What books have you read this week? What are you currently reading? Like/Dislike any of them?
QOTW: If you could change one thing about wherever you call home, what would it be? (could be layout, location, missing a bedroom, different oven, new floors, whatever)

I'm reading 3 books at one time. I never do that but decided to give it a try when I got 3 library holds at once.
Those of you who read multiple books at once how do you decide which one to pick up when?
I'm currently reading a chapter/section and then picking up the next and so on.
I'm reading The Twelve (The Passage #2) and really enjoying it. New York 2140 - I like parts of it. Other parts are boring and seem unnecessary. I'm hoping maybe the unnecessary parts end up tying in at the end or something. I'm also reading Life and Death (Twilight retelling) and it's confusing and difficult.
QOTW: I want more space. More floor space (bigger rooms) more counter and cabinet space, and more storage space.

This week I made some process on The Wolf of Wallstreet. It started off great, now it's just getting redundant and pretty graphic.
QOTW: Maybe a bigger back yard so we could install a pool. Laundry on the top floor near the bedroom. A master bath or a nicer finished basement...that's not one thing lol.
Read last week Nothing! Didn't finish a single book. House stuff took over my life.
Currently (still) reading Fall of Kings (#3 in series) by David Gemnel - historical fiction; soooo closed to being finished! The Fix (#3 in series) by David Baldacci - mystery/thriller; OMG i am so bored by this book but it's almost finished too
QOTW: We haven't moved into the new house yet, but no house is perfect so there are still small things that I wish were different. The backyard is pretty huge but the pool is seriously super small, especially in comparison, so it's kind of strange. I know, total FWP, at least we have a pool (I am excited about having one in the first place!). And I wish the house had 3 full baths instead of 2.5. because any guests will have to walk across to the complete other side of the house to take a shower. Oh, and I wish there was a big closet somewhere in the house just to put stuff in like christmas decorations etc so we could avoid having to deal with the hot attic (it's florida, it's always hot up there). So yeah, not one thing. But those are small things - I loooove my new house. It's so nice and clean right now because it's empty and will never be that nice and clean again HAHA

I'm halfway through Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
QOTW: There's a lot, but we live in a parsonage so it's a take what you get thing. We just gave the trustees a prioritized list of things that need fixed or replaced, though, so we'll see what on our wish list we are able to get.
Qotw: We moved into our current house a year ago. I don't love our house, but given the cost of living in the area and size of other housing in the area we got extremely lucky - large house in a small gated community, quiet neighbors,..... I do hope our next house is closer to family, in a much smaller town, and our yard is much bigger(we have a pool which is nice but I'd give up the pool for a bigger yard in a heartbeat).
I'm still working my way through The Alice Network, but I should finish tonight or tomorrow. I'm really enjoying the Eve portion of the story, but the further I get into the book the less I'm enjoying the Charlie half (Charlotte is super annoying).
QOTW: Our house desperately needs new interior paint, new floors, and new interiors doors and trim, plus all of our bathrooms and the kitchen need to be remodeled (they are perfectly functional, they are just old and worn out). We did the exterior a few years ago, with all new windows, front door, garage doors, and exterior paint, and our landscaping is decent, so we have nice curb appeal, we're just super shabby inside. If I could magically change something outside of my control, I'd make the loud neighbors go away.
It's been a slow couple of weeks. On Tuesday, the third book in Ilona Andrew's Hidden Legacy was released. I read Wildfire all today and it was awesome! The epilogue made it seem like there could be a fourth book and I would be so excited if there was. Ugh! So wrong of them to tease their fans like this. LOL!
I'm trying to decide what to read next. I have the first book Charlaine Harris's Aurora Teagarden mystery series checked out. I'm also going to check out the Linesman series from S.K. Dunstall. I'm reading a sample right now and it's definitely caught my attention.
QOTW: If you could change one thing about wherever you call home, what would it be? (could be layout, location, missing a bedroom, different oven, new floors, whatever)
More space! I need a place for the kids to go and play that isn't the main living area. Also I'd love my own room. DH and I share the spare room as an office/craft space, but I think we could each use a room to ourselves. I sometimes dream about having a little cottage behind our house that's all mine.
I'm rereading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm about to start The Woman in Cabin 10 since I forgot the discussion was today. I may add my own thoughts later but mainly I just want to read everyone's thoughts after reading it.
QOTW: I hate that there isn't a good place for the litter box. I need the laundry room or something to grow and accommodate that. Or hardwood floors.

Still reading Drums of Autumn. I only read about one a year, but this one hasn't grabbed me like the others. I usually love Claire's story, but there's a lot of scenery detail that I find myself skimming and look forward more to Brianna's story...
QOTW: definitely location! My husband loves water so we want to retire in the PNW, but I could be happy in Co. we've also tossed Me around, but I've never spent time there in the winter!
I just finished Who Thought this was a good Idea? by Alyssa Mastromonaco. She worked for Obama and it was a great read. Relatable (to white chicks, anyway), funny, insightful and ultimately inspiring. Plus there's great pics!
I just started The Mists of Avalon. I feel like that's one everyone read twenty years ago, but I kept missing it (I remember going on a quest for it at various used book stores once but came up short, then forgot about it)

