The militarization of the police force is disgusting.
The police show up in riot gear to peaceful marches-- because black = rioters to them.
In Ferguson, they stood across the street from us, appearing en masse from behind buildings,in full riot gear. Staring.
And when the staring wasn't enough, they engaged and pushed and shoved and made up rules so they could arrest whoever they wanted & whenever they wanted.
My local news: BREAKING NEWS - UPDATE One person has been confirmed dead following a shooting at the protest of the death of Keith Lamont Scott in Charlotte >>>>

I'm here. White America lost their shit when black people protested violently. Then we lost our shit again when people protested peacefully. We need a close look at the militarization and procedures of the police response like, yesterday.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

It is so terrifying. I read a good article about the militarization of police forces and how it has come to be. It wasn't related to the racial issues directly however it provided a great understanding of how we have gotten to the place we are today.
Giving law enforcement military weapons, little training, etc. doesn't make any of us safer and in fact it makes POC even more unsafe than they were. It is so enraging.

I was there for the vonderrit myers protests and watched most of everything else live streaming. I will never forget the sound of the police smacking their batons and walking in a line forcing their way through protestors, never mind the tear gas and the screaming. It's fucking terrifying.

Particularly when the police force looks very little like the community they've sworn to protect.

I've been watching for about an hour now. I am really bothered by the way the news is practically salivating over violence starting. Just a second ago there was a little bit of a uproar and the news reporter gleefully exclaims, "Here we go!"

Yeah, they keep interrupting the people speaking to be like "everyone look at that garbage can on fire!"
And I'm getting pissed at the way they keep going on about how this was a peaceful protest- people praying, singing, starting a dialogue- then it turned violent, so it's losing its meaning. I mean, I'm not excited by the violence, but don't act like shit's going to change if we just sang a little more kumbaya.

Apparently the victim is on life support and some ministers who were right next to him are challenging the narrative that he was shot by a fellow protestor.

I don't believe for one second that they know for sure it was another civilian. Because if they did there would be a whole lot more out there about the alleged perpetrator. That info came out way too quickly.

Because POC cannot be angry! EVER. They must rise above any emotion. /sarcasm.
