Tonight is open gym for DD. I tried getting out of it but I got this "Mom, I haven't seen my friends in forever we have to go"...the joys of having friends from different schools and you only see each other at the gym.
Saturday maybe a riding lesson. Sunday we are celebrating my dad's 60th b-day (he is only turning 27) with homemade pizza and cake. I also have the Costco shopping, laundry, prepping for the next week, house chores, etc.
It's freezing and considering all the activity over the holidays and next weekend is booked up, I should enjoy curling up in front to the fire and watching old tv shows or read a good book.
However since the kids came along and the constant activity of the last several years, I no longer know how to enjoy downtime and will be looking for something to do by Sunday.
We may go to the zoo tomorrow. It’s supposed to be 60 and sunny. So excited!!! Sunday, nothing. And Monday school starts again, which is going to suck for both kids.
Since we finally cleared the temps in the teens and 20s I am coming out of hibernation (kind of, I still drove the kids to school this morning because 27 was a bit much for this Southerner).
Friends over for dinner tonight.
Playing games tomorrow with the smaller kids after dropping oldest to a friend’s house, then DS has a party and girls see their Dad. DS will be dropped to a sitter because DH and I are doing a fancy dinner out for NY resolutions.
Sunday DD has a soccer game, then I have a gender reveal, DH is taking DS to a party then DD has church. So excited for a normal weekend!
I was hoping to hunker down and not leave the house, but DD1 has a basketball game. I thought about trying to get a sitter for a date night with DH, but dinner out at -5F before wind chill sounds miserable. So, probably just run to the game and back in to sit by the fire. DH leaves on a business trip on Sun.
It's not supposed to get above freezing this weekend, so we'll probably stay in. DS has a haircut scheduled for tomorrow, and we'll probably make cookies. Beyond that? Meh. I might take down the Christmas trees; I didn't do that over break since I was sick.
Ugh Christmas. We have parties through New Years Day so I leave them up and then it seems nearly impossible to get them down. I need a drill sergeant to come here tomorrow and yell at me until I do this.

DH has a holiday party tonight, so he and I are going to that, and my parents are going to take care of the kids.
Saturday morning I'm going to sleep in (like until 7:30, nothing crazy), because it will probably be the last Saturday I'll be able to do that for a long time. I need to do some cleaning in the morning. Early afternoon I'm taking DD to open gym and will get to catch up with my good friend while our DDs do gymnastics. Then I might take the kids to open skate at the indoor ice rink by our house.
Sunday is church and then the afternoon is free. I'll probably have to go to the grocery store in the afternoon, though.

Saturday is my long overdue cut and color, then DDs basketball game, DDs haircut and somewhere in there, grocery shopping.
Sunday could be two basketball games if DDs team wins Sat. Then, laundry, football and I’m really hoping to get an outdoor run in. We will be in the 30s after 2-3 weeks of single digit and less/teen temps. I’ll also have to get my act together for the start of school again. I’m happy the kids are going back but that also means making lunches, after school activities, etc. I’m not mentally there yet even though I want my house to myself again.

