Oh! We are back after a great weekend camping at a children's amusement park and Amish country. I'm taking a break before bringing the last load inside. Next a quick clean of the inside and grocery shopping/meal prep.
The big kids start school tomorrow and I start my very specific nutrition/workout plan. Nerves all around.
I'm at work today. The office is closed but I am trying to get ahead of the looming budget situation. One of my jobs (not usually a big part) is reporting on and managing the budget for my VP. But industry volume is down and execs are panicking, plus my newish VP is much more hands on with finance stuff than the previous, which is forcing me to be so also. I am trying to learn tableau software so I am trying to load all the budget garbage into tableau. My totals don't match. Shoot me.
Yesterday was the family reunion. It went really well! We had probably 50 people turn up and enough food for 200. It was great though. My SIL brought her fancy camera and took pictures near the river of all the family units. They turned out great.

Thumbs down for working today but I'm glad the reunion was a success!
We had a fun date day/night on Saturday. After the football game, we went out for ice cream without the kids. I felt like the ice cream shop and I were cheating on my kids. Also, after the football game, traffic was crazy, so we sat on the tailgate of our SUV and just hung out, holding hands. It was really nice, and very unlike DH. We also decided to take the kids to a game in November. It's at the Dallas Cowboys stadium, so indoors and if we get club level tickets there's a big area for the kids to run around inside so they can escape the noise. Plus ticket price includes food and booze.
Today was good too. Quiet. I haven't left our house all day. Neither have the kids. But we swam for a long time, so no cabin fever. And I made spicy turkey meatloaf for dinner, which is so damn good. It takes forever, so it's not on our regular rotation.

I exercised really hard today and swam a lot this weekend. I've also drank a ton of wine and last night I ate a bunch of ordeals. Oh and H made a really good roast. I am hoping it will all balance out.
Oh, and my not-yet-3yo is waking up dry in panties and giving up her nap. 😊ðŸ˜ðŸ˜„😕😣🤔 so many feelings.
ETA: oreos. I ate a bunch of Oreos. But leaving it because at a bunch of ordeals is making me laugh.

I worked 14 hours of OT over the last 3 days, so I'm tired. I worked just my normal shift today but would have had to work OT tonight too if it hadn't been my Friday. I was very busy today at work, but it was a good busy.
I bought tickets to a concert today for November and I'm excited. DH already arranged a babysitter too.
I ended up working 7 hours and not solving my problems. Going to get up at 4:30 and try before everyone gets there tomorrow.
DH has been fighting a cold for several days. He came to thebreunion and helped a lot especially with set up and clean up, but today he got some needed rest (other than solo parenting all day). Meanwhile when I got home I did 2 loads of laundry, vacuumed downstairs, took care of the dog, and did dishes. I am beat!
Paging saraml13 more reports on the wedding? Was there a surprise costume party? Did everyone know when & where the rehearsal dinner was? (Did anyone wear a sport coat and slacks?)
akafred, I've taught myself how to use Tableau at a very basic level. I honestly find that googling something like "make totals match up on tableau" gives me really good results - the help forums they have are pretty exhaustive with good tips. I just think it's easier to google it than try to navigate within their help area. It's how I've figured out basically everything I know how to do in there.
k3am, Sending you guys hugs and strength this week. Good luck!
Funny/not funny anecdote from this weekend. Last weekend before school started I spent the afternoon sorting every article of clothing for the girls to swap out too small stuff for new sizes/seasons. But, I ran out of time before I could bag it all up and do something with it. So, they've had a big plastic tub that was just a heap of clothes in their room. Not a laundry basket, not a hamper. A giant plastic tub. DH decided to "help" with the laundry, and washed that tub full of clothes. And mixed in clothes from the actual hamper. So I spent yesterday re-sorting every single thing again while I folded the laundry. I still can't figure out why he didn't pick up the actual laundry basket instead of this obviously not a laundry basket plastic tub...
librarychica, lol. I was guessing you were using voice to text and said "hors d'oeuvres". I'm glad you got Oreos.
DS actually told us yesterday that he needed to potty! And he pooped in the potty. Though we still saw him running around looking for a hiding place to poop and had to make him sit on the toilet. He had zero accidents yesterday. I'm so excited.
My kids were pretty hilarious this weekend. DS informed us he needs chocolate milk instead of water because water is too spicy. He also informed us he can't eat dinner because "Spider-Man doesn't have a mouth." DD got tired of my playing with the new sewing machine and seriously informed me that "People are more important than a shirt."

Celebration: We had a great weekend camping with friends. Some friends that don't usually camp with us were there, and some of their kids are close to or a bit older than mine, so they had a good time playing together. One of the daughters is 12 and spent time helping DD ride her bike, so I asked the mom if she would want to babysit (when the mom feels she's ready), and the mom said yes. We've lost some of our babysitters due to aging out, so now I'm hopeful we've found a few more. (Two of the other daughters will be babysitting age in another year or two.)
Vent: DH, DS (patient zero), and DD all have colds. (DH has actually been pretty good this time and not acting like he's on his death bed.) I've been taking vitamin C with zinc and elderberry lozenges to try and keep it at bay. We are coming into my busiest month at work, and I cannot get sick.
Vent: Just heard back about some blood work I had done. Apparently my thyroid level is low AND I may have celiac disease and/or some other autoimmune situation going on. So that's... great. Now I have to have a whole second panel done and I won't get the results back until my physical in October.
On the one hand, I kind of hope the celiac diagnosis just comes back positive and I can adjust and move on. I've been having worsening issues that other diet changes haven't fixed. But also... gluten free life might kill me. I eat A LOT of carbs. Like, an embarrassing amount.

