I want to join the Pokemon chat! I'm having so much fun even though it's hard to get out on these really hot days with a 2 month old. We went on a short hike today and ate lunch at pokestops yesterday and today to stock up on balls. I also took over 4 gyms although they're all gone now, I felt like a badass at the time
Hello and welcome! What team are you? Post a pic of your lineup, we'd love to see. What goals/Pokemon are you working on?
ETA: I see you posted your lineup already, very nice!!
I'm actually really loving the gym battles! I think I want to focus on getting a stable of nice strong Pokemon of various types to make a well rounded team for battles and also figure out who's strong on defense for defending gyms I take Any strategy suggestions? Currently level 15.

I've been using The Silph Road. Best Pokemon Go data out there. Their species stats are very informative, as are their IV rater.
As you can see, a high attack value would be a good gym attacker (high CP relative to other types), good defense is a good one to leave at a gym (high HP relative to other types), and stamina is how quickly they attack and how long it takes to power their special attack. As you can see, gym are full of Vaporeons because it's high in all 3 values. A Dragonite is the best out of the non-Legendary Pokemon. Arcanine is best fire, Golduck is quite a good water (swizz), Execcutor is better than he's given credit for.
I like the IV rater to rate individual Pokemon you already have. Fill in the stats and get your rating. My new Clefable is "a solid, decent 'Mon" and my Eeveelutions all suck apparently
Ok LoveTrains here is what I would do. Use an incense and walk around, catch everything you can. Then the next time, take stock of what you have and what you can evolve to get XP (like pidgey, Weedle, and caterpie). Take another walk with incense, and use a lucky egg. Evolve all the Pokemon you'd saved up. With the lucky egg you'll get 1,000XP for each evolution, plus 200XP for each Pokemon you catch that you already have. Maybe you'll get lucky and catch a new-to-you Pokemon, which with the lucky egg will get you 2,000XP. If you can time the lucky egg to when one of your kilometer eggs will hatch, that's even better. If you can do this a few times while you're on vacation, your gaming should be fine. You'll have to spent some money to buy incense and lucky eggs, but I do that all the time anyway
I will try - but I'm on a lake down a 4 mile dirt road. I have one bar of service if I stand just so on the porch (how I'm doing This now) but no service along the road or at the lake. And like I said, the town has no pokestops. We are going to a bigger tourist area tomorrow so I'll see if I can get something there. Thanks for the ideas. We were in another small town last night and I had no service on my cell.
Our brunch place yesterday was a poke stop, I tried to grab more pokeballs without being a total asshole.
I am annoyed with the heat cause it is too hot to take the baby out for long. I am planning on taking the baby to the mall today and grab some pokemon and pokeballs.
I've been saving up Caterpie candies for forever so I can evolve my Metapod. I was really close until DD accidentally hit the evolve button on my Caterpie yesterday and I lost 12 candies! I was so irrationally upset about it.
When y'all are catching the high-level pokemon, how many balls are you using? I wasted like 20 balls trying to catch a Butterfree yesterday! I used razz berries and it still kept escaping! I feel like I am doing something wrong
I am not close to many poke stops so I feel like I need to hoard my balls. I already bought 100 and lied to H about it, lol.

Do you have great balls? I think you get those starting level 12. I can usually catch 800 CP Pokemon with 1 or 2 of those and a razzberry.
Not yet!! Still on level 9. I will just have to buy my way up until I get them I guess!

Thanks for answering my dumb questions!!
There are no dumb questions! We are happy to help! I've noticed that the game seems to increase the chance of a Pokemon breaking out of balls JUST BEFORE you're about to level up to get a better quality of balls. Like alllll my Pokemon broke out of their balls when I was level 9-11, I think because great balls appear at level 12. The razz Berry + great ball combo swizz uses worked great for me from level 12-17. Now I'm 18 and once again alllll my Pokemon are breaking out, i think because ultra balls appear at level 20. I think it's the game's way to encourage you to level up your trainer, to get better stuff.
I digress. I've found the best way to get them to STAY THE FUCK IN (ahem) is a good toss when the ring is smallest. It's confirmed that a toss bonus (good, great, excellent) increases the odds of a capture. So I've started really concentrating on tossing the ball THROUGH the little hole, to get a good or great ball toss bonus (excellent is really hard). That has improved my capture rate.
Should I evolve my CP 329 Krabby or wait for a higher level one to evolve?
Use the Pokemon toolkit. It will tell you the CP of the next evolution. If the eventual Kingler's CP is as good or better than your current top Pokemon, I would go ahead and evolve it.

My 106 magikarp will evolve to a 1070-1250 Gyrados. That's still the highest CP Magikarp I've come across is 100ish caught.
Also have a 386 Exeggecute which will evolve to close to 1000.
You're welcome! I've been playing with it to see if it makes better sense to power up, THEN evolve or vice versa. For example, I bet it's less stardust and candies to power up Magikarp than Gyrardos. So swizz if I were you, I'd play with the toolkit to see how high you should power your Magikarp to get the best Gyrardos, without wasting stardust and candies KWIM. Like a 120 Magikarp (probably 1-2 power ups for the one you already have) will get you a Gyarados with 1212-1416 CP. So possibly 200+ more CP Gyrardos, for powering up Magikarp first.
Another example swizz. I had been holding onto a 368 Clefairy (best I'd ever caught) and was saving up candies to evolve into Clefable. Then I CAUGHT a 1020 Clefable. Before I spent my limited stardust powering up my new Clefable, I checked the toolkit to see if I should evolve that Clefairy, or keep my new Clefable. The toolkit said that Clefairy would evolve into a 800-900ish Clefable. So I didn't do that. I used my stardust powering up the 1020 Clefable I just caught. That was helpful info to me!
I finally caught enough Paras to evolve my best one into Parasect! I named it Enoki after the mushroom type, that's my favorite nickname so far. So I've accomplished both my goals I mentioned a few days ago (Parasect and Clefable)! Next up is a better Jolteon, but that's going to take awhile.
