my ring that is. i love my diamond.. but haven't ever been in LOVE with my ring. i've had to have it sized and fixed and they can't get it right.. i'm seriously considering trading the setting and band in for something new.. keeping my solitare. am i an asshole?

I don't think you're an asshole for wanting to change your ring, especially with the change in your band size. Life stuff changes over time, and sometimes ring styles do too.
i'm not sentimental about it at all.. i think it's because i couldn't find a band that was perfect and didn't want a matchy matchy set.. but kinda did.. i dunno.. it was stupid. i felt bad becasue h got me a solitare and not a set and so i just found a band to go with it.. there was no, the diamond is in this band and we'll find you a set when you're ready to pick one out.. so i felt stuck.. knowing h doesn't care, i kinda wanna trade up.
also, my fsil has a similar ring. i don't know what her band will look like but i'd like something all my own. h thinks the one i want looks like other sil but i don't think so.

which pip do you want? online they look similar, in person they don't. i'll go there today and take pics in person.. because one is very antique looking.. the other isn't. similar idea buti have a 1.15carat princess cut diamond that could slip into the setting i fell in love with. the other one is an emerald cut. similar idea.. i'll copy and paste pics from the internet now.
the setting for the diamonds is so different. the one on the bottom are prong settings i think and the other are pave.. but the ring i want looks way different in my opinion.
also, right now fsil and i both have solitares in tiffany type settings. her diamond might be a smidge bigger..or it just looks huge on her little hands.
I don't think W *loves* her ring. Or rather, she says "it's not what I would have gotten for myself". But I think the fact that it's not what she would have gotten is made up for by the fact that I put some thought into it and it is the sort of thing she likes. So, I dunno. I think maybe you are an asshole?

right.. so this is what i was thinking too.. i asked h if he thinks it's the most beautiful ring and he said no, he's seen many nicer rings.. i was talking to a co-worker today about it and she mentioned that she things my ring is ugly, lol. who knows. h & i are going to talk to the goldsmith today because how it's looking, so either he'll fix my existing ring or i'll get a new one.

My mom took all her diamonds and had a ring custom made. She LOVES it. It took a while to get it all taken care of, but she got a one of a kind ring, and I think she only paid like $800. Something to consider.
I am also too sentimental about my e-ring, but I'd get a new wedding band in a flash (mine is just a white gold band).

Your co-worker seriously said that?!?! I would be pissed! From what I remember your ring is a solitaire type simple style, right? How is that ugly?! I thought it looked fine from past postings on TK and at TK GTG where I saw you for a bit.
yes. she did. it's fine, but if i keep it i'll always be like, f u. that's fine though. she has diamonds but they're so cloudy. i've never seena cloudy diamond like that, not ever.

The words simple and elegant come to mind when I see your ring, but definitely NOT ugly! Your co-worker is on crack, she must think that only gaudy, cloudy diamond rings are pretty.
lol. i think she was just being honest, which is ok. i'm not really that mad. but i haven't made a decision either way, so who knows. plus, if that ring isn't available in a semi-mount, i won't be getting a new one.
