I got one of my pokemon into a level 10 gym today! I'd like to see valor take that over MH was in it when it was level 9 but got kicked out, so they must have tried and failed. We tag teamed to get it up to level 10. It takes 50000 points, crazy! We also got a different gym up to 6 but it was taken over after a couple hours. Also took down a red gym, but that one had been changing hands all evening. I claimed my defender prize with 2 gyms though, so that makes me happy. I hate claiming with only one, seems like a waste.
I'm glad James is pretty content to sit in the stroller while we walk around downtown. Otherwise this would suck. But we keep him out too late :/ At least he's easygoing.
Awesome job awkwardpenguin and biogirl21! Everyone is taking over gyms today, woot woot! And awkwardpenguin that's an awesome Lapras! I love the look on it's face, like "I'm awesome and I know it!"
Heheh I convinced DS to take a walk with me while DH and DD shopped at the farmers market. I caught a 747 Pinsir (!!!), a 371 Clefairy, and a very nice 393 Eevee who will become my Flareon later this afternoon once I have time to use a lucky egg. DS and I ended our walk at the park, where I tried in vain to take it down but I kept running out of time. Damn 1200 Vaporeons clogged up all the gyms
Yay kategm! I've never seen one. I'll just keep cranking away on my 2km eggs, hoping to get one. Yesterday's 2km egg was a rattata, today's was a goddamn pidgey!
However, I am 0.5km away from hatching my 10km egg. I can't wait!

I'm on the way to rural Vermont for vacation. Limited cell phone reception. I fear my Pokemon go will be delayed by this pause and I'm going to be so far behind after a week.
I used a lucky egg and incense while the kids napped, and evolved a ton! My 393 Eevee evolved into a 929 Flareon, who's now over 1000 after powering up. I also evolved two new-to-me Pokemon, Venomoth and Weepinbell. I also evolved several pidgeys, rattatas, and weedles. Got me all the way to level 17! It's now 20,000 XP to level up, so it's going to take me awhile longer between levels.
I think my next two goals are a Parasect and a better Jolteon. I evolved my current Jolteon over a week ago, and he's just not anywhere near my other two Eeveelutions. I've read that the naming trick works ONCE per Eeveelution, and I used the trick on Vaporeon and Flareon already (thank you swizz!!).
My 10k egg should hatch tonight while we're walking to dinner, I can't wait to see what it is!
My 10km egg was a 394 scyther. Which would have been cool, except I caught one a few days ago. Out of the SEVENTEEN possible 10k Pokemon, I only already had 3 of them (scyther, Eevee, and Pinsir). I was SO SURE I was going to get something awesome out of this egg. Like an electabuzz, Magmar, or Lapras. Boo. It's not even a good scyther either! Only 50% of the way up it's CP curve.
swizz I saw this and thought of you. We went on a date one county away, so I got to see some new gyms. This is the first time I've seen s Gyrardos anywhere. And we weren't anywhere near the water, so this took some serious work on the trainer's part.

I have 300 candies! I think I can evolve by the end of the week!
Is anyone else totally underwhelmed by their eggs? I've hatched 7 so far. Two 2km (rattata and pidgey), four 5km (sandshrew, Wigglytuff, Rhydon, and Voltorb), and one 10km (scyther). Not only am I disappointed in the varieties I hatched, but their CP's aren't any good either. I catch 400-600 CP wild Pokemon on the regular, I would thinking walking 10 kilometers should get me something better than a 394 scyther. He's not even in the top six ROWS of my lineup.
@supergreen My 10km Electabuzz is only 284 CP. Not even halfway up the arc.
Other than the Pikachu, I've almost exclusively gotten Weedles from 2km eggs. Gee thanks.
Sorry I'm coming to the realization that the best part of eggs is the stardust and candies. I got 2400 stardust and 19 candies from that 10km scyther. That's catching 24 pidgeys. And if I ever catch a good wild scyther, I'll have plenty of candies to power him up.
Sweet! If you make it to 21 hours you can collect coins and XP.
Damn. I just lost one of them.
Damn it! Sorry Defending a gym is really hard. As a defender, you get ONE Pokemon, who can't dodge. And attackers get SIX. Obviously the system is set up so that gyms get turned over frequently.
@boognish I'm going to keep hatching 2km eggs, hoping for a pikachu or clefairy. I REALLY want to evolve one of my clefairies into a Clefable, but 50 candies is a lot! I'm halfway there. Getting 15+ candies from an eggs would help a hell of a lot.

