We built the crib and changing table on Friday and I feel so much better now that it's done! I did some work in the baby's room this weekend and I'm getting the crib mattress delilvered today so I can put on the bedding. The room will really look mostly finished now. I just need to hang up some pictures and some star decals I bought then we'll be finished!
I took the PnP out and set it up yesterday as well. While I like the bassinet and napper features, they don't fit in the bag when I took it apart so I need to find somewhere else to put them. My plan for today is the bedding in the room and to open up the stroller and deal with that. I want everything ready by the end of this month!
I was having some serious BH last night which freaked me out a bit. They hurt and I was super uncomfortable so now I'm worried little man is coming sooner then later.

It feels so good to have things set up, right, King26?
AFM, here I am, still knocked up. It's H's birthday, so we're going to play mini-golf tonight, which might encourage baby, but he seems really comfortable so I doubt it. Eviction is set for August 2nd, so at max, we'll be snuggling in 9 days.

Hey ladies! Not too much going on, we're home now and settled in. Just getting into a routine, G is three weeks tomorrow and it's amazing how fast time is flying (though honestly, at 3am, it feels like time is crawling, so I guess it's relative). This is my last week off before going back to work, but DH is taking off more time to be home with G. Unfortunately, I have the more critical role in the company than he does, so he will have an easier time staying home than I would.
I have a race on Saturday and I haven't ran in over two weeks. I'm getting ready to go for a run now, but I'm 99% positive I'm going to die come Saturday. Ugh.
At my ENT's office, first post-op appointment after sinus surgery. It's my first clean out and I'm dreading it. I couldn't even take any good pain meds thanks to the FET. I did take 3 extra strength Tylenol (asked an ER doc yesterday that I'm friends with just to make sure).
And this afternoon, I have a monitoring appointment to see if my uterine lining is thick enough to do my transfer!
AFM, I have my first u/s on Wednesday and I'm really anxious. I'm also really nauseous, which I love(because it's a good sign) but hate (because well, nausea).
Ok two things. 1. Did your H's get the TDAP shot? We are trying to find somewhere that will cover DH's shot but no one will. They gave me mine at the OB/GYN clinic but wouldn't give him one.
2. I tested positive for Group B Strep. What does this mean? Do I need some type of antibiotic?

1. Yes, he did. He can get it from the pharmacy or the health dept. Especially the latter if insurance won't cover (wtf?). It is recommended that anyone who will be taking care of the baby get it for protection from pertussis. They only need it once, IF they haven't had the pertussis portion in the last like 10 years. Women get it with each pregnancy to provide passive immunity to the baby. 2. Yea, you'll get IV antibiotics during labor. This is to protect your baby from getting sick. Usually penicillin or ampicillin unless you're allergic.

Thank you. Yeah he just called the health department and they have free shots available so he'll go there. I'm not allergic to penicillin but pretty much all the males in my family plus my DH are. Do you think I should tell them that before they give it to me? I worry baby boy will be allergic although there is probably no scientific research saying there's any heredity of it but DH, brother, and dad are all allergic.
King26, if you've had penicillin or its derivatives before and didn't react, you should be fine. Derivatives are ampicillin, amoxicillin, augmentin, and a few more that I can't think of off the top of my head. It's worth mentioning though.

Hmm, my H was able to get the TDAP right at Rite Aid. Can you call insurance and ask where you can go? I feel like they really should cover it. Otherwise, Rite Aid told me it was about $80 if we didn't go through insurance, so hopefully if you have to pay OOP, it won't be insane.
Also, PSA, but MMR vaccines are only good for 10 years, so it's likely many of you might need a booster. I just got mine the other day
Correct. And you can't get it during pregnancy or within 3 months of getting pregnant. Fortunately, this is part of the normal first trimester labs, and MMR boosters are routinely given on postpartum. I was immune during my pregnancy, but had a titer drawn last fall for nursing school and was no longer immune. So I got my booster last fall.

