We don't have one. We are, however, going to either get one or get an old cell to keep plugged in so that 911 can be called. It wouldn't have active service. I will say though, this has only come up recently because we now have kids. Neither of us ever considered it before.

Yes. It's bundled in with cable and internet, so it's around $7 a month.
When I leave my son with a babysitter, I want to have a way to call my home at all times that is not dependent on a teenager's phone. And then in the future, my son will always have a way to use the phone if needed.
We do. I'm very old fashioned in that I like the security of a landline. We also still have an ancient corded phone that we can plug in during a power outage.
We do not...but that might be a discussion once we have children.
My parents do, but now it's largely used for emergencies (because my mom does not always take her cellphone upstairs at night...don't ask me why) and when my grandparents, aunts, or uncles call. (No, I also do not know why my aunts and uncles insist on using the landline, as they have my parents' cell numbers.)
Technically, we have a landline because it was bundled with our cable. I have never plugged in a phone to it. It's sort of weird when I'm watching cable and it shows in the corner that I have a call.

Yes. I want my 4 and 5 year olds to have it when I leave them home alone.
I will always keep it just for peace of mind. My home security system is also tied into it. I still use it exclusively to make outgoing calls. I really hate talking on my cell.
We have one, since it is bundled with our internet and cable. We don't have a working phone right now though. I need to get one to have for emergencies and for DS to use once he's old enough to be left alone.

No, I've never had one since moving out on my own. We looked into adding it to our cable/internet package but for it to be a cheap add on we would need a much higher cable package, and it adds a lot to the monthly cost, so we decided against it.
No. In fact I'm not even sure there is a phone jack anywhere in our house. We told them not to wire for any. There might be one in the main power box with all of the ethernet cords.
By the time E is old enough to stay home alone she'll probably have her own cell phone. That's just reality these days.
Yes. But only because it made our cable and Internet cheaper. We do have a phone plugged in (we had to buy one for our front door buzzer so we bought a two-pack), but we turned the ringer off since only telemarketers call it. I have no idea what the phone number is.
We do, it's bundled with our internet and tv. We'd keep it anyway as H's brother and mother are abroad and it's much cheaper to phone landline to landline. Also we need it for our alarm system.
The only ones that use it are our mothers and BIL, we haven't given anyone else the number.
1. Bundled so it costs practically nothing (and DH works for our cable provider so he already gets a discount) 2. We need it for our security system 3. One of our phones is an old corded phone we use when the power is out 4. DH has had our # for more than 20 years and I rarely use my (non smart)phone for calls 5. I'm hard of hearing, and it's usually very difficult to hear properly on a cell phone. I don't have that problem on a landline phone.

We do for a few reasons, but primarily work. Even in this day and age, you can often still tell when someone is on a cell phone so I prefer a landline for work calls.
Other (less important) reasons: my cell phone number is from like four states ago, and I'm not changing it. But I like having a number with a local area code. Finally, I can closely guard my cell phone number and give out my landline to anyone else.
I want one, but I want a real phone line that doesn't rely on power and no one here offers that at a reasonable price. In TX I was able to get a line for $12/month that had free incoming calls and 10 outbound calls a month. Perfect for my needs.
We do and I want to throw it out a window. It's so fucking loud and the only calls we get are from telemarketers and, inexplicably, my in-laws. CALL THE FUCKING CELL PHONE. We need to either unplug it or get a new one with more volume control when the baby comes.
But despite all of this bitching, we'll be keeping it.
We do - we have to for our alarm system. The ringers turned off though so we only realize anyone's calling if it pops up on our TV.
Same. Except we don't get the pop ups. The only calls we get are robo calls for charities or scam calls. IRS called and left 4 messages yesterday that they're filing a lawsuit against us.
After 12 years without one, we had a landline installed when we moved into our new house last year. DS is at an age where we can leave him home alone for short periods of time and he doesn't have a cell phone. We wanted him to have a way to reach us or call 911 in an emergency.
We have it bundled in with our cable. We do keep a phone plugged in to it but the ringer is not turned on. Pretty much, only solicitors call that number. We keep it because we have kids and not all of our younger babysitters have a cell phone. They need a way to reach us, as will our kids when they are old enough to stay alone.
Unless I'm going to Target. If I'm going there, I'm unplugging the phone and taking it with me so the kids can't interrupt my Target time.
