I got my Vapo. The name trick worked this time! And here's my latest lineup. I got knocked out of all my gyms today Hoping to restock my potions and take some more later.

I didn't see this already mentioned but I could have missed it...if you have Pokémon at gyms, you can collect 10 coins per pokemon every 21 (I think) hours. Go to shop and click collect to do it

Oh I wanted to mention this too. The biggest gym in my small town WAS a level 7 Valor, lead by a 1200+ CP Snorlax. Been that way for at least a week. I've visited that gym a few times, since it's located in a nice coffee shop. I went again today, and it was a level 2 Instinct! Someone (or a team of someones) took it down. That's crazy! Who defeated that ridiculous Snorlax?!?

I have enough candies to evolve an Eevee into a Flareon, and complete a trio like swizz. I am underwhelmed by my Eevee choices though. I caught a very nice 323 Eevee that evolved into a 912 Vaporean. I'm not feeling the mediocre 260 Eevee, which is the best I have. I think I'll hold out for a few days and see if I can catch a better one.

I agree. I haven't seen most of yours chile! never seen a Jynx, Beedrill, hypno, or Venomoth. I keep using up my Weedle candy to get evolution XP, instead of saving them to make a Beedrill. Maybe b/c I'm scared of bees? I don't wanna see that on my screen!

Here's mine swizz and chilerellanos. It's relatively unchanged from yesterday. I caught that nice 574 Pinsir today. It's crazy how much stardust and candy I spent getting my first Pinsir from 400 (when I caught him) to 650, then I go and catch a 574!

swizz have you battled with your Weepinbell? I have a nice Bellsprout I'm think about evolving. I'm really looking for something to take down all the fucking Vaporeans that fill the gyms around here. Electric and Grass are strong against water. Jolteon is the weakest of the Eeveelutions, I'm not going to beat a strong Vaporean with that. I need something else.

lol. I'm coming in to brag on my day. It's pitiful in comparison. It's fun traveling to a new city and seeing what they have. NYC financial district had a Doduo at literally every Pokestop this evening. Then I got to the hotel and a Dodrio popped up, which kinda made my evolve anticlimactic.

So am I supposed to power up the Pokemon before evolving them? Or is that a waste of stardust?

This thing is addicting. If I load it at my desk the gps sometimes puts me close enough to get the nearest stop.

My town only has a population of 9,000, so a lot less people playing pokemon than where you live, I'm sure. The gyms here are full of 900-1200 vaporeans and Flareons, with a random Snorlax, Execcutor, or Lapras. I think the highest CP I've seen is the low 1700s.

I've been reading lots of Pokemon Go articles while I nurse DD, and half say evolve, then power up and the other half say power up, then evolve. So I don't think either way is the "right way." I've been saving the high-level wild Pokemon I catch, evolving them, and then powering up. It's been going okay. I think with my last Eeveelution I'm going to power up the Eevee first and then evolve, see how that goes. Powering up an evolved Eevee takes a TON of stardust. I think my Vaporeon and Jolteon need 1300 stardust, Eevee only needs 1000.

What team are you? I'm instict and almost everyone here is Valor. The guy who won the gym beat like a 400 something magikarp so it's not like I was a hard win haha

Yeah the "swoop in and steal the open gym" thing is why I nabbed the gym leader spot right away, rather than healing my Vaporeon. I knew none of my Pokemon were strong enough to hold the gym for very long, regardless of which I picked. I wanted that screenshot more than I wanted to potentially lose the gym

Plus, I don't really like Vaporeon. He's disproportionately strong, it doesn't really seem fair. The gyms here are FULL OF THEM, it's booooring. Yeah it's the strongest Pokemon I have, but I'm BEC with him

The only thing I've beat a Vaporeon with is a Vaporeon (on H's) act. A hypno and a pigeot. I beat a couple lower level Vaporeons with my flareon but she was 2/300 higher than them.

I'm mystic. I was really worried when I saw the 4 gyms here were all valor, but there's been a ton of turnover lately, as I already said. I think when I left downtown there were 2 mystic, 1 valor, 1 instinct.

I haven't met any team mystic here. Mostly Valor and a handful of instinct. My bother is mystic and a much higher level (23 maybe now) He swears it's the best but I know he's wrong

Same here, the only thing I've beat a Vaporepn with is my Vaporeon. Then a Jolteon and Pidgeot. I want to develop a Vaporeon killer, but I don't think it exists in the game. Vaporeon is disproportionately strong.

When I say hi to people on the street who are also playing, they're mostly valor. It's definitely the "cool kids" team, which is exactly why I didn't pick it

Almost everyone I know is Valor but the other night at the park we met around 10 team instinct. We battled with them and took gyms, dropped some lures...it was just awesome. My kids were blabbing away and having a blast. It's just such a fun game.

I very rarely get time without the kids, so this afternoon after DH finished WFH and the kids were napping, I went downtown to play. I only had an hour, and was super psyched to take over that gym. When I got home, DH (who doesn't play) very sweetly let my prattle on about taking over the gym. DS, who's 4.5 and has no idea what Pokemon is, said "you beat a gym?!?! That is SO COOL mom, good job!" And gave me a high five (heart). He was so sweet, excited simply because I was excited, and he wanted to be empathetic.

That sounds awesome! I'm having a ton of fun too. I've getting a lot of exercise, going new places, meeting new people. DD is happy to come along for the ride. I haven't let DS play, he's...uhhh...not gentle with expensive things like my phone. Plus he'd waste all my poke balls. Considering I'm paying for most of them (due to lack of pokestops), I can't just let him throw them willy nilly.

DD isn't really into it, but she helps us nickname everyone, hence Cotton Candy, Baby Gum, Apple Jack, Rainbow Dash, Firestorm and Deathstroke lol.

I'm mystic but my local gyms routinely flip between all three teams.

I met a woman playing a few days ago in my neighborhood and then I saw her at whole foods today and we chatted for a bit. I never would have met her except for Pokemon.
