Career day at school. I managed to bum a lab coat, stethoscope, ect. .. from coworkers for Dd so she could be a pediatrician. Pretty cute. And I managed to change my sheets before work since I forgot this weekend. Made me feel productive already.

I'm at work, DH is home with a sick boy. I'm guessing it's the flu since we got an email this morning from the school nurse that his class has one or more confirmed cases of Influenza A. The list of symptoms all match his (fever, fatigue, dry cough, headache) minus the muscle aches. Thank god there's no vomiting. Now to hang out and wait for DD, DH, and I to get it.
I bit it at CrossFit this morning doing a box jump. I missed the box with my left foot and took a huge long chunk out of my shin. It's still bleeding (5 hours later) and apparently we don't have a First Aid kit at work so that I can change the bandage. The roads are shit and I really don't want to leave the office to run to CVS. I'm just pissy all around.
DH is in town today and tonight unexpectedly. He’s already thrown things off and complained about the dinner plan (sandwiches and soup because the younger two have gymnastics). He legit asked why I don’t come home and make dinner during their classes (A: because it takes 20 minutes to go less than a mile at 6:00 heading the 1.5 miles to gymnastics).
So he’s now “working late”. Ie eating out solo. Must be nice MFer!
New braces quote for DD - $7K. But no chaining and dragging - so less pain at more cost. Worth it with her autonomic stuff AND with exh paying at least half. Having an exh is kind of like having a coupon.
We went to an open house yesterday. It was a flip that would be at the very top of our budget. I didn't like any of the finishes and there were a lot of "well, this is a shitty flip" flaws that were glaringly obvious. Like this one.. notice anything odd about the upper kitchen cabinets?
k3am I don’t know that I could reach those cabinets? We looked at a really bad flip. Fast forward four years. BFF knows the family that lives in it and they have had so many issues! The flip next door to us was also shady. Avoid if you can!

k3am, me! me! Is it because the one is above the stairs? That would be great for a tall person who is frustrated with everything being so easy to grab all the time.

I'm still working out. I'm on week 4 or something. My kids are finally old enough to not need me for 30 minutes and to not try to throw themselves or something else onto the treadmill. I've also learned a thing or two about bribing my kids...

I remember that being quite the milestone in my fitness journey.

I foresee a few sprained/broken ankles in the future of whoever buys this place. Why in the world would someone start stairs where there are still cabinets?

We had a great weekend - a good mix of active and relaxation time.
We had DS's friend's family over for pizza and it went well - thanks for everyone who helped! If anyone is bored, I updated my original "Help me be more social" thread with more questions
DH is out of town for the next 4 days, so I'm not looking forward to that. DD has been incredibly cranky, so that'll be fun

k3am, is it the tall cabinets? Confession: we had cabinets that go all the way to the ceiling in our old house. I intentionally built them that way so that there is no weird "gap" between the cabinets and the ceiling - I was paranoid that the gap would gather lots of dust. I could never reach the top, but just wanted the look.
traveltheworld , actually the tall cabinets aren't the issue. I actually prefer they go all the way to the ceiling for extra storage. We did the same in our kitchen - stuff we rarely use, I store up high and use the step stool. Small house problems.
The handles for the cabinets are installed in the middle. I had trouble reaching those alone.
Plus covergirl82 points out he cabinets that start in the middle of a step...
They also had this lovely indoor BBQ in a questionable "sunroom" addition. It looks nice, but it really wasn't... That my friends is not a TV, it's a BBQ.

