I'm glad I am not the only one with the curve ball issue. It is incredibly frustrating!
It's only happened to me a couple times. Not non-stop like the poster in the ML thread. And it does happen more often if I switch items. Like if I do a razz Berry, then switch to a great ball, I'm more likely to get the shiny wonky ball that just won't fly straight. I don't do that combo very often b/c j don't have many of those two items. It's got to be a spectacular Pokemon, like the 920 Tauros I caught yesterday, for me to use both.
LOL - that poster is me. It happens all the time! Ridiculous. But I had no idea it happened with item switching - I never really noticed. I'm going to have to pay more attention and see if that is the issue.

LOL oh ok it is you! Sorry, I didn't recognize the screen name. I know curve balls are supposed to legitimately happen when you hold down the ball, swirl it around (or jiggle it back and forth) until it gets shiny, then throw. That's what a legitimate "SUPPOSED to be a curveball is."
Since this is negatively impacting your game, I would try not holding the ball at all. Literally tap and flick to throw. You'll always be throwing when the circle is large, which is a lower risk of capture, but you're said you're already wasting a ton of balls b/c they throw crazy. I've already read that if you turn off AR, you'll see the Pokemon big on the screen for a brief moment before it zooms back out to be caught. You could try throwing the instant the Pokemon appears, when it's still large on the screen.

I do have AR turned off already, because battery power and all, but I'll try throwing right away and the flick/throw thing (Bend...and snap! Flick...and throw!)
Grrrr. I don't know why I am letting a game frustrate me so much. LOL

Good luck! That would frustrate the hell out of me too. As I said, I've only had it happen a few times. But I think I yelled "STOP THROWING CRAZY you stupid ball!" At my phone :-| So I'm right there with you, in being overly invested in this game.
Kit and welcome to our PoGo thread ! What level are you? Can we see your lineup? What goals/Pokemon are you working towards?
LOL! Thanks! I guess I'm truly ridiculous now that I am posting in both threads! NOT ASHAMED.
So! Only Level 14. I have not bothered to evolve most of them, I am waiting I hit Level 20 - I plan to use a lucky egg, hit all my Evolutions and Power Up's, and hopefully move through the levels faster, since the higher ones take more XP to push through. IDK, that's what my H said to do and he seems to know what he is talking about so I'll follow him!
I have a ton, but these are my favorite/less common. I also have the pain in the ass rats, weedles, caterpries, etc. I have a lot of evees that I am saving to evolve, too.
rootbeerfloat, I have 330 Magikarp candies and I get them ALL DAY ERRRY DAY at work and I'm still 70 candies from evolving, lol
That said, the best I've gotten is a 106. I'm starting to wonder if higher CP Magikarps even exist.
LOL I am soooo overly invested in your eventual Gyarados swizz. I can't wait to see him. Did you see my tip about playing with the PoGo Toolkit? Might be worthwhile to level up a Magikarp before you evolve it.
I am really pushing hard to get to level 20 by Saturday night, for my local PoGo event. I want to be able to camp at that pokestop they're putting lures on and get ultra balls. Hopefully the higher level trainers will attract good Pokemon, like that 1020 Clefable I caught by being near a level 21 & 24 trainers.
ETA: I am on the verge of level 19. But then there's 25,000 XP to level 20!
Pokevision works about 25% of the time for me. The majority of the time it says "can't find GPS coordinates" (what?), or simply doesn't load, or gets stuck on processing (the 3 poke books just twirl forever).
I went out today and got 5 magicarps, 5 psyducks, and my first dratini and horsea! Plus some other random ones. The dratini tried to get in the baby stroller!
Well that was a sucky incense time. Of the 6 Pokemon that showed up, 3 ran away. A Paras, Ratatta, and a fucking ESCAPE ARTIST pikachu. The razz berries are definitely causing the crazy curve balls for me Kit. I've had no trouble throwing balls all morning, until I used a razz Berry on that pikachu. Then all balls after that went crazy. I used all 12 of my great balls (only 2 of them actually hit the pikachu), and 11 regular poke balls (3 hit). So I ran out of goddamn balls and was forced to RUN AWAY FROM A PIKACHU.

::stomps around and throws a tantrum::
Omg I would die!! Ugh I'm all upset on your behalf and need to go make sure I have enough balls for a pikachu emergency now.

Yeah I'm pretty peeved. I hatched my first pikachu yesterday, so at least I already have one. But I could always have more!!
