Ha! I skipped the first couple of series and jumped into series 3 or even 4 and got cliff notes from DH when we watched it!! Dd2 was a newborn and I didn't have the attention span to keep up!

V and Lucy have been back. In fact I believe lhc never really left. She just went to using an AE. And then was nasty to a poster on ML who has had a rough year.

Right, LHC has been back under her old ae that she used when she was supposed to be "taking a break" after revealing something about another poster that was deeply personal and sensitive. I would not doubt that she tries to come back again.

The problem is, and I'm just speaking for myself and not the other mods, every time someone is banned there's a big stink about "whyyyy were they banned!" I mean, I get why cj jumped on me in this thread for me being critical of the mods. It's a hard job. Everything you do in your capacity is judged. This community, as a whole, has decided that it wants to be the wild west, with hands off moderating. Unless the community as a whole decides they want to be tighter with the restrictions, there's not much we can do. It took me forever and a day to get lys banned from posting on CEP, but she can post anywhere else on GBCN that she wants. She was actively trolling and racist on CEP.

There's a general proboards code of conduct of sorts. Other than that, it's whatever the community chooses to enforce within each board.

When my organization has its annual audit, the auditors have to ask me and other staff questions that help them determine if there's any funny business* going on. I think they leave pretty confident that nothing's going on because I have a derpy look on my face and have to ask what everything means. Hey, I didn't go into my career in libraries because I wanted to deal with money shit.

*See, I don't even know the actual terms. And I'm embarrassed to admit that I never thought about the "launder" in "money launder" as "cleaning" the money up. And I have a degree in linguistics and love the shit out of word origins and semantics!

Ha! Just seeing this now. I wasn't really around nest too much during the kinder teacher time so I had no clue about that. However, I thought she was completely and utterly full of shit & a liar...pretty much from the get go of her first posting. Sorry to pull this back up a week later, but I've been working my way through this thread since Thursday and have just now caught up (on this one only) Since a few people asked about TTH I wanted to respond.



Lindsay did make the donations to TTH that she said she did, including the MNC fundraiser last year. Nothing about her ever set off any red flags for me in that regard. I admit that I was surprised when she started making a few generous donations, not because I thought she was a fraud, but because her and I had no history. I obviously knew her from the board but never talked to her one on one or really interacted with her much in threads so it just seemed to come out of left field. But I figured she was just a generous person who believed in the work we were doing. I had no idea she was simply trying to atone for her heinous past. It makes me sad to know that is the true reason behind her actions, especially when so many others in this community have legitimately been incredibly supportive of TTH. At the end of the day, nothing she did hurt TTH in any way, thankfully, but the whole thing makes me sad and sick to my stomach.
