I'd be more worried about someone minimally competent manufacturing fake tapes than I am about #45 and his staff doing so. I'd bet a lot of money that he doesn't have a staff member both crooked enough to do it and talented enough to make it undetectable.

nor loyal (or honestly loyal) enough to not leak or lie or disclose it
I don't think he has tapes. I think he tried to bluff and manipulate ("Comey better hope there are no tapes..."), and now he won't answer one way or the other. He wants people to think that they might be recorded in his office because it makes him feel powerful. But he's too stupid to realize that he put the idea of recordings out there (which is the dumbest. Hello, Watergate tapes??) and now those imaginary tapes can be subpoenaed, and he now knows he's going to look foolish for making an empty threat. He's hoping this will just just be forgotten about before the "future" comes.
I WANT there to be tapes but I don't believe they do exist.
Like he's ever heard of Watergate. Politics was boring until he wanted to be more powerful and be out of NYC since his gig was up there and saw the presidency as his only chance. We know he doesn't bother learning about or paying attention to boring things. Nixon probably didn't say his name a single time in the entire resignation speech.

Wait a minute wait a minute. Are we seriously entertaining the possibility that Cheeto or someone looking to vindicate him would manufacture tapes of a conversation with the HEAD OF THE FBI?? I think your tin foil hats are too tight or you've been reading too many comics or something.

These fuckers can't even find a lawyer that can spell.
But please do Trump manufacture some tapes - I am sure that will end up well for him.

TBF, this is a man who regularly called the press and pretended to be someone else so he could talk about how great he was.
(I don't think he's actually going to manufacture tapes though.)

Maddow said Sessions is supposed to appear before the House and Senate on Tues. This was previously scheduled and for other things. She mentioned he has a history of backing out at the last minute so it will be interesting to see if he actually appears after Comey's testimony.

I wouldn't be surprised if it crossed his mind. I think he's pretty dumb.
Ok. There's not another place for me to post, but uh: H just asked, "Do you think DJTrump wears a hairnet at night? Like WTF does that coif look like in the am?!" He took my thoughtful silence as a go-ahead to turn it back to basketball 😐 But seriously. Just think about what his hair looks like for that 6am tweet to comfort yourself a tiny, maybe..? #notsober

I feel for those non-political, career (or whatever you call them) white house staff members that are subjecting to this image every day.

Lol exactly. I know we're all picturing this Comey memo as a one or two page thing with the highlights. NO. I'll bet it's ten pages at least with tons of quotes and details. There's just no way to duplicate an entire dinner conversation! Plus you know Comey already had his voiced printed or whatever techy security shit they can do.
Well I have a lot of thoughts on this! DH is heavily involved with the environmental reviews at issue here (under NEPA). He's in a different agency, but NEPA is the same. I think it goes without saying that 45 fundamentally misunderstands what he's talking about, but there's a line from a Phish song that applies perfectly here: "misinformed, but not mistaken". From the article - "Trump was announcing the creation of a new office in the Council of Environmental Quality dedicated to rooting out inefficiency, clarifying lines of authority, and streamlining coordination between different levels of government." There IS a lot of inefficiency, duplicity and confusion in the NEPA process that DOES lead to delays and waste. And frankly, contractors are paid a lot of money to do bad work that DH and his team have to redo on their own time for no extra money (ask me how many time this has been a point of contention in our marriage - lol). DH is a treehugger, but he's also a pragmatist and he's distinguished himself as a leader of efficient processes. You would be flabbergasted to know how many extra steps and dollars are wasted just because bad processes became ingrained. Like, they do something wrong for twenty years and can't understand why they keep losing lawsuits following their process. DH comes in and says "it's easier, cheaper and you'll win lawsuits" and it's like taking Twitter away from Cheeto!
I digress....anyway, his department has "environment quality" in its name and we've nervously joked that his job might be at risk just for that. We've discussed this very thing - if word comes down that serious cuts are on the line, his strategy will be to highlight how his department can cut out some of the bullshit.
