I had one open in my neighborhood and other than thinking that it was a strange fit for the area, it never occurred to me to have any feelings about it. It didn't last long though!
We (the neighborhood association) have to vote on it before it goes any further, which is why I'm thinking about it.
I don't even like tatooos and it wouldn't bother me as long as the location made sense. As in, it's a location where other businesses operate or a mixed use area.
I wouldn't like the idea of any business starting to operate in a purely residential area without some serious thought.

It doesn't bother me. One of our elementary schools had gorgeous murals done by a local tattoo parlor owner. They have been nothing but a great asset to our community.
I might care if it was next door to my home but otherwise I wouldn't think twice of it.
This. Mainly because the traffic would be annoying. But there's a pot shop directly behind my house, so I'm pretty sure there aren't many businesses that would bother me.
I mean, I live in a suburban development with an HOA and nothing but houses, a golf course, and a community pool in walking distance, so I would be pretty surprised and upset in our current circumstances because it would have to be someone operating illegally out of their house, or like a truck up at the community center.
But if I lived in the city or next to a strip mall or something, I wouldn't care at all.
Exactly. The closest Chuck E. Cheese to us had a liquor store and a gun store as neighbors for a while. (Oh, Missouri.) That kind of caught my eye but more in a "I should really take a picture and post this on Reddit" sort of way. It's now a Bed Bath and Beyond and a Party City, which seem like better fits.
It wouldn't bother me. Tattooing is mainstream now. I'd rather have a tattoo shop than another restaurant or bar because a tattoo shop needs fewer clients, they won't be drunk and probably not open until 2am. They're no different than salon or other boutique business.

I don't care. I live in a town with 3 tattoo shops & a strip club in my town. There are no zoned commercial buildings within a half a mile of my house though.
It's been busted a couple times, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
A whole slew of "Asian massage studios" have opened throughout our city, usually in strip malls. One is right next to a community center and H and I spotted another one sharing a wall with an ice cream parlor.
Two brothels have operated quietly here for decades, but these new businesses are 1. much more numerous, and 2. embedded between regular businesses. I am deeply uncomfortable with this.
I appreciate all the responses. Tattoo studios couldn't even operate in my state until recently so I guess I'm just not used to the idea of them. I feel better reading that none of you would be concerned about having one in the hood. Thanks!!
Aren't you in Mass? It's been legal since 2001, right? So 15 years...

I wouldn't blink an eye, but I live in a part of the city in which the coffee shop employs people who wear suspenders and jeff caps and talk about soundscapes, so.
