I don't have tattoos but they don't bother me at all. Pre kids, when I had a flat stomach, I had my belly button pierced. Now there is a tattoo studio/body piercing place trying to open near me. I'm not psyched about it, but I really don't have a good reason why this particular type of business is off putting to me. Am I just being a snob?
How would you feel about a tattoo studio in your neighborhood? Would you vote yay or nay?
I wouldn't care. I don 'think think I understand what the particular concern would be. THe clientele? Do you think it's going to become some sort of hang out? I don't get it.
Well, there is already one a block away from my house and it was there when I bought this place, so obviously I didn't care. It's next to my yoga place, lol.

I mean, I live in a suburban development with an HOA and nothing but houses, a golf course, and a community pool in walking distance, so I would be pretty surprised and upset in our current circumstances because it would have to be someone operating illegally out of their house, or like a truck up at the community center.
But if I lived in the city or next to a strip mall or something, I wouldn't care at all.
There's one across the street from DDs elementary school. So far, none of the kids have come home tatted up, so it wouldn't bother me. It's also a mile from my house. I would have never thought to be bothered by it.

I appreciate all the responses. Tattoo studios couldn't even operate in my state until recently so I guess I'm just not used to the idea of them. I feel better reading that none of you would be concerned about having one in the hood. Thanks!!

I'm here too. But there are little shopping centers near the neighborhood, and my first thought about a tattoo studio going in there was "that would be nice, so I wouldn't have to deal with taking n and e downtown, or to campus, when they decide they wanted their ears pierced. Way better parking situation out here."
We have one that just opened in our quaint little downtown a mile from our house, and I generally forget it's there. I'm not sure why it is anything to be upset about.
I live in a cute little town that has actively discouraged them in the past as being "out of character" with the vibe of the community. They've actively kept Mc Donald's and Burger King at bay as well. The main argument used are operating hours; if they kept the same hours as a hair salon or barber, they'd probably prevail. Parking is limited and sometimes decisions are made based on hours of operation.
The cute little town where DS works has many top quality studios. It's part of the culture there along with art galleries, bars with live music and motorcycles. It's part of the charm of a quirky place. They also have a Mc Donald's on the outskirts of the town. I would love to move here at some point. It's expensive.
I had one open in my neighborhood and other than thinking that it was a strange fit for the area, it never occurred to me to have any feelings about it. It didn't last long though!
