Because it was sold fully furnished and the inventory scope was super broad. I have no clue why they left what they did.
Would you all drink the sealed 6 pack of IPA in the fridge? Because I had one move in night. And I didn't die.
Oh I'd totally drink that as long as it didn't smell skunked. No question.
My parents bought a cabin where the guy left EVERYTHING. It was actually super convenient, although they didn't need every single random thing he ever bought. It included a lot of tools in the garage and stuff. He tried to come back and buy it from them again a few years later. Sorry, dude. My camp now.

I'd toss spices unless sealed and within expiration.
Now the rack of lamb ohhhhhhhhhhhh man I'd have the hardest time with this. I seriously wouldn't be able to enjoy it while eating it but I'd have such a hard time letting it go. It might be because rack of lamb is my favorite......
I would absolutely have the beer and any other sealed booze left behind but hell no on the meat: you have no clue if they froze it on time/didn't defrost and refreeze, anything could have happened!
Am I the only kind of amused that these people just up and sold their house and literally cleared nothing out of it? Like, "hey, you want our place? Inclusions are spices, liquor, snow shoes, and a rack of lamb from CostCo!"

We are stocked with Topo Chico for months...the supply is unreal.
I wasn't expecting any food at all, but we knew they were leaving everything but any animal heads (that was my only request to be removed)

You are thinking like a normal person. This is a $$$$$$$ cabin with wall-to-wall mountain views. They just wanted to sell the place and not pack/move.

If it was a vacation/2nd home, it makes sense to me. Most everything would be a duplicate and likely not your favorite furnishings, etc.

It was a third home for the sellers.
The dressers were full of their grandkids base layers, all in perfect condition and Patagonia. My BFF took it all for her son. She is set for years (there was a huge range of sizes.)

Third home makes even more sense then, who wants to bother with that stuff, lol. And score on the kids gear!

This is pretty common for cottages and cabins in our area. When my Mom bought hers the place was packed with stuff but no one had been in there for two years other than mice, bats and birds (poorly sealed chimney) so everything was chucked. It was a huge project to clean it out.
Often the cottages are being sold by older residents that can't stay on due to health reasons, downsizing etc and don't have anywhere to bring the stuff. It's sad.
When we moved into our 2nd house in the student housing area during university the previous tenants left everything behind. There were over 7 futons in the house, a full chest freezer, etc. We pulled out 50 bags of garbage. Unfortunately there was no beer.
Oh I also probably would have tossed the spices. They might be a million years old. They might not wash their hands when they used them. The liquor is a little more reasonable to me. I just assume that all people are gross.
? confused? Do you just stick your fingers into a jar? Do you pour out spices in your hand and put them back in the jar? I either sprinkle directly from the jar into the pot, use a measuring spoon in the jar, or pour into my hand and toss the rest. How would not hand washing contaminate a jar of spices?
I would be more concerned that they were ancient and not as potent. Save
People are fucking disgusting and weird. They could've taken a shit and then not washed their hands and then sprinkled garlic powder with their bare hands on their lamb that has been sitting out for 4 days. Working with the general public makes one understand how many people are gross and lack common sense in the world.
Obviously I don't think Pagas is going to die from using these spices but she might get a little extra flavoring from bodily excrement!

OP, I'd eat/drink anything non-perishable that was sealed and within date. Everything else would go. I'm pretty paranoid about food and temps, and hand-washing, etc., though.
