We just got a pilot for the 3rd car seat we will need. So far I love it and it seems big enough, but we will see when we actually use the 3rd car seat. I use the Eco option all the time and have been getting decent gas mileage. My H took my RAV4 and got rid of his Sentra.
ETA- if we were not having the 3rd, I think I would have gotten a Subaru. We live in a place that gets a lot of snow!

I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu. I love it so much. I hated driving a big SUV around. It fits two kids easily but it doesn't fit a booster in the middle so I can't carry any extra kids.

I just bought a 2015 Chevy Malibu and it's fantastic. It is replacing a Fiat which was fine when mny kid was 8, but not now that he's almost 11. My husband has an older Silverado.
I drive a Ford F-150. H has a Kia Sorrento. I drive the truck by default because I have a 6 mile commute vs H's 60 mile commute. We need a truck because we have to have something to pull the camper. I actually like it - we just got this truck it replace a Dodge Ram about 2 weeks ago.
I drive a 2012 Jeep Patriot, DH has a variety of vehicles: a 2004 Ram diesel truck, a 2016 Subaru WRX, and my favorite, the 1997 Dodge Caravan. He also has a motorcycle thrown in there for good measure.

I just traded in my Fit for a Subaru Crosstrek a couple of months ago. I really, really loved my Fit and swore I'd replace it with a new Fit when the time came.....but I LOOOOOVVVEEE my Crosstrek!
I just told MH I wanted to drive the Crosstrek. My lease is up in November and have no clue what to get. I have an escape now
LOVE it. Gas mileage is surprisingly good, considering how big it is. just got 27-30 on the highway this weekend. City has been averaging in mid low 20s.
H has a BMW sedan. The specific model is some numbers and letters. I have no idea what it is, and I find it unnecessarily extravagant, but he loves cars, and it's not even close to the car he *actually* wants, so I say nothing. Well, except here.
I have an Acura MDX and DH drives a VW Jetta. The Jetta used to be mine before we got an SUV. I am also on team it would be difficult to go back to a sedan after driving an SUV. I really love my car.
We are deciding on our next car which we need to get in the next few months so we have room to car pool. We have test driven none but are looking at:
Ford Explorer with captain seats Mercedes 7 seater GMC Acadia with captain seats Jeep Wagoneer when its finally released
Check out the new Honda Pilot. They have a captain chair option in the fully loaded model. I drove some of the ones you're considering (also needed to upgrade space for car pool purposes), and once I drove the Pilot, my search was over.

I don't like the new body style. Too mini vanesque because of how rounded the body is.
H used to drive a '96 4Runner which he loved, but it died in 2011 after 400k miles. We didn't get another SUV because my parents gave us their Camry since neither one of them were driving anymore. H's fondness for not having a car payment trumped his fondness of SUVs.
I reeeeally want a Honda Pilot. My SIL has one and I love all the space. We want another baby in the next two years, plus with 2 nephews currently in car seats/boosters and my BIL/other SIL TTC, and my nanny job, I think I'm gonna need the room within the next 5 years.

Honda Pilot, which I consider a mid sized SUV. I love it. It seats 8 (and I frequently have 6 kids in my car, and have 5 daily). I had a minivan briefly but got rid of it because I hated it so much. It was impossible to drive.
We have a Subaru Outback (because yeah, we live in the PNW and it's basically a requirement), and a Lexus CT200H hybrid hatchback. I love both of them!
