Can somebody tell me the approximate full cost of one of these Disney trips? Including flights and food etc. Basically including every cost. we probably won't go for a few years though but I am curious about what say a five day trip would cost us in total.
I know it probably varies a ton .. but like the median cost I suppose!

Tons of fucking money. I'm going for a long trip (8 nights) and using DVC points at a deluxe hotel which is costing $3500. The same room without renting DVC is around $6000. Then tickets, dining plan, flights, everything else...we are def looking at $8000 probably.
There are way cheaper ways to do it but Disney is basically a huge money suck and I cannot believe what they charge for these hotels.

It really does vary a lot, I'll assume a 6 night trip with 5 days at the parks. A 5 day pass, non park hopper, for 4 is $1440. Flights, we usually pay $300 a person, so $1200. Hotel $200 a night? (that's high for a value but low for a moderate) so $1200. Food is so variable. You can do character sit down meals daily for $150 a pop or so, or you can bring in your own sandwiches. I budget $120 a day and don't do very many character meals, and eat breakfast in the room. So $720. Total $4560
We make it cheaper by buying discount tickets (you usually can find some discount), and use a southwest credit card for points that usually covers 2-3 of our flights. We also didn't buy very many souvenirs at the parks.
Wow that is expensive. Damn you Disney! Maybe in a few years we will do a road trip and drive there/stay at a campsite. I just went to the site and a four day ticket plus campsite is only $1800 for 2+2 so that doesn't seem terrible really

I'll add that Disney is very important to me and was basically the only vacations I ever went on as a kid so I feel very nostalgic. I wouldn't be willing to pay these prices if it wasn't a big deal to me.

So I've been pricing out a ton of vacations for next year. I just did one for a non-Disney trip and it only saved $500 to go to Oregon for a week instead. So trips that require airfare, and 2 kids that aren't free anymore, are just super expensive if you don't camp( which I won't for a vacation lol).
laurack our base price for a week is $7100, this doesn't include the $340 perfectly princess tea. We are doing the medium dining plan, charter flights, deluxe resort. We could certainly do it cheaper but to be able to fly out of the local airports direct flights is amazing. It also includes parking at the airport and no bag restrictions nor do they cost anything extra. It is assigned seating as well (charter is through Southwest which doesn't fly out of the closest international airport). Last time we flew to Florida, it was a layover, and cost us $1250 each. We are paying for the convenience since I have no clue how two ASD kids are going to handle flying.

hmm this is true.
All my vacations basically are to Ireland and it's just the cost of flights for the most part as we really just live normally while there. Our upcoming trip I spent $680 on flights and don't expect to spend more there than I would here during that time.
some day I would like to take vacations not to Ireland though ... so I need to get ready for the sticker shock
The couple of times we've gone skiing with the kids though I think it was a grand spent for a weekend and there are not flights involved so I can see where it would quickly creep up quite a lot!

We are taking 2 kids and staying in a moderate resort with dining plan for 4 nights and 4 day park hoppers for $3100. We are 7 hrs, so we are driving. We are going during free dining. We just spent $1500 at the beach for 5 days for comparison.
We're going the value route. And driving. And it still will cost about $5k when all is said and done. So much ouch. That's 7 nights and 6 days in the park weird room schedule since we will drive
