This is actually the one thing I liked from the other place.
I'm working very slowing through A Clash of Kings (2nd GoT book). I'm really liking it, I just wish I had more time to read it, dang grad school gets in the way of everything!
Yay! I hoped we'd do this. It's always nice to see what everyone's reading and have an easy thread for new and shy people to post in.
I'm reading Moloka'i by Alan Brennert and Jane Eyre. Both are good, but are taking some time because I'm really busy and I can't always read Moloka'i at lunch due to some of the descriptions.
I'm reading Blood Work: A Tale of Medicine and Murder in the Scientific Revolution. It is slow going for me because talking about blood makes me quesy but I really wanted to hear how the author solved a 17th century murder while researching the book.
I also started Wuthering Heights.
I loved Moloka'i. It was so sad. Have you read Honolulu by Alan Brennert? I thought Moloka'i was much better.

I finished both Columbine and Michelle Moran's Nefertiti last night, and I started up Pretty Little Liars this morning, because it has to go back to the library. (Yes, I know. But that show is addictive!) I've got Lady Almina and the Real Downton Abbey waiting for me at the library, so I'm hoping to whip through PLL quickly so I can return & pick up in one fell swoop.

feedthecrocs --- I LOVED Steve Irwin! I miss him so hard. His uber-positive outlook on everything was so refreshing, even if it made him seem slightly crazy at times. Thank you for your avatar pic.
I've never heard of X-Men and Philosophy, but I loved X-Men as a teen. Are you liking it? I just read the Amazon summary, and it seems interesting.
I'm only a chapter or so in but so far I like it. It asks the hard questions like "What does it mean to be human?" or "Who wouldn't want to be a mutant?" and explains the philosophy behind the questions with theories from real philosophers (John Locke, etc.) and examples from X-Men (Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, etc.)
I'd recommend!
This sounds awesome. I'll have to add it to my tbr list.
It's a trashy romance novel set on an Antarctic cruise ship. Six months ago, I was on an Antarctic cruise ship with a bunch of single people, and it was definitely a 24-hour soap opera, so I thought this would be a fun read.
I'm only 25 pages in, but I want to slap both the main characters. They're all "Boo hoo! We're stuck working on this stupid boat in stupid Antarctica when we'd rather be somewhere else!" Ummm... I got pretty close with a few of the people who worked on our ship, and even though they did spend a lot of time trying to get laid, they also really loved Antarctica and had fought tooth and nail for their jobs. "Meh, who cares about whales when there's a firey redhead over there?" is not at all realistic.

I am reading Poet Prince by Kathleen McGowan. This is a re-read. I'm kind of in the air about new reading. I've pretty much exhausted my supply of to-read books that was in my book case.
I am almost finished with Insurgent, then I am going back to Ready Player One.
I am also finished with Insurgent. I read Ready Player One a little while ago and really enjoyed it. I loved all the 80s references. Did you watch Community last night? It reminded me a little of that too.
Once I'm done with Insurgent (tonight or tomorrow) I am starting A Clash of Kings.
I'm also supposed to read The Art of Fielding. Anyone read that?
Still trying to finish Catherine the Great. It's been slow going since I've been teleworking most of the week and I read mostly on my commute and during lunch break.
But I'm not complaining, I love being able to drink an extra cup of coffee and watch the Today show in my pajamas, while working!

I'm about half through 50 Shades Darker.
I'm so mad that I trusted my (normally smart when it come sto books) friends and bought the triolgy. I'm going to read all three because I refuse to waste the money, lol.

haha! I'm about a quarter of the way through it, and I totally agree with you... I cant NOT finish something once I've started it, even if it is awful!
The other book I'm in the midst of is Chesapeake by James Michener. I love his writing and historical buildup, but it takes me forever to get through them. I cant sit down and read it for long without mixing in something else!
I'm reading The Magicians, by Lev Grossman. I saw Lev Grossman interview John Green in person a few weeks ago, and Green said how he was a fan of Grossman's novels.
I'm about half way through, and so far, I recommend it. I keep hearing it described as "adult Harry Potter" and it's kind of true. It's about a guy who attends a magical college vs. a magical prep school. In America vs. in England. But so far there have been references to Thestrals and Time Turners. :-) I like it.

I  loved  Michelle Moran's Egyptian collection.
I started The Next Always by Nora Roberts but between this site and getting the house ready for DH to come home I am not reading as much.
