You can start getting great balls at level 12, from pokestops. I think super balls are level 15 or something like that. And ultra balls after that.

Ahh, that's why I haven't seem them yet, I'm level 11.   I've also tried turning off the AR and still couldn't get the damn Jynx this morning.

Were you missing hitting it, or was it constantly breaking free? Jynx may simply have a high escape rate. I usually turn off AR, use a razz berry, a super ball, and try very hard to throw when the ring is at it's smallest. Granted I've never seen a Jynx!

She escaped a bunch of times, but the other times I either missed cause she kept moving or she knocked the balls away.  Maybe it's just because she's a more difficult catch, cause with the regular crappy ones I could get them with just one or two balls.

I'd hurry up and level up to 12 to get great balls. They improve your capture rate by about 20%. I'm sorry you lost the Jynx, that sucks.

Oh yeah I never use AR to catch the Pokemon. A it drains your battery and B they are easier to catch when you have it off.

My issue with the growlithe was it escaped ONE ball and then disappeared in a puff of smoke. Boo.

It's interesting that jynx are considered hard to find. I see them a lot but I can't get a pickachu and I've only seen like three rattatas. I think a lot depends on your neighborhood. I caught a tentacruel at work and I was thrilled and I notice different ones appear in those locations.

I've never seen a Jynx, pikachu, or tentacool. My town is all pidgey, rattata, weedle, and caterpie. The occasional goldeen, Polywag, or Horsea. Also the occasional Eevee. I was thrilled when I caught 2 random clefairy, and growlithe in a Rite Aid of all places!

I think Seaking (the evolved form of Goldeen) is a decent water Pokemon. It's no Psyduck, but still could be interesting. Good luck with the rest of your eggs! I'm considering buying more incubators.

We went to Chili's last night, which is a gym. DS wanted to battle, and while doing so, I notice the table next to us looking at us and giggling. The guy said "I can't let that little kid steal my gym!" For the record, DS got his ass kicked lol. But it was funny.

We caught a Pikachu and have seen a few here and there.

I had a very productive lunch break. I dropped a lure, incense and lucky egg. I finally made it to Level 12 and caught my first Jynx, Staryu and Tentacruel!

So I went to a gym for the first time today; I was too scared to battle but I wanted to drop someone off for coins, but I couldn't figure out how! Do I need to be at a certain level to do that?

There has to be an open slot at a gym for you to drop someone off for coins. Most, if no all, gyms are full at this point. You'd need to battle and win (kicking out your opponent) to take their slot.

I mean, I catch just a TON of crap ones, and use those. I also have a pretty good loop of pokestops that are popular and have lures near me. I have several churches, a running trail, and two big, popular parks within a quarter mile of my house. One of the parks has two gyms and 7 pokestops.

Thanks for answering, that's good info. Even though I catch a TON of crap, it's the same crap. I don't want or need a strong Raticate, KWIM? Getting 50 paras candy to evolve into a Parasect is extremely daunting, and getting 100 nindoran candy to get my nindorina into a nidoqueen will simply never happen.

I'm lucky if I get one pokestop a day Living on a farm in a small town sucks for this game. I feel like I know HOW to play very well, but can't find child-free time to walk anywhere to look for anything. The best walking area on Main Street has 3 pokestops and 2 gyms. And that's an hour walk if I make it a loop back to my car.

Maybe I should be content to have a really great Pidgeot, Golbat, and Raticate? The evolved forms of the 3 Pokemon I catch the most? I feel like that's so lame. I want something cool!

Does your town have a library that's a pokestop? My town is super small too but our library is a pokestop and WiFi is free. I take the kids and they play and I just refresh every 5 min. One park has a handful here so we can walk those too.

Are you hatching eggs? I've caught a handful of cooler Pokés but my more interesting ones have come from eggs. I always have my incubators full. If you time it right, you can hatch your eggs, evolve the surplus Pokémon like the rattatas, (then transfer later) and be at a pokestop while using a lucky egg and level up fast. I'm 15, my H is 16. I only have one over 1k cp but H has two or three. Plenty to battle with though.

As you level up you should be seeing higher level Pokémon. Also, using a lucky egg, a lure and incense can draw in some better ones. It's kind of hit or miss though. I used a lure the other night and just got gobs of pidgys. Then another guy used one and a handful of cooler stuff appeared.

Our town's library and park are the PLACE TO BE lol. They are so busy in the evenings... it's kind of fun. H's office is in the same area, and his building is a stop, so his company is hosting Pokemon event tonight to take advantage of the traffic.

They've been down all day here an I don't have great cell coverage on one half of the town. It's super annoying. A friend in NYC sent me an awesome pic with pokestops covered in confetti everywhere. We don't have that here haha

Rainy. But it didn't work for me. I have 2 flareons. :/ Val and Jolt are better fighters.

My friend said to look at the attacks and choose which eevee to evolve from there. I can't remember which is which. There's an article floating around though that has the info in it.

And lattelady5 I read it's an Easter Egg in the game, a special feature. I don't think it was a glitch, it should continue working.

I am seriously debating whether to get a Flareon or Vaporean. I know the Vaporean is the better fighter, but the gyms here are FULL OF THEM, they're almost commonplace. But I would like a strong Pokemon. Decisions, decisuons.

I'll try it again with my next eevee evolution. My H's Vaporeon and my flareon have been close to the same levels and he's always been able to slaughter mine. When we first started taking gyms, he would take out the leader but then I'd take the gym first so he can train and beat me and join. We both have higher levels seconds and thirds now but his Vaporeon is just a beast. I did beat a couple Vaporeon's but only because I dodged. They're just awesome fighters.

Today has been extra bad. I walked like 5k steps at lunch and only got like .4 on my eggs. Stupid thing wouldn't stay up. 

Ugh that sucks I'm sorry! I'll stop complaining, as I've had a comparatively good day. The game stayed up and running all through my errands and 2K walk with the kids. I even was lucky enough to find a pokestop with a lure already running at just the right time that the kids needed a water break & rest. I caught enough crap Pokemon to evolve a Pidgeot AND Fearow (whenever the servers are finally back up). And I have enough candies to evolve an Eevee. I also hatched a 5K egg into an Abra.
