I'm with you. Especially if she was being rude to posters like Brie.
I know this board is reluctant to call people out but it seems that if someone had said months ago, "hey Celiacmom, why were you rude to my friend" or whatever, maybe this all could have been sorted out a long time ago.
....OR if a mod did something when they were made aware of this a fucking YEAR ago!!
Putting this on small business owners isn't fair. They're trying to make money for their families and if they came here to complain about Celiac and the board didn't see their point and agree with them then they're out money of future business. Not a risk I would take.
The mod was told that she has a history of telling lies. What would you have a mod do with that? If you were the mod please enlighten me on the way to handle one random internet stranger telling you that another random internet stranger tells lies.
There were no examples or evidence. If there were this would have been handled long ago.
Here was my thought at the time. Her cookies took six weeks to arrive and didn't really work for me. As @littlemoxie noted them not working for me wasn't necessarily a product flaw. I thought calling her out over slow shipping seemed petty. I do wish I had mentioned her being rude in her Moo N Cookies Mom to Mom Support group and to customers on her page.
The thing is.. when you " call a bitch out" you need " THE RECEIPTS " Otherwise you run the risk of being labeled a " mean girl" and seeing this gif 10000 times
I mean I GET it. I do. No one wants to post in the wild west where folks just go OFF on each other over tiny little infractions. Knowing that celiacmom was a dick customer and a dick in her FB support group AND her products didn't work for everyone ( when lactation cookies don't work for everyone) really REALLY wouldn't have let us all know that she FAKED A CHILD AND THEN FAKED THAT CHILD'S DEATH FROM CANCER AND TROLLED CHILD LOSS GRIEF BOARDS. I mean how could we have ever EVER known that casual asshole was masking EXTREME SOCIOPATH. Ya know?
I think part of running any small business be it tittie cookies ( tm @kirkette) or Lularoe or whatever is dealing with DICK customers and con artists. It sucks, but so do some people. I have students who pursue entrepreneurship while in school. The amount of people looking to scam, take advantage of or con them is UNREAL. It's just part of the world. We can try to protect each other, but we also can't shield each other from every encounter.
I'm with you. Especially if she was being rude to posters like Brie.

I love how you all jump to conclusions. No one is talking about a public shaming. But seriously do you know how many gossipy PMs go on around here? No one thought to be like heads up, when I dealt with her she was awful. No one.
This is not victim blaming. This is saying if 100s of PMs can go around about the identity of an AE, why can't someone look out for a person who is supposed to be a friend. I personally would have called her out because she was a fucking stranger I don't care how well like she was (which I personally didn't see or feel). I would respect a small business owner more for calling her as out.
swizz too so it doesn't seem like I am a mean girl targeting one person.
Maybe, but this is starting to feel like an unfair attack on the people to whom she was shitty. Like, it's their fault so many people purchased from her and supported such an awful person.
Not everyone is interested in calling someone out publicly.
And I can't speak for Brie here, but as a business owner with the majority of my business coming from here, the idea of calling out a seemingly liked poster, over her being a rude customer (which presumably she'd deny), would NOT be worth it.
Yeah, I mean, she always paid for everything immediately, and bought a ton from me and referred people to me, so I'm not about to call her out over being picky and demanding. It never impacted me financially, she was just high maintenance and not particularly understanding. (She jumped all over me once for having low stock in her size of leggings, when it was a backorder issue from the warehouse that I legit had zero control over.) A few other GBCN consultants and I vented over her via PM and that was about it.
Save
I remember seeing that comment on your legging album and laughing. She has been crazy leggings poster in my head since then.
GET MORE LEGGINGS BRIE! MUST HAVE ALL THE LEGGINGS!
The Paypal button was what started setting off warning bells for Sulla originally. When more and more started coming out, another Nestie said that celiac had had an active fundraiser on CafeMom at one point for "Avi". I saw blog/paypal link with my own eyes, but I never saw the CafeMom fundraisers so I can't say if that was legit or not.
So, so gross.
The timeline is also ridiculous. So she had all those charges in 2006, one of which resulted in a 3 year probation, but then right in 2009 she pulled the disgusting dead child scam (or that's what I gather based on the posts)?
Wait what charges? I missed something & I swear I have read every page of this thread.
How does TMZ get police reports for all of the celeb stuff in CA?? I'm a pretty good internet detective, but it's all totally on lockdown. I need a TMZ investigator stat. lol
I would guess they go to the courthouse in person. There are typicially things that are public records that they don't take the time to put online.

I guess I'm just confused about who you wanted her called out by and to? Like, are you thinking that @notquiteblushing should have messaged Brie and let her know that celiacmom was a dick to her LLR consultant? Or Brie should have told pugz not to do Usborne with her because she was a PITA?
I'm not tagging people here as a call out and maybe it's just because I am not following exactly who had issues with her but it sounds like some people DID talk behind the scenes about how awful she was. I know @starry and I did but it was literally "yeah, shipping was bad and the bars didn't help". Should we have said that to everyone who mentioned buying from her?

I understood it as the mod was told she was teachkinder and her history. If the mod didn't understand the significance of that (I wouldn't have) then why didn't she ask the informer what that meant/why that's important? I would expect the mod to let MMM, the board she posted on often, know who she truly was. Sure would've saved people a lot of trouble over the past year.
In the end this is all on Celiacmom, but to know that some posters on GBCN, and more importantly moderators, knew this for 12 months and absolutely nothing was done is ridiculous to me.
Ya'll are making me crazy here. Just because cookies took a long time to ship doesn't mean someone is a child death faker! I just double checked my order details. I placed an order on 10/15/15 and it was shipped out on 10/27/15 and it arrived to me on 11/3/15. So I didn't think that took too long really, especially since back then she would post notifications on her FB what shipments were going out daily.
And my friend who sells LLR told me that she was sorry my friend's order got messed up and that she was upset but I didn't know the details until I asked for the screenshots last night.
There's only one person to blame here and she's gone.

