattern.

I'm invested in your bedroom now, I'm glad we're still talking about it. I love Hale Navy (I have it in DS1's room). Are you thinking just an accent wall?
West Elm has some velvet drapes that look pretty close to Hale Navy:
I love your style so I'm glad you're invested! =) I can't decide between accent wall and the whole room....WDYT?
For the space where our dressers used to be, I have a white 4x4 ikea cube shelf that could take up a lot of space. Then I thought maybe some plants or pretty baskets on either side of it?

LOL. Our bedroom looks like a frat boy's room with mismatched furniture and a rumpled, constantly unmade bed. Except full of a five year old's toys, for some reason.

Gorgeous! This looks so much like every room I pin on Pinterest. Well done.
Does all the furniture have to stay in the room, @tambcat ?
I would move the cabinet perhaps to where the book shelves are right now. Do you need the book shelves in the room? Perhaps just bed, side tables, lamps, dresser and then the cabinet.

No, almost none of it is staying! Only the bed and (for now at least) the nightstands. I do need some kind of storage for the books. I have nowhere else to keep them. I have the cabinet on craigslist right now. Hopefully it's the first to go. We used to have it in our dining room at our old house, but.. no dining room anymore.
Have you thought about something like the book shelves in your living room? I am thinking something light like that would be pretty in the room. They could even be a fun color for a bit of pop.
I like the bed. We have an iron-type bed and I love it.
