When one opened in our little town, it took over the area formerly used by a bank. My first though was "Oh good, they got a tennant for that spot", my second "How is a tatoo studio going to stay in business in our suburban town?". Turns out, the owner is one of the best tatoo artists in the state and highly sought after. The business is booming.

It's only been an asset for our area.
I have a big ole sad because I just found out the artist who did my first one is booked solid until August.
AND I'VE ALREADY DRAWN MY NEXT AND IT'S SO PRETTY.

It's been busted a couple times, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
A whole slew of "Asian massage studios" have opened throughout our city, usually in strip malls. One is right next to a community center and H and I spotted another one sharing a wall with an ice cream parlor.
Two brothels have operated quietly here for decades, but these new businesses are 1. much more numerous, and 2. embedded between regular businesses. I am deeply uncomfortable with this.
According to a local radio personality, a happy endings massage parlor just opened near us too. So maybe the tattoo shop DOES bring in the riff raff!

I mean. Us tattooed folk are basically all criminals and satanists, so you know... wouldn't wanna be stopping at your local Starbucks, having just picked up the kiddos from soccer and expose the family to someone comin' outta that place!
Seriously though, is a neighborhood association like an HOA? I had no idea this was even something that would get "voted" on. And obviously I'm pro tattoo shop - as long as the artists are awesome. I'm lucky my shop is 4 blocks away.
There are at least a half dozen tattoo shops and liquor stores, a couple of sex shops, and a Target, all less than 10 minutes from my house. Why do you think I love living here?!
I wish we had a local sex shop! 25 min to the nearest tolerable one.

I would be iffy about it in my suburban neighbourhood. But that's because the majority of tattoo shops in my city are owned by bikie gangs and their main clubhouse had a drive by recently. And another tattoo shop got shot at as well. It's fine in town but not in the suburbs here.