DH is working tonight so the kids and I are just hanging out at home. After they go to bed, I'll have a wild night of meal planning and grocery ordering while I sip on some mules.
DS starts basketball tomorrow. It's just a 4 week fundamentals camp that lasts an hour. After we are probably going to exchange his duplicate Christmas gifts (kid got 3 sets of one set of Cars legos and 2 of another set of Cars legos. Neither of which were the actual Cars legos I put on his lists for family) for one single higher priced gift. That's the plan anyways, so we'll see what happens when we actually get to the store. The rest of the day I want to dedicate to painting my laundry shelf DH made me so I can get it in the laundry room and start transforming the mudroom. I also need to do some meal prep if I get groceries ordered for Saturday pick up.
DH works Sunday. So, depending on how much of the transformation I get done, the kids and I will go to my mom's. If I don't get very far, then I'll have my mom come up so I can focus on that.
I'm getting together for lunch with two of my good friends. We haven't seen each other in months, so I"m really looking forward to it! Especially since it's just at a friend's house, not out to a restaurant or anything. Should be a relaxing, catch up kind of day.
We're also babysitting my niece overnight tomorrow. Normally I'd be totally into it, but my own children have been sucking at sleeping this week, so the thought of a baby overnight is not that exciting. Fingers crossed she sleeps through and is good. She's generally an easy baby but has been teething lately.
Otherwise, just lots of laundry and catch up on chores from the holidays.
I got the job. I am so excited. And it pays enough that I can only have 1. I may pick up a few hours extra here and there but I won't have to work so many. Yeah.
Accepted the offer today and gave my notice this afternoon. Now to get through the next two weeks.
I still cannot talk well but I am going to tough it out tonight. I only work 4 hours for the call center so it shouldn't be to bad, but I do work 8 tomorrow for them. Gotta keep my through lubricated. LOL
Nothing much planned for the weekend other than working. Hoping to take down Christmas. I don't know what the cat is going to do with herself since that has been her fun for the last month. Tearing up our decorations.
With my luck we will have a stomach bug. DD brought a friend home who feels like she is going to throw up. It’s been 50 minutes and ... her parents aren’t here yet. Stressing! I feel bad for her and also feel like I need to Lysol the air when she leaves.
H had to work a 24 hour shift yesterday And he works all weekend And he works Sunday night
So I'm solo.
Saturday: gym 8-9:45 Shlep all the kids to fencing 10:30-1 but takes the littles to Michaels for frames and a Korean market for cool new fruits we've never seen, in between Come home and collapse at 2
Sunday: maybe if the wind chill is better I'll ask my parents to watch the kids and get a long run in.
I'm starting Renaissance Periodization again, so some food prep on Sunday. Also, I haven't done the big kids' CCD/Home Study (Sunday School) in like 4 weeks so I need to do that. Oops!
DH is coaching DD's basketball team and the first game is this morning. I will probably go visit my dad tomorrow. I am hoping it's not too much to push my luck to also see Star Wars this afternoon alone (DH and DD saw it over Christmas while I was on strike).

I have a Saturday doctors appointment today because I have been having the WORST stomach cramps that I am convinced are inflammation due to running. Unfortunately I woke up without the cramping for the first time in a while, of course. But I'm going anyway.
DD has gymnastics for the first time in 2 weeks and she's excited about that.
I have a long run scheduled for Sunday. The last one before the half next week...hopefully my stomach issues stay away.
Other than that, we need to take down Christmas decorations. I also need to do some serious laundry. Hoorah.
DH is currently upstairs singing lullabies to our 8 month old niece to sooth her back to sleep. My husband might drive me crazy, but man I love that guy. He is so good with babies.

My productive day turned into a busy day since we have officially entered the birthday party chapter of parenthood. It was a last minute invite so the socially awkward person in me almost didn't even tell DS, but we both needed it and he had fun, even though he mostly played alone. Oh well.
2chatter and mommyatty I’ve been humming along for actual years now thinking you are both in Texas. Is that not true? I know TX is a large state, but I am confused how one of you has temps in the 60s and one of you has temps in the teens.
DD is back to being the best player on the worst team. 28-8 but it was Mercy rule and probably more like 50-8. DD scored 4 of our 8. DH is coaching and I think he thought it would be better, but DD is the only kid who has played this sport in a team before. I wish the league would randomly assign coaches, or try to balance experienced and inexperienced kids on teams like they did when I was a kid. WTF with coaches recruiting in 2nd grade on rec teams?
I also went to the Star Wars movie alone yesterday. Heaven! Today I'll visit my dad at his nursing home for the first time. I'm pretty nervous.
shakinros, we both are, and not far from each other. Our weather has been insane. We went from a high of 28 to a high of 68 in 3 or 4 days. Yesterday was our first beautiful day in a long time. Today it’s back to overcast, rainy, and pretty cold. I’m glad we hit the window for an outside outing!

akafred, sounds like DS' soccer team, which I coached. It was brutal. The bad part was, although we did get better, the other teams did also and so we never really saw good score board improvement. Hopefully that's not the case and this is just a one off. It really put me off coaching. Although DS loved it.