I always like getting new guys added to my Pokedex, so I'm mainly just disappointed if I have them already. But yeah, the CP of them is never as good as I see in the wild.
I'm so mad at the Pokemon that vanish immediately when escaping an egg. I seriously don't even get a 2nd try even though I did nothing wrong? The Psyduck and Magnemite and Growlithe all did this to me. SO FRUSTRATING.
But I did catch Meowth today and he's adorable.
And a magicarp. Which was stupidly hard to catch given a CP of 10!

Good to know it's not just me. Yeah I was disappointed my 10km egg was one I already had. I though for sure I was getting something new.

I've had lots of Pokemon running away from me too. Like I'll use a razz berry and a great ball, get a good toss, the ball wiggles two times and I get excited, then POOF they're gone. Little fuckers.
DD was tantruming the other day so I distracted her with looking at Pokemons in my collection. She is now obsessed. She's constantly asking for my phone and it's getting annoying. It's MY game! And she wasted all of my balls on a flipping zubat today and I've had to spend all night refreshing the Pokestop my hotel is at so I have a fighting chance of getting anything I might see tomorrow. 2yr olds, man. They ruin everything.
Eta And she accidentally hit the evolve button on my doduo and I'd been saving it for my lucky egg. I'm so close to level 16 and I can't get it to tonight like I'd planned.
What goals/pokemon are you guys currently working on? I'm curious. I was working hard trying to get Eevee's and Venonats to evolve into Flareon and Venomoth, respectively. Which I accomplished today. I also hatched my only 10km egg. So next I really want a Parasect and Clefable. I'm halfway to getting each of their candies. 50 is a lot!! Plus back to catching Eevee's to make a better Jolteon. I'd like to get 3-4 Pokemon up to level 1200 or so, that seems to be where most of the gym leaders are in my town. I just broke 1000 on my two Eeveelutions.
My clefable has been at the gym for nearly 36 hours! If he makes it until morning, I get more coins!
I caught a few new ones today - meowthe, Mankey, dragonite (cp 10 LOL), diglett. I had a bunch do the poof runaway thing which is infuriating.
When I do a razz berry, I notice my next two tosses do some sparkle thing and then veer to the side. Wtf am I doing wrong?
I also hate the battery life of this game. I was at a park today all day and had to charge my phone twice. I just wanted to let the game run since I was walking so much and it totally killed my phone.
I'm not sure, haha. I'd like to get stronger Pokemon, but I don't like powering existing ones because I ALWAYS find stronger ones in the "wild".
I want a freaking Pikachu. MH got one from an egg last night Jerk.
I'd like to collect some rarer Pokemon, like Mewtwo or Mew, but I have no idea where to find them. I'd also like to get the 3 starters and evolve them, but I've only seen 3 Squirtles, 1 Bulbasaur and no Charmanders, so it doesn't seem likely in the near future.
I'd also like to continue to level. At 18 now.
10 Pokemon in gyms is a pipe dream. They change over too much here!
biogirl21 I've read that no one has seen the legendary Pokemon in the game yet. That include Mew, Mewtwo, Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. They're in the metadata for the game, so they'll exist at some point, but not yet. I bet Niantic will save them for some big event or convention. Nobody has seen the master ball either. It's likely to be released the same time as Mewtwo.
peggy the shiny ball that tosses weird thing is a curve ball. You can do it on any pokeball, it doesn't have anything to do with using a Razz Berry. If you hold down the ball and jiggle it around, it will start spinning and get shiny. If you throw it and hit the Pokemon you get a 10 XP "curveball" bonus and a better chance of the Pokemon staying in the ball. I don't do it b/c 10 XP isn't worth it to me to miss so many times, because the ball curves really weirdly when you throw it.
And peggy it does totally kill battery life! I understand why though, you're constantly using location services to generate the map AND constantly using cellular data to ping Ninatic's servers to generate Pokemon. ONE of those things is a battery drain, TWO is a battery killer. Someone upthread posted this portable charger, I'm going to get it.