Any ideas on how to get the sour milk smell out of burp rags? I'm going to try an oxyclean soak, then wash, dry, and hang in the sun. They are so stinky!
E is finally napping - this kid can resist naps like no other. We had speech this morning and I was so glad her therapist finally got to see some of the things she does while drinking her bottle - excessive rooting, crying, waving her arms all over, scrunching her whole body. We're going to try a higher flow nipple next week. I'm so ready to be done with the feeding tube. She's taking less then 20% of her milk via tube, so we're making progress, but I'm just so done with worrying about her pulling it out by accident and seeing it taped to her face.
King26 - does your H have a PCP? Would they do it? I often just go to Target for my shots, easier than making an appt and I get to fart around Target while I wait for them to get it ready.
Hi ladies! I'm off for the summer with the kids and taking advantage of it as much as possible, so I haven't been around here as much as usual. DD is in daycamp this week so I get a little relief. Glad to come by and read everyone's updates!
R is 13.5 months now. The doctor gave me shit for still using bottles so I switched his last two daily bottles to straw cups yesterday. Not sure I really agree that it's vitally important to wean at 12 mos but bottles are a pain and he seems to be taking it ok so, we'll go with it. He's on the cusp of walking I think, stands on his own but won't actually take any steps unless he can cruise along the furniture. It won't be long!
H and I talked and have decided to discontinue storage of our sole remaining embryo. I'm kind of on the fence about a third, I think on one hand, we could make it work but in the other I don't really have any desire to be pregnant again and we would need to make significant lifestyle adjustments to add a third child. Either way I really don't have it in me to have treatments or TTC again. Doubt it will happen naturally and honestly that's okay. It makes me a little sad as R grows up and out of the baby stage but we have all the fun of having older kids to look forward to.

1) Mine did because he was in the UK at the time and it was offered there. I did not get it because my province was not suffering a pertussis outbreak at the time I was pregnant, so it wasn't covered under my healthcare. My family all got flu shots, however, and we were militant about hand washing. A was a winter baby and was never sick as a newborn.

Yep, I got my booster 2 days after my c-section. I had been screened for antibodies a year prior to getting pregnant with A, but my Canadian screening came back that I needed a booster - by which point I was already 24 weeks pregnant.
dellabear, I'm curious, why did your doctor say bottles were bad? A still gets about 4 per day. She'll also drink out of a straw cup, so I don't see the harm developmentally, and she doesn't fall asleep with a bottle in her mouth so I doubt it's wrecking her teeth... I quite like it because I didn't breastfeed, so it's a special mama-baby cuddle time, but if it's terrible maybe I should stop.
loira, TBH I have a feeling it is just "the recommendation" as our doc is pretty "by the book". She said they can cause problems with their palate and teeth and that if I decided to continue to give bottles before sleeping I should be brushing his teeth (tooth) afterward. (Yeah, right. I give him a bottle so he'll go right to sleep.) Also something about him filling up on milk and not getting enough of other things he needs. He's 24 lb so I'm not too worried!
My usual MO is to smile and nod and do what I want. Since we are going on vacation next week I decided to try weaning bottles because they are a hassle to deal with. It's going ok so we'll stick with it, if it wasn't, I'd have KOKO for the time being. I know lots of kids who use(d) bottles after 12 mos.
oneslybookworm- how long is your H planning on taking off? Im just trying to grasp how you would be able to find daycare so quickly. (Well how you've done everything so quickly for that matter)
pooh8402- there is a love button on Facebook. 😜 edit: never mind it wasn't Facebook it was Instagram.

Ugh...daycare has been a mess, I'll be honest. Because Gabe was a preemie, we don't want to put him in right away. DH is talking with his boss today to see what can be done, either him taking FMLA or a leave of absence (likely until October). Both are unpaid, so that's just fabulous...because the adoption was totes free and we swim in money (said no one ever).
I'm taking off through next week, then I'm back in August. It's not ideal, but we'll figure it out. We start interviewing nannies later this week because daycare can't get him in until MAYBE December. Sigh.

I hope she's snuggling that sweet little boy!
I'm heading to the doctor to see when this kid will make his grand appearance. Every conversation we have is, "Well, if we don't have a baby by Wednesday, we'll check out X restaurant" or "Well, if he's not here yet, maybe we can do XYZ."
dellabear, we let my DS have bottles until like 17 months. We tried to get rid of them earlier but it was too much stress. Once he was ready to be done it was super easy.
oneslybookworm, love the picture! I hope you can get a nanny or something figured out. I'm sure it's extra stressful since it was so sudden.