Covergirl82, there are a few girls ranging in ages 8-14 in the group we camp with. I can spend the daytime hours camping basically childless with them around. It's wonderful.
mommyatty, My DS is potty training right now too. He has no issues pooping in the potty, but heaven forbid he actually pees in the potty. OMG he is so stubborn.
We potty trained. I sent him to school in underwear. We shall see how it goes. If this week goes poorly then we might put it off a little bit longer. I'm just tired of pull ups.
So the big news from the weekend is May car has oil leaks to the tune of 3K. Plus needs new shocks. And we just put on new tires. It's paid off next month and has 95K miles. I was looking forward to no payment but the repairs are already adding up. DH wants to get a second opinion and if it's the real deal to just trade it in. I ran some numbers and think we can trim the payment some and that it might be the best option, to have a warrantied vehicle. DH will only be home 5 days this month, so he doesn't want to spend more time on auto stuff.
This weekend we had an impromptu get together on Friday, I went to a college football game on Saturday evening, we went to the lake for 24 hours (I ran a couple miles while there) and managed one birthday party (out of three) and errands. I am so tired.
Pretty good weekend. Beautiful weather and a couple of fun cookouts. The only thing is that living in a small town, I have to still deal with high school shenanigans from grown ass women.
Vent. Ds is home with DH and is going to get tested for strep. I kind of hope he has it to get some antibiotics to clear it up quickly. Thank goodness Dh was already off today.

Vent 1 - My cleaning lady bailed on me. She recently cut back on the days that she was cleaning but stressed that she was keeping us since we are on a regular schedule. She requested to move this weeks cleaning from Monday to Tuesday due to the holiday. She usually shows up between 8:00-8:15 and I still haven't heard from her and its after 9 here. I don't plan on firing her anytime soon since I don't NEED her and I just really love her, but she's starting to be kind of flaky and I think she's getting overwhelmed.
Vent 2 - My hand issues are not just miraculously getting better on their own and are spreading to my elbow now. I can't really grip anything so that's been fun. I go to the orthopedic dr next Tuesday to see if I need surgery again.
DH and I went to his bff's wedding in Omaha. I'm glad we left the boys with grandparents, because the whole wedding weekend continued to be disorganized and DH ditched me a ton as is. The wedding was kind of meh. A lot of the mutual friends I know didn't make it to the wedding. I was also just generally unimpressed with the wedding. Most notably, instead of a cake they just did a table with different kinds of Oreos and milk.
The boys survived a weekend with the grandparents (split between both sides). I have to roll my eyes at all the grandparents, who completely ignored all advice about things like naps and not giving them a gallon of juice, then complained about them being a handful.
Celebration: I heard back from the company I've had marathon interviews with. I really like the company and culture, and they are putting together an offer. Yay!
Vent: I don't have all the details yet, but the offer is definitely going to come in under what I was looking for. I'll definitely negotiate, but it's still a ways away from what I was thinking. When I get more details, I may post a SO thread.
twinmomma, all three of DH's siblings have celiac's disease, and were diagnosed almost ten years ago. What I can say is that there is a ton more available in terms of food to buy and food and restaurants than there used to be. But it does take some getting used to. Often times if you test positive they will want to scope you to confirm. We actually just had DD tested as part of her health crisis that she is going through, but have not gotten the results back yet.
The weekend was great, we were up north. Minus DD waking up several times a night while we were there. I think that her health craziness has taken a toll on her. Today was DS's first day of school, and he got on the bus and looked super excited. DD was sad that she and DS no longer go to the same school, like much more disappointed than I thought that she would be. They are three years apart and have never been in the same class at daycare, so it was a little surprising. But I am excited to see how his first day goes at kindergarten.

Weekend camping was fun, but exhausting. And now both kids have colds. DS has his swim team try-out tomorrow, which he has been working hard on all summer, so I hope he gets better soon, or at least doesn't get worst.

DH took the kids with him to his hometown so I had a great weekend!
Even though I had Friday off, it didn't feel like it. I took my car in for an oil change and to check the A/C. Turns out the A/C issue will cost nearly $500. I wasn't ready for that bill so I'll enjoy the mild weather and get it fixed next month when I don't have a ton of back to school expenses. By the time I was done at the dealership, it was close to 1 so I only had time for lunch and a little shopping before I had to pick DS up at school.
Saturday was grocery shopping and enjoying my quiet house for a while before I started painting the stairway and trim. That took almost 6 hours but it was so great to not be interrupted 100 times.
Sunday I woke up with a massive headache which thankfully went away so I put another coat on the trim but took a break at lunch thinking the headache was due to the paint (even though it's low VOC). After lunch I went shopping and decided to catch up on some videos and articles I had been saving for a while.
Monday was a last coat of paint on the trim and then I took on some landscaping, putting pavers down near our front door. It's a weird area that I normally planted flowers in but I wasn't happy with it and thought I'd extend the sidewalk with pavers. It looks good but it was really hard work. That area has a lot of clay/wet dirt as well as rocks so it was a beast. I'm really sore today.
Vent: I received a work email on Saturday that I didn't think much of but when I looked yesterday, I realized it was relatively urgent. Our partners were expecting us to pay for hotel space for an upcoming event. I looked at the entire string and people were referencing my name but no one included my email address on it so I didn't receive any of them. I made sure to send a CYA (cover your a**) email to my boss and the other internals so they knew I didn't get them. They were a month old and we were almost going to lose these spaces!
