This is my first full week of work since mid-December. LOL.
Countertops are getting installed today, which is super exciting. Once that's done, H is planning to put the appliances back where they belong and finish up the plumbing today. Then we'll have a usable kitchen again! We still need to install backsplash and upper shelves and whatnot, but at least we can stop living on takeout while we finish everything up. HALLELUJAH.
Thursday is my mom's birthday. Friday we're spending the afternoon at my Grandma's to celebrate.
I finally startednpainting our stair banister and trim. It took 2.5 hours just to do one coat of primer on half of it. Ugh. I never expected it to take so long
amaranth - We ended up investing in a paint sprayer, and the time it saved was so worth the cost. We used it to do all of the primer and two coats of paint, then finished by rolling on one last coat of paint to even everything out.

I thought of that but couldn't imagine it working on the banister unless we uninstalled everything. The other pieces don't come off the wall so I think by hand is the only viable option

It's supposed to snow a bunch today but it hasn't started yet. Hoping it stays south of us. Not that I need to go anywhere but I worry about H and E when the roads are crappy!
This is the last week of the first semester at school and I'm simultaneously anxious and excited. My schedule has been nice with a lot of down time and it's about to get super busy with almost no down time. But, I'm hoping that means the second half of the year will fly by and get us closer to summer!
My plan this week is to decorate our mantel. It just has a bunch of random picture frames right now and looks terrible. I know I need something tall on either end but every time I go into a Home Goods store I get overwhelmed and leave with nothing.

Today- bagels/coffee/grocery shopping, run, random chores Tuesday- Disneyland with my parents Wednesday- run and chores Thursday- run Friday- DH is off for bereavement (Monday and Tuesday next week as well). Might go to the zoo. Saturday- DH will be in San Diego for a golf tournament with his BFF Sunday- family day
Regular work week. I don't think I have a single appointment or event on the calendar! Maybe try to get caught up on some house cleaning. I am making dinner to take to a friend's family on Thursday. DIY taco bar.
DS is home with me today on my WFH day since he's recovering from a cold. Still having a relatively productive day which is nice.
Weather is beautiful and supposed to be above freezing all week. Last week one of our drain lines froze. We were able to pinpoint the issue so at least we know how to fix it in the future. There's a special pipe heater that is a long term fix, but we'll live on the edge for now

Oof. That really stinks! How many layers are you thinking you'll need to do? What color(s) did you decide on?
Not exciting here. Our regular weekly outings and C has a check up on Friday.
I wanted to go to an open house near us yesterday but the timing just didn't work out. I'm impatient to really start looking because I want to work on making a place home. We try with rentals but we still have signs & pictures that we haven't hung up and at this point we're like "Well if we move in the fall, what's the point?" DH also keeps using as an excuse to not buy new furniture.

We've lived in our house for over two years and we're still working on making it feel like a home! I think we just got so used to living in rentals that even after we bought our house we stayed in the same mindset. It's only been in the past six months or so that we've really started to settle in and unpack ten years worth of stuff we've never bothered to unpack in our shorter-term living situations.

This morning I took my daughter for her first haircut. We've been home since. It's almost 60 degrees (!) today and my husband left work early (yay!), so now we're going to go for a walk around the neighborhood.
Not much going on tomorrow. I work W-F this week. Hoping to get our Christmas tree down this week! It's the last bit of Christmas decorations that is still out. We got all the outdoor ones down yesterday.
IT at work is trying to block Facebook....or thought they could. They ask me if I have an account...and if I DID, could I try logging in. (Really? Can't you see if I've logged in or not already? Which I clearly have already....)
This is the first week H will be working all 5 days since the week before Christmas. I got used to him being home ab extra day.
We're going bowling on Saturday for my mom's birthday. We'll probably only get one game in because there's so many of us, but I'm looking forward to it.
katespade It needs 1-2 coats primer, and 2 coats normal paint. I've used this system throughout the house so I know it works well, but it isn't quick In less trafficked areas I just do one coat of each, but this is probably going to be touched more than any other wood in the house. Lol.
Can I complain about a first world problem for a minute? We've had no internet at home for 10 DAYS. The company was also installing TV for us and giving us an upgrade. When doing so, they messed something up. Because our remote location wasn't serviced during the ice last week, they wouldn't come see about the problem. They were supposed to come out today and didn't. I am able to log on using my phones hot spot on the internet.....but not for long. Grr.
Also, I don't know how to be politically correct when talking about this. But my Mom hasn't been taking what she needs to and we're all seeing weird patterns from her. Don't know what's appropriate to say in this instance other than, "thanks for letting me get that out."
I was supposed to get my certification results today, but they weren't in my mail. I checked my address on the organization' site and it was WRONG. Now I probably won't know my results for another week. Ugh! I am so anxious!

Well we didn't get any snow but down by my parents they got at least 10"! They're only 90 miles away. My FB feed is flooded with posts about snow but nothing here!

H's bday is next Monday so he is having a bday party this weekend. Our house is mostly ready and I will finish the big stuff on Wedneasay which is my day off.
Otherwise nothing exciting here. I am feeling pretty tired this week and it is only monday.
I totally clicked on a Facebook ad and bought the product. LOL. I feel so dumb for giving in, but it seemed like something my husband would love. They're beef jerky roses in a beer mug for valentine's day. Quirky and unique. We don't even usually do anything, but I had them mailed to his office as a fun surprise. Lord knows he works hard enough and can use a pick me up
We put a HVAC repair on a 0% credit card back in October. This past weekend, I finally got around to reconciling our accounts and transferring the money to pay off the repair. Guess what broke again today??? Bye bye money...
