I’m so disgusted by the defense of him from the left. The progressive moms group I’m in is all gross about their support of him. FROM OTHER WOMEN. They are all okay with this. I just feel like throwing in the towel on politics.
NPR this morning was talking to a woman who had him as a major leader on legislation. I was impressed that she said, although he was a great champion of the bill and had wonderful staff on it, that she would defer to what the victims wanted and wasn't going to say either way if he should step down (and that there needed to be an ethics committee investigation).
I haven't followed closely, but from that interview it sounded like the most vocal victim of Franken's said he should stay and work and didn't want him to step down. Is that true?

Someone in a group I'm in insists that there's no corroborating evidence.

Nate Silver went off (well, for Nate Silver) on how piss poor the Ds are handling this whole thing on the 538 podcast yesterday. He pointed out that Pelosi was in all likelihood being wishy-washy about Conyers on MTP because she knows there's potentially more and grosser to still come out about others. They actually had a really good discussion overall; it was refreshing to hear people who are clearly as pissed off and disgusted by it all as I am, and think they all need to go regardless of party.
I heard a clip of him speaking on the radio. The quote was something along the lines of: "I'm open to making amends, knowing this will be a process. And the process starts here today, with my getting back to work"
Um. wut? I'm open to making amends, and I'm dictating the terms of those amends by saying that my continuing to occupy this place of trust and authority are part of the process. THE FUCK YOU SAY??? I was actually kinda ambivilent on the idea of his resigning vs. investigating or whatever, but that REALLY made me think maybe he does just need to step back. Pro-tip to all fuckhead men: YOU.ARE.REPLACEABLE. You are not god's gift to us all, the only person capable of doing what you do. Jesus H. Christ.
Yeah see all these men want second chances to do the right thing. Not to be a broken record but how many women have had no chances or gave up their chance because this political environment is so sexually toxic to women thanks to behaviors like his?