I finally finished Girl in a Red Tunic (not worth the time, though the mystery was pretty good) and started something fun, The Dragon in the Ghetto Caper by E.L. Konigsburg. It's a faster read and I hope to have it finished by tonight so I can take a more adult book with me Sunday for the Dance Recital I need to attend.
QOTW: I like my house, but there are three things I would change if I could. (1) more cabinets in the kitchen. I do not have any upper cabinets and I miss the space they bring. (2) I would add a set of stairs to the back yard/clothes line so I did not have to walk all the way around the house to get to the clothesline. And (3) I would open the bathroom & toilet into one big room. I hate the separate toilet, especially since I have to walk across a white carpeted call to get to the sink from the toilet. Actually that's my biggest complaint about the house, the toilet closet!
I just started The Lake House by Kate Morton, appropriate since we are spending a long weekend at a lake house. Also halfway through The Turner House by Angela Flournoy, but I've set aside for a fluffier weekend break.
We want a porch, ideally a screened/windowed three-season porch. When we were house hunting a porch was one of our must-haves and of course we ended up choosing a house without one. We will add it on someday when we are ready to spend the money.
I'm close to wrapping up An Echo in the Bone reread. I have a few other things piled up next to my bed but I'm not sure what I'll grab to go cabin camping today. Looking so forward to some chill time reading a book in the forest.
QOTW: our big home improvement list is a mile long, so there are lots of things I want to change or improve. The thing I can't really change though is I wouldn't mind a bit more enclosure of our open floor plan. I like the openness but it's a little too much in some places and in the way the sound carries, especially up to the bedrooms.

I loved this. I've read it a couple of times starting as a teenager.

I'm currently reading a chapter/section and then picking up the next and so on.
...
Most of the time when I'm "reading" multiple books at once one is an audiobook. So, I'll read the actual book when I'm sitting down, on the bus, going to bed, etc. and then listen to the audiobook when walking the dog or doing chores.
Occasionally I'll read 2 actual books at once, usually due to a library deadline or upcoming book club or whatever, in which case I'll prioritize the one that has a due date and maybe pick up the other one at bed time. But, I don't actually do this very often.
I just finished The Gathering Storm, which is the 12th book in the Wheel of Time series and the first co-authored by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson after Jordan died. I like it because it starts to resolve some of the major storylines.
This morning, I started A Court of Thorns and Roses at the recommendation of this board. I'm liking it better than Throne of Glass, so thanks for the recommendation!
I'm listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is always excellent. I have to finish it quickly now because I have 2 other audiobooks from my library, which is something I don't quite know how to handle. One of them is Caraval, which I never thought I'd get in time for book club when I put myself on the wait list.

If I have more than one book going, they're usually pretty different and I pick based on my mood. When Homegoing got too heavy, I read a few chapters in Who Thought This Was a Good Idea?

Currently Reading:
Walking To Listen: 4,000 Miles Across AMerica, one Story at a time I am really enjoying this!! Andrew Forstehoefel set out to walk across America, he recorded people he met along the way, so the book is written where one chapter is about his life and story and adventures, the next chapter is quotes from people he met (some generous some not so much) along the way
I See You by Clare Mackintosh
I have not actually started reading this yet, probably will tonight The Perfect Stranger by Megan Miranda
So far so good! Same author of All The Missing Girls, suspenseful
QOTD: I really wish I could completely remodel my kitchen. I hate it. I want a top notch beautiful sparkling kitchen (with island)
I just started My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. So far so good! I can't read a lot of chick lit but something about the heat of summer calls for it.
QOTW: I wish we had space for a dedicated office. We have 4 bedrooms but they are all fairly small so the extra bedroom is used as DD's playroom. If were to every buy another house I would want one with a small office area. It's a pain using our computer in the dining room and when DH works from home he has no where to go.
Still reading A Murder in Time. I am enjoying it, unrealistic premise of time travel (which of course I new going in!), but I am enjoying the mystery. The author does use a few words repetitively, which I find annoying.
QOTW: I would love a porch. It was on the want list when house hunting, but it was something we did not get.

Did you read the full series of them? I read Mists first and later realized there was a series. I read them in reverse order for some reason, but I really enjoyed them. I have the movie version of MoA, too.

I know I've read several, but not sure if all. At least, if the series you're referring to is a bit loosely connected (not usually same people, but same ideas). I think The Forest House was another of them? And there was one where the priestess was sent to Rome our something like that? It's been a while.
I hope you don't mind a new to this board coming by.
I just finished "It Ends with Us." It was a first for me with this author and wow does she have a loyal fan base. The book was not that good, but Goodreads has it at 4.4 stars. I really dislike books that take place over a significant period and there are few markers for time.
I've got 3 in the queue, so I'm not sure which one I'll start tonight.
QOTW: We are a little over year into our new build house and the backyard needs something. I would love a pool, but I'm poor so we're thinking at least doing a patio. We only did a screened porch and small deck through the builder.

Welcome! I found that book via this group. I believe there's still an older thread with some similiar reviews.

It Ends With Us was not my favorite Colleen Hoover book. Overall I really like her as an author although I don't think she is the best writer. Her books tend to suck me in though where I want to just to do nothing else until I am done. However, her books tend to be very heavy and I can only take them in small doses.
I'm listening to Burying Water by K.A. Tucker. It's intriguing, but I don't love it.
I'm reading Cast in Shadow by Michelle Sagara. I'm only a few percent in. I don't have an opinion yet, but the writing style doesn't read easy and it's taking a bit of getting used to.
QOTW: We just moved to what we hope will be our forever home last summer. I pretty much got everything on my wishlist for the house (entertaining-able, master bath, more square footage than our previous home), but DH didn't get his garage. We have one, but it doesn't work with our very in depth involvement with cars. We are going to have to have a garage built at some point in the next few years to be able to keep up with that. I don't want to think about the cost of the project, but I REALLY can't wait to not hear cut off wheels and other air tools. The garage we do have shares a wall with our family room and that shit is LOUD.
That and I'm dying to renovate the bathrooms. I can't justify it yet since they are perfectly neat and functional, but they are strait out of 1989.
