Folks who've seen the show (especially in Chicago), is there anything we should keep in mind? What do you wish you'd known before you went? We've listened to the soundtrack a ton.
I took a break from the soundtrack before I saw it live because I didn't want to compare the actors to the original cast members, but I compared anyway.
I wished I had gotten one particular t-shirt, so if you like it - get it!

I don't remember the red Hamilton And Eliza shirt, but I remember the others. The one I wanted isn't there - it's the "names" t-shirt: Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, etc in white and Burr is the last one in red. I haven't seen it anywhere but at the musical.

So, it was incredible. I am so sad it is over and I feel like it hasn't fully sunk in.
I just woke up but I will come back with more details about the cast and my thoughts.
This is my biggest fear. By the time we go in May in NYC, it will have been 11 months since I bought the tickets. 11 months of planning and excitement. I know it won't let me down, but I also know I'll feel so sad once it's over. It is coming to my city the following year, so I'll get to see it again, but it obviously won't be the same.

Yep, this is exactly my situation. I got the tickets for Christmas so it was a lot of anticipation leading up to yesterday. As of yesterday it still hadn't hit me that I was going to see it. I cried and held my breath when the first notes started because I couldn't believe I was there. I cried the entire second act because, well, it's sad but because I knew it was almost over.
Ok, so Javier was incredible. He's definitely a different Hamilton than Lin (granted, I didn't see Lin live and only watched a recorded video). I can't explain it but in a way he is more sheepish while still being arrogant, if that's possible.
We had Burr's understudy (I don't have his name right now because the playbill with the insert is with my bag under the bus). I wasn't a huge fan at first but by act 2 he was killing it. The Room Where it Happens was SO GOOD.
The actresses who played Eliza and Angelica were phenomenal. Watching Satisfied live was a whole other experience. The rewind is brilliant.
Rory O'Malley as King George -hilarious. We had orchestra seats so we were able to see all of his facial expressions really well. It helped the comedic relief.
Loved the actor who played Hercules Mulligan/Madison.
The actor playing Lafayette/Jefferson was so good. He was really funny and made me hate/love Jefferson.
Basically, it was amazing and while I was sad to miss the original cast, this cast did not disappoint at all.
Oh, and the seating in the theater was great. Like I said, we had orchestra but were on the right side and in a row further back. The way the seating for orchestra is, it was elevated so we had an amazing view of everything on stage. I missed a little on the right side when they were on the catwalk but noticed much is up there.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."

A friend told me that you can buy merch in the lobby while the performances are happening. I'm probably going to do some holiday shopping that way, so I can look for it if you want.
I've seen the broadway cast do this in its entirety on You Tube (obvs sucky quality) and OMG I'm crying in parts that I haven't gotten emotional about before.
This cast is absolutely phenomenal. I keep getting chills, lol.
We were in the right mezzanine, row D, seats 6 and 8.
We might have missed a bit of action on the catwalk but if we did, I didn't notice it.
The show obviously just opened a week or so ago so I think they're all still settling in to their roles. I saw the entire broadway production on you tube (crappy quality), so I am judging it against that a bit, but here goes.
Joshua Henry as Burr was AMAZING. Seriously amazing. He blew me away with Wait For It and Room Where It Happens.
Karen Olivo as Angelica seemed a bit nervous at first but UWR and I both cried during Satisfied - Karen's emotion was unreal during this song and we really felt it. I've never gotten emotional during that song, but damn. She made me cry!
King George...so, he kind of reminded me of Kermit the Frog/Eddie Redmayne in Les Mis. It was slightly disconcerting at first but half way through You'll Be Back, it didn't bother me anymore and he was hilarious. Absolutely hilarious.
Chris Lee as Lafayette/Jefferson...his French accent needs some work, and his Jefferson walk looked more like a bad limp than a smooth move, but he was a great actor and has a great voice. He killed Guns and Ships. I did find myself missing Daveed's voice because it's so unique, but Chris was very, very good.
Ari Afsar as Eliza. She's just a precious little marshmallow and she was amazing. She killed it during Burn and Who Lives, Who Dies. I mean, she killed the whole thing, really.
And Miguel as Hamilton.
Guys, holy shit. His acting was good, but his singing was *phenomenal.* He wasn't nearly as intense as Lin's Hamilton. His cockiness was a bit more cool and reserved. And he made me FEEL THINGS during Say No To This. GAH.
I was telling UWR a couple things that were slightly disappointing from him were during Quiet Uptown when Eliza takes his hand. I didn't get a whole lot of emotion from him, which bummed me out. I was also kind of underwhelmed with his soliloquy during World Was Wide Enough.
So after the play, we were getting ready to part ways but then THIS HAPPENED.
I have photos with the cast members who signed, and I'll post those in a collage or two but Miguel never came out.
Anyway, DH and I have tickets in January and I'm going to be counting the days until I can see it again. And I think it'll be interesting to see how the performance has evolved from now until then.
I think that's it. Any questions? Lol
ETA - Oh! When we were meeting the cast after, we told Karen that we were surprised at how emotional we got during Satisfied and that we've never cried during that song and she said, "yeah, me neither!" LOL.
I forgot Jonathan Kirkland as Washington! OMG. He's a super tall dude and his voice is phenomenal and he gave me chills during One Last Time and I kind of have a crush on him.
