Pokemon Go check-in

Terrible time at the playground this morning. Wasted four ultra balls and razzberries on that Charmander.

I did a spur of the moment run through what's supposed to be the best park to poke-hunt in town. I was really disappointed. Maybe it was the wrong time of the day? We did catch a low CO dratini and 2 magicarp, but nothing exciting other than that. Just the same old vermin I see everywhere. But there were a ton a Stops so I got some balls again. And it was hotter than balls outside. I need it to be fall ASAP.

On the minor good news front, I did finally catch enough to evolve a Machamp.

I only have one incubator.

It is a slow process. LOL.

Just hatched a mankey! It's been a long time since I got something new from an egg. Seems like it's the same stuff over and over.

Hmm. Maybe I should battle just to get points for incubators.

My goal is never to spend any actual money on this game (which I know is a luxury because I live where I live).

I use my coins exclusively to buy incubators. I am able to get a lot of coins from gyms, but I have spent a little money, too.

I'm hoping to get to 200 coins so I can get a bag upgrade to hold more items. So much effort to battle and defend gyms over something worth $2.

I wish you could get incubators at pokestops. I usually have a bunch of 2k eggs so that incubator only lasts a day or two. Or I wish instead of 3 times, it would be like a 30 kilometer incubator, so you could use it for longer.

I buy incubators. I'm always incubating 9 eggs. It's the best way to get stardust and candies. My eggs from this morning gave me enough candies for my new Nidoking and Exeggcutor. And my Porygon!

I use my infinite incubator exclusively for 2k eggs. I buy incubators for 5k and 10k eggs. So occasionally I have a 2k languishing without incubation b/c my infinite incubator hasn't hatched its egg yet. That bothers me!

Congrats! Level 24 took forEVRRRR. I know 25 will too. Good luck with your Arcanine! I use mine all the time. Fingers crossed he doesn't get bulldoze. Worst move EVER. A travesty that an awesome Pokemon like Arcanine can get such a god-awful move. Mine has it

I (temporarily) un-favorited my duplicate Mons (great CP but terrible movesets), so you guys could see my true battling lineup. Here's the 12 Mons I use the most. I've really been liking my Electabuzz against water types. I love my Vileplume, but razor leaf/solar beam are slow moves and her HP isn't great. Electabuzz gets it done faster. And Poliwrath is killing Lapras, I'm going to max him out when I have the candies and stardust.

I have this inclination too, but figured I would have paid a fair amount for a traditional game. The problem is that a traditional game kind of has a spending cap by it's nature, but it's hard to stop buying pokecoins! I'm $15 in and can easily see myself spending more.

What's the highest Paras I can expect to find? I hatched a 499 one today, and it's my best by 80CP. I have more than enough candy to evolve him, but when I plug it in the calculate it predicts only 950-1000 Parasect. I think I remember @supergreen saying that parasects are actually useful, so I don't want to waste the evolve. I don't see Paras too often (but not super rare either) so I don't know when I'll see more to get higher or get enough candies to evolve again.

At the time I evolved my stuff I was mid 21 and my best one was ~480. A good way to get a feel for whether the CP of a particular Mon is good is looking at the white arc. Those don't tell you IVs but do tell you the level of the Mon. Egg hatches usually have good IVs so that's a bonus.

ETA, and if you want to get really fancy, you can look up the IVs and then play with the Pokemon's level with the slider here: pokeassistant.com/main/ivcalculator

From what I can tell, the best level you can get is your trainer level + 1.5. You only catch Mons at round levels (so like you could catch a lvl 23 and power up to 23.5).

If you used the Google Play Store to download the game you can use the reward "$" from Google Opinion Rewards to pay for your in App purchases. I have a lot of built up "$" from answering simple surveys. I think I had "$24" of reward $ when I started playing Pokemon Go and now I have "$13". But I just earned a buck today for answering 1 question! Yay for "funny money"!!!

Paras doesn't have a very good evolution multiple, so you're never going to get a super strong Parasect. Best I've ever found was 580 CP, and that was at trainer level 24. It evolved to 1089 Parasect. So I think 950-1000 is prett good. Parasect is useful if it gets bug bite/solar beam. Bug bite charges solar beam really fast, which then takes out water Pokemon like Vaporeon. Parasect is especially handy for training friendly gyms. If you use a Parasect to take on a water Pokemon with double its CP, you get maximum prestige to level up the gym to put your own Pokemon in.

Very nice! He looks great! Yes, that's a good moveset. Both Exeggcutor's quick moves (zen Headbutt and confusion) are pretty similar (both psychic type with similar damage). Solar beam is what you want to take out water Pokemon like Vaporeon. What a crazy coincidence pugz that you, me, and Brie all evolved Exeggcutor's with the same moveset today!

pugz and Brie, be aware when battling with your new Exeggcutor's that it's DOUBLE weak to bug types. So don't take on a Scyther or Pinsir or anything like that.

Sorry I've made 6 so far, and never gotten bug bite/solar beam. Best I've got is fury cutter/solar beam, but he's only 849 CP. Dies too fast. It's a pretty niche trick really, I wouldn't worry too much about it. I just catch Paras fairly frequently, so I keep evolving them.

I spent some of my coins on poke balls, but now that I am in the land of tons of poke stops I regret that decision. But the goodness is I should be able to get a bag upgrade before we leave.

I forgot! I used my 1123 bug bite/solar beam Parasect to take down a much stronger (like 1700ish) Vaporeon today. It was close but I won and took over the whole gym from just the one battle.

So, basically, listen to @supergreen!
