I'm watching Gilmore Girls or the first time and i raise my eyebrows A LOT during that show.
I stumbled upon an episode of the Brady Bunch the other weekend. It was a battle of the sexes episode where Carol and Mike switched household duties. I had to change it.
Definitely went to school with a kid who had a normal first name (say, John) with that last name. Great, John Fudge, no big. Except they named his sister Coco.
ETA: I'll delete this later so PDQ but the manager of a chain in my town was named Gay Hooker. Yes I knew her personally, so no this is not hearsay. Oof.
I have a client with a similarly negative last name, but they own a farm. It's akin to Prostitute Farm and makes me giggle every time I get mail from them.

I just have no idea why she wouldn't change it! Or maybe it's her husband's last name, and she chose to change it that way? Which is even more confusing to me. I definitely would not have taken on that last name if I was getting married.
The first name makes sense because she is an older woman, and the connotation that goes with it, or did, was happy and joyous. But to put it with that last name? I'll just say that kids my age were not very nice about it when I was growing up, when her daughter (same last name) was our substitute teacher.
We have a Judge Justice here and a Dr Bonebrake (so close, but sounds right over the PA).
I worked with a girl named Denise whose last name was a regular name (I don't recall but it was like Nickman or something like that) but she married a guy with the last name Kneis. He pronounced the K and her married name now rhymed: De-NEES KeNEES.

I used to work with a Denise Dennis. She married into it. I'm curious about her maiden name of that what she opted for.
I worked for a medical-related company years ago, and we had a doctor in our records named Richard Chopp.
He went by Dick.
And he was a urologist who regularly ran promos to perform vasectomies.
I was just coming in here to say this! Is it made up? I wonder if you're from the same place as me. I remember my mom telling me about this, but I wasn't sure if it was true.

Not made up. He's from the great state of Texas. At least the great part of Austin. Judge Justice was from Texas too. He was the federal judge who ordered desegregation of schools in Texas, iirc. I wonder if Officer Law was also from there.
My brother's first name is my mother's maiden name. His middle name is my grandmother's remarried last name (dad's step-father). So all his names are grandparent last names. And none of them are unique as last names; they're all used as first names that aren't uncommon (but neither are they common John or Steven type names.) This isn't a new thing going on since he's almost 57 years old now.
I'm judging my friend for worrying about what others think in regards to her new "relationship". They have been dating maybe 2 weeks, playing house a lot (I know!!! I see it from the other side) and she was more worried about OTHER PEOPLE seeing and how many likes she got on her relationship status change on FB.
I don't think she liked my dose of reality when I was like "hey, do you care about the likes or do you care about the dude?" I don't think she was expecting it from me. My dude and I aren't even FB friends, I don't care what people think, but she's talking about in the future him possibly moving in. She has 2 boys who are 3rd/4th grade and newly divorced. I'm really thinking this is a rush to get who can pretend they are happiest first with her and her XH. It's just a train wreck.

I went to high school with a guy with the last name of Mister. I spent wayyy too much time thinking about what would happen when he got older lol. Would people call him Mr. Mister??! Would his wife be Mrs. Mister??! So confusing 😂

My sister has 2 pugs named Henry and Francis. They take them for play dates to their neighbors who have 2 girl pugs named Nikki and Dakota. I refer to the girl pugs as the Hooters Pugs.
Since we are doing weird name stories: My maiden name is a traditional female first name, and both my grandfather AND his brother married women with that first name. So sisters in law, both named the equivalent of "Mary Mary." (It was my grandfather's second marriage, so she actually changed her name to "Mary Mary" in her 60s).
