And lattelady5 I read it's an Easter Egg in the game, a special feature. I don't think it was a glitch, it should continue working.
I am seriously debating whether to get a Flareon or Vaporean. I know the Vaporean is the better fighter, but the gyms here are FULL OF THEM, they're almost commonplace. But I would like a strong Pokemon. Decisions, decisuons.
I'll try it again with my next eevee evolution. My H's Vaporeon and my flareon have been close to the same levels and he's always been able to slaughter mine. When we first started taking gyms, he would take out the leader but then I'd take the gym first so he can train and beat me and join. We both have higher levels seconds and thirds now but his Vaporeon is just a beast. I did beat a couple Vaporeon's but only because I dodged. They're just awesome fighters.
Well the slaughtering makes sense, fire Pokemon are extremely weak against water Pokemon. Pair that up with Vaporean being stronger than Flareon overall, and yeah you would lose. It's not just CP, Vaporean also has high HP (so it can take lots of hits) and it's quick move (water gun) fires extremely quickly, so it can give lots of damage rapidly. Only Snorlax and Lapras are stronger Pokemon.
I got all excited about the app update for a moment, thinking FOR SURE they would be fixing the 3 footprint glitch (all Pokemon show as 3 footsteps away). But newp, this update is for "minor text fixes" ::eye roll::
Ok it seems to be working well for me. Decision making time: do I evolve my 323 Eevee into a Vaporean or Flareon? i already have a Jolteon. swizzkategmchilerellanosawkwardpenguin
There is a gym by me that is guarded by Exeggutor. It is so funny looking
I agree, weird looking. But a potent combination! It's the only grass/psychic combo in the whole game. That gives it lots of strengths and not many weaknesses.

Ugh I had one of those but lost it when the app froze. Le sigh.
There was a Kakuna in my house today! I've been playing a week and only one other Pokemon has entered my house, and it was a Pidgey. Exciting night over here!
ETA unless I used incense. Then they'd come to me.
And I'm done catching rattatas. They're so worthless. You can't even evolve them more than once (like the Pidgey) so once you hit 25 candies (which can be done in a day where I live) it's so anticlimactic. And a waste of poke balls.

I agree, so worthless. And in terms of volume, they're 50% of the Pokemon I see. I keep catching them just to get the stardust, and I save 1 to evolve to get 500 XP when I pop a lucky egg. I only use regular poke balls on them of course, and only 1 or 2 per rattata. If I've thrown two balls and the rattata still isn't caught, I just run away.

That's exciting! Hopefully you can evolve it into a Beedrill soon. I've never caught a Pokemon in my house without incense.
I'm waiting for DD to take her morning nap, so I can use an incense, pop a lucky egg, and get evolving! I'll get a Vaporean, Fearow, and Pidgeot. And get XP evolving some crap (caterpie, rattata, and Weedle). And hopefully catch something with the incense. I'll report back around 10:30 EST!
ETA: with the Pidgeot, I'm trying a technique I read online. I read that to get max CP, you should start with a high-level almost-maxed-out-white-curve pidgey, and do both evolutions at once. So 62 candies to go straight from pidgey to pidgeotto to Pidgeot. I have a 167 pidgey that's 90% on its max curve. I'm curious to see if it ends up with more CP than a pigeotto I caught in the wild, which evolved into a 212 Pidgeot.
I was finally able to evolve a Drowzee into Hypo, so he's now my top player!! I'm really close to being able to evolve Pidgeotto and Eevee too and am 30 pts away from level 13!

That's awesome! Hypno is a great player! And with him finally evolved, you can power him up and get a great player. What's his level? I'd love to see a screenshot!

I'm taking a short drive with DS this morning to walk around the one area near us with a ton of poke stops. There's nothing near our house except a gym at the playground, but I don't have anything strong enough to battle with yet.
Here's my current guys. MH and I went and walked around the downtown area about 20 minutes away from us last night and got tons of Pokemon. I love when people place lures so I don't have to! Tons of pokestops there. I think I'm going to take J to our downtown area today and walk around, if it doesn't get stupid hot. There's a few pokestops and 4 gyms and I have 2 5K eggs that are close to hatching.
I really hate gyms though. They change over so much that wasting the potions (and time!) doesn't really feel worth it to me. I helped MH level a gym to 6 so he could put someone in there but it would have taken forever to get to 7 and our phones were almost dead. Red will probably take it over today though :/
I'm so confused though. I've read some stuff that says the game doesn't really use much data. By we're almost at 2 GB after 16 days into our month. And it's my phone using most of it and I play more that MH. So if it's not the game, what is it? I think I might increase us to the 5GB data plan since it's only $10 more a month. Phone plans are too expensive for what it costs them to provide, ugh. Same with cable. Jerk gougers.

I've already evolved one into a beedrill. The hard way - all the way from a weedle. I catch so many of those guys it didn't take long.
Very nice vtdiamond! Did you catch that Electabuzz or hatch it? Also, if you can save up enough candies to evolve that female Nidoran, I think you'd get a nice Nidorina. That worked well for me
Wow biogirl21 you've got a great lineup! Very versatile, good mix of types. You look like you could wipe out a gym! Jealous of your Lickitung in particular. And that's a nice Venomoth! I've been hoarding Venonat candies for what seems like forever, but I'm only at 19 out of the 50 I need.
It's weird, the data usage seems to vary from person to person. I go through about 15-20MB per hour that I'm actively playing. Like I walked around with the kids and hit a lure for about 90 minutes yesterday and used 22MB. So it's not too much of a data hog for me. Are you closing all your other apps?
chilerellanos what moves does your Parasect know? All the gyms here are FULL of Vaporeans, so I'm going to try and make a Parasect into a Vaporean killer. Water is weak against grass, and Parasect being part bug helps with his stamina. Parasect's best moves are bug bite and solar beam. I hope when I EVENTUALLY evolve my 263 Paras I'll get those moves!
