So glad it's Monday because the weekend was full of family drama and messed up schedules/little sleep. The monotony of laundry, cooking, and my regular life activities feels like a vacation in comparison.
On the up side, our swingset got built and our backyard is awesome now
Is anyone else watching the new Twin Peaks? Such a weird show. I can't help but get into it, even though it's unlikely to resolve anything and leaving me feeling like I wasted 18 hours. Lol.
I'm ready for it to be the weekend. H and I are going to the coast for our anniversary, and I'm really excited to get a few days of relaxation. I'm going to try to convince H to turn off our cell phones for the majority of the time we're there so we can take a break from the world for a while.
We have new hires starting today....because they're trying to hire every single position before I go on maternity leave. These people legit could have waited until the actual orientation to start. Off-cycle hires that are hired outside of orientation throw EVERYONE for a loop....so the energy is weird and stressful today. Don't mind me over here while I just try to get some work done while everyone else is falling apart. I didn't make the call on this..I was just told to get their paperwork started on this date.
Good luck ewall!! Hope you are pregnant soon!! Lots of new WC babies in the works! Exciting!
katespade- hope you have a lovely vacation! Sounds amazing!! Happy anniversary too!
Weekend was busy but good! L is a teething mess though so sleep is horrible right now🙁 Not a good combination with a demanding, whining, energetic 2.5 yo who needs me to be patient.
I am stranded at home today since my brother has DHs car (his broke down on the way home from camping yesterday and he couldn't get a rental to get to work today). Window measurement appointment is this morning (3 hr). Went to bagels and groceries before DH went to work! Making food for L and cooking dinner, hoping to go to the park later.
Tomorrow is Disneyland one last time before we are blocked out! Might do CA Adventure since it's likely to be super crowded.
I have a physical therapy consult Thursday morning to hopefully start rehab on what is likely pinched nerve(s) causing me to wake in pain nightly and lots of numbness...for the last 2 years- finally taking care of me!
Need to call and schedule a baseline mammogram and women's health exam with new gynecologist.
Anniversary is Sat and we have a date night planned for Friday (parents will come after the boys are in bed)!! Likely doing an at home date on Sat...dinner, movie, wine, dessert after bedtime!
Also want to try to at least match last week's running...ran 13 miles total (maybe more but can't recall if I ran to the park a couple times without my GPS on) which is sadly a PR since being pregnant with L!
I'm trying to refocus and get back to my routines. I always feel better and get much more done when I have a routine to follow.
DH has been working on building us a fence. I'm so excited to have a safe space for the girls. We live in a neighborhood with 1 acre plots. There are several people here who let their dogs run loose all over the neighborhood. I'm talking at least 5 dogs regularly that come into our yards or right up to us. The dogs have been friendly so far but I'm so glad we will have an area that I can take the girls to play and not have to worry about the neighbors damn dogs. I feel like we just stay inside all the time when I'm alone with them.
amaranth Do you have a pic of the whole swingset? I would love to see what it looks like in your yard. I have been reseraching swingsets to get an idea on how much we need to save and what features we want.
We all survived the marathon wedding weekend and I'm pleased to say it went better than I expected. B threw an epic tantrum and flat out refused to participate in the bridal party pics, so I had to take her (and a screaming DS) and leave the park in a haste. I drove them around in a circle for an hour so they both napped until the reception and then they were perfect angels during the actual wedding. DD actually walked down the aisle, sweetly smiling and throwing her flowers. I was a sobbing, hormonal mess, lol.
Anyway, this week is just about survival again. We are still trying to find our groove, but I have a better handle on it 3 weeks in, I think. The weather is going to be crappy though, so that's disappointing because walks are a big part of our routine.
I'm waiting right now to get an u/s. Doctor couldn't find the heartbeat. I know it's early and she thinks I have an anterior placenta again so I'm trying not to panic yet. I just want to get in there and see everything is ok.