Yes. Apparently on top of all the disgusting shit she did, she was also an asshole. It would not have shut down anyone's business to refuse to sell to her. Hell if someone had and it went public I might have even bought something I didn't even want. So look a new customer to replace her punk ass.
I am not trying to make anyone feel bad, but I personally would feel like shit for not saying something and then the same happening to someone else. And this is small potatoes stuff, but apparently there are tons of receipts. And this is coming from someone with a small business. Some clients just aren't worth it and I would have told her she needed to buy her shit elsewhere. I guess that is just me though. But she could have been run out of here long ago.

I'm finally catching up but after bombshell after bombshell, I am LOLing that she actually told pugz she has explanations. Like, what kind of legit explanations can one possibly have for alllllllllll this?
"My alter-ego did it!" "It's all Obama's fault! THANKS OBAMA!" "After my fake mom died, I just couldn't help myself." "MMM is all about spending money and/or big sales, so I just wanted to show everyone how to score free shit."

The only person I spoke with who talked to a mod said that she used to post on TK/TN and she lied. Thats it. No screen names...no details.
If you knew how many PMs or post reports we get over the dumbest things you would understand how this would have slipped through the cracks without links or SNs or something to go on.
Your mod didn't do anything wrong here. If you want a mod to take action on something, you need to send details. "Celiac has been known to tell lies in the past" is not details. We aren't banning someone preemptively based on that type of note, nor are we detectives with free time to get to the bottom of something like that. We also don't magically know the whole history of every poster, both here and on the nest, as some people seem to think we do. If someone had said "Celiac was a poster on the nest who lied about the death of her child - heres a link to her then and one now - see how the pictures are identical? This is the same person," (as the first page of the CEP thread basically did) we could have taken action then.
Now that said, your old mod has been offline for 3 months...which IS a reason to replace her. Not her lack of action on this.
I think it's super dumb that people are pointing fingers at the mods. They are not responsible for making sure people are legit. I also thinks it's super lame for sellers to be called out for not calling out bad customers on a public message board.
Lets blame it on the real faker here and stop all this nonsense.
mrssandro to me this is like people going to jail for racketeering. No it wasn't the worst thing they did it is just the easiest to prove. I am not blaming anyone for her actions. I am just saying that I would have tried to stop a friend who i have "known" for from dealing with the same bs from a newbie. To me this aspect is about being a friend. Again I don't mind being in the minority on that. I am known for seeing things very black and white.

Confession time! I have been known to tell lies in the past. I lied in K about stealing a Michael Jackson trading card from my next door neighbor Ronnie. I lied in 3rd grade about breaking my Mom's antique phone. I lied in HS about smoking and drinking and boys and weed. I lied in college A BUNCH OF TIMES.
I lie to my kid about Santa and The Easter Bunny ALL.THE.TIME.
BAN ME!!
Seriously. This isn't a reason to ban someone. It could have meant anything. The only person in the wrong here is Lindsey.

It sounds like @vtcupcake did lay it out like the CEP thread, and the mod didn't convey all the information to the global mods. Which is very much a judgement problem. Regardless, what's done is done and perhaps we can all learn a lesson with this.

Thank you for explaining this. I understood it differently, as in the mods and some CEP posters knew most of what MMM learned yesterday.

I don't find the humor in this. Lindsey didn't tell little lies. She lied about a child dying. She played on people's heart strings, worst of which were parents actually going through the nightmare of losing a child. I, and some other posters, understood it as such that some mods knew that. Sounds like they didn't so I understand why nothing was done.

She didn't lay it out. But I am not surprised you are showing up here wanting to point fingers at a fellow mod. It's what you do when drama happens.

Yeah, but sorry, not everyone on this board (I'm speaking generally) is my "friend." And I would have no idea who intended to buy cookies from her. So IF I had bought cookies from her AND had a shitty interaction I would probably PM my closest friends if I knew they were considering the same thing. But I wouldn't put someone on blast because of one interaction I had with her, because I really would have no idea if it was common. IRL I do the same thing. I have a shitty dining experience, I possibly leave a poor Yelp review, but I'm not the type to go on Facebook and blast out my poor experience. That's just not what I do.

Hey now. Let's calm down a bit. There's one villain here only.
It is really easy to point fingers at who should have done what now that there are many examples of her horrible actions. In isolation, and lacking the context of previous screen names, it isn't hard to imagine why it took this long to come to light.

You are right. What I am saying is that THE MODS didn't know that. All they got ( from my understanding ) was a message that said Celiacmom has been known to tell lies in the past. I mean that COULD mean anything. How could they act on that?? Believe me I am outraged at her actions, I just don't think that a mod can be blamed for not acting on something so non-specific.

I don't either, but the friend/family thing was mentioned numerous times in the beginning. I don't want friends/family like that. And I would have warned the few friends I do have here if I knew anything. Now what they decide to do with that info is on them, but I wouldn't have any guilt.
To be fair, I can't see PMs, so I don't have any way to know what WPF was sent. But her summary to the global mods was inactionably vague. And it doesn't seem logical that she received a bunch of detail but then didn't just copy and paste it, choosing instead to write her own vague summary.
At any rate, it doesn't really matter. She's no longer your mod. The bad guy here is clear and it's not her.
