I'm in the hospital right now, I had a breast reduction today. I had to go out of town to get it done so I stayed in the hospital the night before too. I have a private room and the wing I'm in is nearly empty so it's been nice and quiet. I'm actually really enjoying the break from home after dealing with constant illnesses in my house since school started, capped off by a case of head lice in DD last week. Ugh! Anyway, the surgery went well and the pain is minimal and omg yay for small boobs!
dellabear, enjoy your recovery! I hope it stays nice and relaxing and easy for you
This week is my first week back at work! I am looking forward to having a normal routine again, but I was sad that when I picked S up last night he was fussy and then fell asleep right away and slept all night--I missed him!
@daylily, I am just so happy that you are pregnant! We told our families the list of top names and they were so vocal about the ones they hated. Drove me batty. They also didn't believe that we never narrowed it down until meeting the little guy, they just thought we had a front runner the whole time (we did not). I say keep it to yourself.
@daylily - I don't think we will be telling anyone the name either, although H already blabbered our top girl name and I tried to play it off as we hadn't made a decision yet. I am glad you are excited for the anatomy scan!
When I was pg with DD we didn't discuss names and my mom harassed me about it constantly so finally I said it's between X and Y. But secretly we had pretty much 99% decided on X. She was like oh, not X, I don't like that at all. I was like, we'll see. Couple days later X was born and she now claims not to have said that.
Pandora congrats on the house, do you need to do any work or is it move in ready?

one of the names both of our moms hated we seriously considered even MORE just to spite them.
Hope recovery goes well dellabear! Congrats on the move pandora89! We are not sharing names @daylily. People are way too opinionated so we're keeping our top choices to ourselves.
Our weather is kicking my butt this week. It's 40s in the mornings and upper 70s in the afternoons. My head feels like it wants to explode right now.
Can't believe it's time for you to go back Shauni!
GL at the anatomy scan kelikans, it's fun getting to see your peanut for so much longer than the other ultrasounds.
Baby goontz is 3 weeks already, man time really does fly. He's so good and I love getting to hang out with him all day. I'm ready for sleeping to get more routine though...some nights are brutal. I think he has a sensitive stomach so he can get a bit gassy/uncomfortable at times. I'm exclusively pumping so by the time I get him fed, back to sleep & I pump...I'm lucky to get more than an hour of sleep at a time.
Guys. Please tell me that it takes a while for babies to put together the pieces of crawling/army crawling.
I don't know how to embed a video here that's on my phone, but we are SO SCREWED. P is figuring out the individual pieces of the army crawl and is quickly putting them together.
Three days ago, he was bending his legs and trying to push off with his knees, his knees bent to the side. Two days ago, he was doing this while trying to figure out how to put one arm out. It was unsuccessful and he kept falling on his face. Yesterday, I watched him as he got that one arm out and then pushed down, pulling himself a few inches forward.
SEND HELP!! Please tell me this is a long process and my kid won't be army crawling across the floor in a few days. I'm not ready! Isn't he too little for this? HELP! I like being able to set him down and know he'll still be there when I finish peeing.

It's move in/live in ready. The first floor is renovated (new kitchen) but I guess when they did the kitchen renovation they took our a supporting wall or didn't install an appropriate beam so there is some sagging upstairs. H is going to put in a beam and fix the support. Depending on how that goes, we will at least have to replace all the dry wall in the second floor. We may be able to salvage the hardwood floors but may have to replace those as well.
The washroom works but is straight out of the 70s (including a seashell shaped sink) so we will be doing a bathroom reno as well.
I also want to paint the front entrance and change out the front door along with all the bedroom doors. But we bought an old house in the city so we expected all of this.

It's so different for each kid. It did take B a while from that point to army crawling, and then from army crawling to real crawling (which was a game changer because the kid is FAST). But I think others go from 0 to 60! Probably (hopefully!) not quite this young though.
Also, revel in these moments because you're right - you will never have peace again when your child is awake. I used to be able to stick him in the jumper when I wanted to contain him for a few minutes, but now he can climb out of it.
I'm traveling again this week. I left Sunday afternoon and won't be back til late Friday night. This one is going better so far. DH seems to be holding up better, or at least not complaining to me as much. Last trip I had migraines every day and they haven't hit me so far this time. I miss my babies but right now I'm in my pjs, hanging out in my quiet, clean hotel room, watching Naked and Afraid. lol!
Ack, just got back from an OB appointment. With everything going on with my age, my BP, and baby's heart they don't want me going past 38 weeks. That's too soon! Holy crap, it's less than 3 weeks to go.
I need to order a breast pump. Which one? There's so many to choose from! My insurance will cover both the Medela PISA and a Spectra S2 which seem to be the most highly rated.
pandora89 , sounds like a good mix, kitchens are so expensive it's nice that yours is already redone but at the same time it's kinda nice to do a bit of renos and put your own stamp on it.

I have no experience with the Spectra, but the Medela PISA was fine for me.

