Out of curiosity for everyone who would never use the spices, do you not use that stuff if you stay in an Air BnB or vacation rental? I always am so happy when the place stocks basic spices, salt and pepper, olive oil, tea and that kind of stuff. Maybe I am crazy, though.
We bought our cabin fully furnished but no perishable goods were left. It was a rental though. The only random thing I've found is that the table in the bedroom the top lifts up and there's storage inside. It was empty though. That was about 4 years after we bought the place.

I feel like I have to answer because I'm one of the ones who said I'd probably toss it, but I'm having a hard time coming up with an answer because we're normally hotel people. And I know it doesn't make sense, but using a spice in the cupboard once while on vacation doesn't gross me out as much as using the rest of a half-full jar of spices on a bazillion occasions.

But it's a vacation house, so it will only be used on vacation. #EndsMeat
These threads always confuse me. Does anyone ever eat at a restaurant? At anyone else's home? Use a salt shaker you haven't known its whereabouts for its entire existence? Stayed in a rental and used a cup? Go through life without gloves on?
Poop poop poop everywhere!!!!
Every day is a new and exciting opportunity to build my immune system.

And there it is. Strong work getting around full circle friends!
I say no way, but I'm super weird about meat, and I would probably never eat rack of lamb.
My husband said he would probably not care and would eat it, but then started bringing up "can they guarantee there hasn't been a power outage?"
And there has been a few times where I will either buy or defrost meat and then don't get a chance to cook it, but trash day just passed so I will stick it in the freezer until I can dispose of it.
The seller called me tonight and it took all my will power to not ask him about the lamb.
I did ask him about the vacuum and he had no answer for me, which was a bummer.
LOL, I'm imagining this conversation in my head as "soooooooooo, that rack of lamb - did you do anything weird with it like wipe your poop hands on it or anything?" Of course you are more likely to have asked in a more adult/civilized way...
