Can the CIA charge someone with treason or does that have to come from the FBI?
The prosecutor - an AUSA or a lawyer at the Justice Department, or sometimes they work together -makes the charging decision, not an investigatory agency. The FBI does have a national security portfolio.
I keep coming in here to try to say something and looking at Facebook trying to form coherent responses to this shit show, but really, what is there to say?

I've been reading comments on this from Trump supporters. The majority of the comments were that all Russia did was expose how crooked Hillary was. Russia did us a favor.

It's terrifying.
This is the power of propaganda. It is so destructive.

There are so many ways to all approach a response to this.
Today I'm going to go with: oh, so you have proof they didn't do anything else, such as rig voting machines?
Eichenwald is on a Twitter rant (which I've been expecting all day, LOL). This is an interesting point; he says allies in Europe are focused on Trump intel because Putin is trying to damage NATO and they want to know Trump's ties. Makes sense, just hadn't occurred to me.

The conservatives on my fb do not care about this because "this is what we've done all over the world, now we care?!" And numerous #hypocrites with the nytimes ararticle.

I'm convinced that Trump is the new Jim Jones with a twist*. He's become a cult leader. He has people now betraying their own allegiance to this country, by accepting and agreeing that Russia tampering with our electoral system was NBD and actually GOOD for us.
But this time there's also oil in the "Kool Aid".
*For those who may not know, Jim Jones lured people into his cult by offering a "sanctuary" of racial equality. Though he did use "use versus them" techniques and he used political rhetoric to further divide his cult members. So he's got 2 out of 3. lol

I have been in and out of this thread all day. I still don't have a coherent response. This is absolutely horrifying, and the fact that so many Trump voters think this is NBD...I just wish they'd take a moment to think about how they'd feel if Clinton had won and Russia had helped make that happen. Explain to me, Trump voters, why I should not be protesting in the streets again?

It does feel cult-like to me.
Me too. It's creepy.
* Trump's followers have been alienating/turning away from their families. Choosing instead to "Make America Great Again". Becoming mistrustful of anyone they suspect might be a "liberal" or under the influence of HRC.
*Trump's followers have been cautioned against believing news/media sources. They are being told that any negative information about Trump is a lie and is sabotage by the "Left" and/or by "HRC".
*Trump's followers have been told that they are the special ones. They are the true Americans, they are the most deserving, they are the victims, they are the hardest working, and in the end, they will be the victors.
*Trump's followers are being promised a future paradise, where all of their dreams and wishes will come true. As long as they elect him to be their leader and they do what he tells them to do, right now.
*Trump's followers have been willfully overlooking all evidence of Trump's deceptions/hypocrisy/bullshit because they want that paradise they were promised.
*Trump's followers have been told that it's either "us or them" and no in between. That the "others" want to take from them what they have and they need to fight to protect it. That the "others" have already stolen from them what was rightfully theirs in the first place, and they need to fight to get it back.
*Trump's followers have acted out in anger, violence, and even worse imo, in pride, in order to "claim what's theirs", with Trump's blessing.
*Trump's followers are now betraying their own self-proclaimed morals/patriotism/nationalism by willfully overlooking the fact that an enemy country has pretty much invaded our government via Trump.

Man. I mean, just thinking about HRC's campaign and really, the whole DNC, how do you essentially fight a foreign power who wants to see your opponent in power and is willing to turn its formidable intelligence resources to doing that? What can the strategy possibly be for dealing with that, with fake news and propaganda that originates outside the country and not even with your opponent and his party, plus the hacks? Because if Russia has done it once and seen it go their way, they're not going to stop.
It would be easier if they were actually hacking voting machines. But I don't even think they needed to.

I think the DNC/HRC's biggest strategic error was underestimating the collective, willful stupidity of the country.