Not much to update. Everyone agrees with the diagnosis so now it's just wait til birth to do an echo and determine when/where the surgery will be. Everything else still looks good and baby is doing fine.
Hi everyone! Just chugging along over here. I have my second trimester screen next week. I've been getting pretty anxious waiting for my next appointment, but I'm trying to remind myself that there's nothing to indicate that anything should be wrong. Easier said than done.
I have my surgery on Thursday. I went for my pre-anesthesia consult today and spoke with an OB anesthesiologist. The plan will probably be to do a spinal. It'll be safest for baby since the meds won't really get to him. She won't be the one doing the anesthesia, but will hopefully be able to stop by before my procedure to check in. And we will also be doing fetal monitoring (I'm not sure if it'll just be a doppler check or an ultrasound) before and after the procedure just to verify that baby is okay. So I'm feeling okay with all of it. Ideally I'd rather not have to go through it at all, but I guess it's the best case scenario.
Hope you have an easy recovery, dellabear! Good luck with your first week back, shauni27! I can't believe you're almost halfway there, @daylily! I'm glad you're able to get excited. I'm looking forward to that, instead of constant worry. Congrats on the new place pandora89!
We've been discussing names and it is so hard! Of course both sets of parents have their opinions. We've been sharing with them, and I don't really care what they have to say. MIL is definitely more opinionated, and I told DH that I don't give a rat's ass what her opinion is if we like the name. But we are still having a tough time. Boy names are so hard! Especially with our last name.

I have been using the spectra 2 for all of 3 days but I like it more than the madela at the hospital.
We didn’t discuss names and no one believed us that we didn’t have a name picked! He wasn’t named for 3 days. knx9211 T started doing that around 6m but didn’t crawl closer to 8m.
You guys, I got the panorama test results back! Everything is low risk. My PCP forgot to put that I wanted to know the gender so have to wait a few more days for that but I am not bothered in the least about that. Such a relief.

Hi Ladies! Not a ton going on here...just hanging out and trucking along! G is doing really well, growing so fast and really filling out. Getting chubby, which I absolutely love! He really likes daycare and I feel like our little family is really settled into a good routine for the most part. He's still not really understanding crawling, as he HATES being on his stomach, so tummy time doesn't happen much in our house. He sits up in a chair quite a bit, and does great when he't on our shoulder, so I'm not too worried about head control or anything. Plus, his adjusted age is only a little over 2 months, so not really a worry. I can't believe he's 15 weeks today! Insane we've had him so long, but it's been amazing as well.
Honestly, not much is going on. We're just hanging out and loving on each other and it's great!
I feel like a fish out of water. DH said I need to go back to work so I stop worrying but isn't doing any better . If you soothed your LO to sleep what did you do? We've gotten into the routine of me walking around the house singing but it's killing my back and shoulders. I need a new plan.
Anyone rock their kid to sleep? We've tried drowsy but awake and it isn't happening.
Also, did anybody wear their babies a lot when they were little? I feel like I want to wear him more because I'm running out of ways to entertain him. When do they start playing more themselves? Do I have to entertain him all day? I'm good for an hlur....we eat, change him, talk to him, hold him, tummy time or.piano gym then I'm stumped and I can feel my anxiety flair up.
pandora89, WHAT A RELIEF! I am SO happy for you Do you have any gut feelings on sex?
oneslybookworm, S hates being on his tummy too, but we do it as often as possible, even if it is just for a minute or two. He generally stays on his belly without crying for up to 10 minutes in the morning hours--he will roll around a bit and kick and lift his head or legs or arms and try different things. But other than that, the rest of the day it is like 1 -2 minutes and that's it.
King26, we sound a bit familiar--my H said that going back to work would be the best thing for me to stop my anxiety. It turns out just time in general eased my anxiety (along with upping my zoloft!), but I was pretty anxious for that first month or so. I think it is really normal.
We, too, had a baby that was tough to get to sleep for about 6 weeks. The one thing that worked all the time was a yoga ball. We would bounce him on that in our arms and he would bliss out and fall asleep. Sometimes it took 20 minutes, but it always worked. But yes, SORE back and arms. I promise it will get better.
As for what to do to entertain him--I put S in the baby bjorn bouncy chair and swear by it. At first he hated it and would cry. I would leave him in for a few minutes of crying each time and then he just eventually stopped. He loves it now and is also comfortable in just about anything else we put him in. I will put him in the bouncy chair and just set him up to watch me as I do whatever I am doing (cooking, showering, paying bills, etc). As I do it, I talk to him non-stop about what I am doing, every now and then give him a tickle, etc. The most I do this for is an hour, but at the beginning I could only get about 10 minutes out of him. But does J not nap throughout the day at all? I would think that after an hour of everything you mentioned you do, he would be zoning out and ready to sleep. S would be for sure.
Lastly, around 6 weeks I was just desperate to be outside and doing some thing. I would strap S to me and go for walks. Or put him in the stroller and go for walks. It would help pass the time and got me outside.
Good luck! It DOES get better! once J starts smiling and laughing you will be doing everything you can all the time to get him to smile more at you.
