WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT -- Lawmakers will say if the president believes Comey lied, Trump himself should come to Capitol Hill and testify under oath about his recollection of events. This is why keeping quiet is oftentimes the best idea. TRUMP has now created a whole new storyline that is certain to distract Washington for the days and weeks to come.
NOTE that most Republicans yesterday didn't accuse James Comey of lying -- in fact, many of them called him honest and honorable. They just took issue with whether Trump directly asked Comey to drop the Russia investigation.

also, can we take a side detour for a moment & look at hte bigger picture???
do we have any ideas what we actually think Flynn was up to?? negotiating with Russia/Turkey? setting up some shady business deals? just the lobbying?? Why did Trump hire him & continue to defend him for so long? If Trump had not hired & then had to fire Comey, would Trump still be caught up in this much drama/scandal?
So the really big issues we are ignoring at the moment to focus on a new scandal (Obstruction of justice??) 1- Russian interference in our democracy (attacking our country?) 2- Trump's questionable financial dealings (the whole family, past, on-going conflicts of interest) 3- Investigations into Flynn himself & maybe also AG Sessions for lying about contacts with Russia?

I was wondering about the Flynn too thing yesterday. For 45 who gives no fucks about anyone, he is vested in Flynn but everyone else is chump change/"satellites". Carter Page must feel hurt. Anyway, I wonder if Flynn had the main ear of the Russians for election helping. I remember hearing that Flynn and Kushner were close so perhaps Flynn was getting Russian help in turn helping Kushner with his election data.
He said there are tapes on twitter. I don't know the legal system works, but can someone subpoena for the alleged tapes?
somebody was asking about this yesterday & nobody had an answers.
I haven't heard anybody from teh WH leak any additional confirmation about the existence of tapes. BUT Trump apparently does have an extensive history of taping others & his employees and phone lines.
I would imagine that legally (lol that Trump or his people care about legality) they are part of official WH records & should be retained in the official capacity following formal document retention guidelines. It seems like you would need to get Trump himself ot answer the question YES or NO if there are tapes. The fact that KAC & others refuse to say NO seems to imply the answer is YES. You can't indite a president, but you can impeach him. SO I would assume that's the only way you could compel him to produce evidence.

I think another big thing from yesterday is that AG sessions may be in more trouble or there is some other dirty laundry...I'd love to see him gone!
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS -- "Comey told senators Sessions may have met Russia's ambassador a third time," by CNN's Manu Raju, Evan Perez and Jim Sciutto: "Former FBI Director James Comey told senators in a closed hearing this afternoon that Attorney General Jeff Sessions may have had a third interaction with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., according to people familiar with the briefing. The information is based in part on Russian-to-Russian intercepts where the meeting was discussed ... But the sources said it is possible the ambassador, Sergey Kislyak, was exaggerating the extent of the encounter." cnn.it/2sarx8r

"'I Was Right': As Trump Watches Comey on TV, Anxiety Yields to Relief": "In all, Mr. Trump watched only about 45 minutes of Mr. Comey's testimony, the people close to the president said. Much of that time was spent under the eye of his take-charge personal lawyer, Marc E. Kasowitz, and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, one of the cabinet members he trusts most. This was by design, with the president's tacit consent. His aides packed the day with meetings and speechwriting sessions, including a 90-minute sit-down focusing on North Korea, Qatar and the terrorist attacks in Iran with the national security adviser, H. R. McMaster; Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson; and Mr. Mattis. ... There was pleasure among White House aides with how Republican senators - who largely avoided taking on the president - performed in the hearing." nyti.ms/2slnxSm
============ Doesnt' our SecDef have better things to do than babysit?? I wonder how long of hte 90 minute Dumpster paid attention to writing a speech on NK???

The Watergate Tapes case established that such tapes could be subpoenaed as part of an investigation provided and there is cause to believe they are relevant which given what they would be of it would be.
I believe that their existence would have to be confirmed first but am not sure. I think that is why Trump's team has been careful to not confirm or deny their existence walking the line to avoid giving lawyers enough to bite on here.