Good luck, estrellita! That happened to me last time, and all was perfectly fine. I am praying the same is true for you.
@ I posted on GotP, but my beta numbers more than quadrupled! We needed 70+ for everything to be on track, and it was 115. Yay! Next draw is on Wednesday, and then I think I get an ultrasound Monday.
Power went out at work at 2 pm, so I got to go home early! Yay!
After amaranth's thread about bras & DH asking if I own a bra to match my shirt's neckline, I measured myself this morning. I am a little further down the alphabet than I thought. 😕 On a positive note, I found a Canadian shop that ships to me & has some bras in my size.

estrellita: Hope the u/s shows a nice, strong heartbeat! Those early Doppler checks are frustrating and terrifying. Edit: Glad everything looks good!
Yay!! Great news estrellita and krystee!!! Prayers for both your little babies!
suzv- teething is literally killing me here. He has his bottom two now and I can see two more breaking through and another two not far behind. He's usually a pretty happy, chill little guy that sleeps ok (but could definitely sleep better)...now he's super clingy and not sleeping well at night at all. I am exhausted. He won't co sleep and I am trying not to set up bad habits like nursing all night LOL. He keeps waking earlier and earlier and it's getting ridiculous. He is also trying to crawl so I blame it 50/50 on teeth/crawling. Wouldn't be nearly so bad but C is 2.5 and he is definitely a challenge these days (this age is near the top of my least favorite so far). Anyways, I hope J starts sleeping better for you soon!! ((Hugs))
Blue Moon Glad everything went well minus the pictures! We barely have any pictures of our ring bearer at our wedding because he fell asleep while we were taking pics, haha. Oh well!
I am sick as stink today. Got an antibiotic so hoping I feel better soon but just laying on the couch right now. I had a dance class I was supposed to go to tonight because we perform this weekend but I contacted my teacher and she says I can still perform even if I miss tonight. I am glad I can rest for the remainder of the evening. Being a superstar mom letting DS watch tv so I can rest. Gotaa do whatcha gotta do.
melsamoony Thanks for asking! Things are good for the most part. He's now on something for both the smoking and depression/anxiety. He's bummed a few cigarettes here and there but hasn't bought any. I'm still not sure how we can get back to normal though. I've still been a little short tempered with him and not being physical at all, though he's tried to hug me a couple times (like today I was showing E the u/s pic and he put his hand on my back). I definitely have a wall up. Hopefully we'll figure something out. It's mostly on him but a little on me too.
bk1 Sorry, ended up being a crazy day. Here is our daycare, I mean, backyard. lol. It isn't huge but it still feels useful for yard games and mingling in spite of the swingset. Eta: The reason I picked this one is because it was more playhouse than swingset. I figured that would last them longer in ages wtih imagination play than just slides or a swing.
wanderingenough We got it at costco. It's $900 in stores or $1200 to order online and have it delivered. It's cedar wood which isn't the heaviest duty or most durable, but this one looked fun and the high quality ones were 3k-5k so I figured this would work just fine

amaranth - good to know! we have been talking about doing one for R's second bday. we have a neighborhood park in our immediate neighborhood and it oddly has no swings? our larger neighborhood (village? i dunno) has swings but that one has to be driven to and is always more crowded.
I bought some chai latte mix on the weekend because of all you ladies. I've bought it in the past but I don't usually buy it in the summer because us too hot. But I had a cup last night. Yum!!
wanderingenough how odd to have no swings. Swings are the best part for babies!
grover We didn't initially plan to buy a playset because we live 1 block from an amazing park including a splash pad, volleyball, tennis, tons of brand new play equipment, etc. It's really awesome to have that so close. However with M's sensory needs we found ourselves often not able to go because he can't always wear clothes without pain, and crowds make him melt down. Soo, we opted to have this as a safer option for many days. If your daughter has no issues with a park, then you probably won't need one. It's pretty relaxing to walk there.
awick14 Have you tried it iced? I love iced chai for summer