DH and DS came down with colds on Friday, so DD and I did all the errands so they could stay home and rest. Thankfully it is just colds, and not influenza or a stomach virus. (Sorry about your DS, sweetptater . Hope he recovers quickly and everyone else stays healthy!)
DS is trying out for a travel little league team tonight. This is probably awful of me to say, but I kind of hope he doesn't get on the team. I'm not looking forward to more practices and games for him this spring.
ETA: I forgot, I do have a celebration. With the tax changes, DH and I now have about $160 more in take-home pay each pay period, so that is exciting. For now I'm putting it into savings, but will use it for continuing to pay down debt after DH gets his bonus at the end of March. (DH's bonus will pay off the truck, truck tires, and furniture. After that, we're going to pay at least double payments on my car to get that paid off next year.)

k3am, I don't see an indoor BBQ passing inspection. Plus, isn't that a carbon monoxide issue? Don't people die in the cold from bring their BBQs indoors?
It's so quiet in my office today all alone. I'm enjoying it. The work group that I work with but am not a part of is all a buzz today. It's day 4 with a new 2nd line and he's making big changes right away. Many of these changes are BTDT, didn't work, but it's fun to watch it happen.

Is it missing a handle too or is that just the picture angle?

It's kind of different from bringing a BBQ inside since it does have a dedicated vent outside, so similar to a fireplace. But weird. I imagine it passed inspection since here you do the inspections prior to listing your house.

I think it's just the angle... the showing agent was very annoyed when DH and I sat there in the kitchen wondering WTF they had done wrong. There were so many things that were just... not right. And to know that it will definitely sell and for way over list is terrifying. (Because.. I mean, we'll need to buy something)
k3am, I'm trying to imagine why I would want to grill food in my house like that. Wouldn't it make the whole room stink like grill smoke? Do not want my sun room stinking like a Burger King...

Exactly. It just makes no sense. None at all. I was just baffled by most of the house. I mean, it's not Winchester Mystery house to the point they could sell tickets, but serious oddities were happening...
Although, we once toured a house that had an enclosed soaking bathtub in the front of the house. With a HUGE window on one side that had a view of... a toilet. And a window (no coverings) that overlooked the front patio. So I guess there are weirder things.

We once looked at a house where you walked from the garage into the master bedroom... And the pool in the yard had been filled in with concrete. DH was convinced it was a mob boss who needed to be ready for late night escapes and that bodies were buried in the pool.
Our starter home price range returned some really special choices.
I am seriously questioning our decision to sell. A lot. At this point, I'm convinced it's going to be the worst mistake of our lives.
I also have a lot of anxiety about DD right now. We should be doing her post-surgery MRI in early March. I'm terrified of what the results will bring. (Apparently, the official term for this is scanxiety, and it's a real thing.) And this will, of course, be after we've sold our house and are working on not being nomads.
We stayed close to home this weekend so we could prep the gameroom for the new infrared fireplace that was delivered today. I'm excited that the kids will have a warm playroom that they will want to stay in instead of tearing apart the rest of the house.
And I have an update on MIL: She is still in the hospital in a regular room now. The chest tube is still in and has drained 2.5 L of fluid from her lung. Bloodwork/analysis of the fluid indicated cancer. On Saturday, MIL refused any further testing to locate the cancer. She also refused a procedure on her lung to prevent another fluid buildup. On Sunday, DH went to see her. She seemed to be in a good mood. DH wasn't allowed to ask about the cancer since MIL was mad at FIL for telling DH about it. Today, DH got a call from FIL to say that she agreed to testing and the procedure. The doctors found a mass in her GI tract that looks like an ulcer that became cancerous. A biopsy was taken and the results should be back on Wednesday. She'll also get her chest tube out on Wednesday. I'm really hoping that the biopsy results are as best as they can be for this situation. She is diabetic, has kidney and heart problems and does not take good care of herself. I don't think she could handle a lot of chemo.

I think this is totally normal and I’d be a nutcase. I think you have handled both kids medical things amazingly well and are a rockstar. Sending you lots of prayers for strength and timing and good news only! . You deserve it!
My first home purchase was a home in which the front door entered the guest bathroom. It had a frosted glass window and the best shower (dual head, one was a low water rainwater) so I just got used to anyone who came to the door being able to maybe see my outline through the glass. It was on a mountain in a rainforest so a pretty crunchy area and I wrote real estate copy on the side - our house was far from the only one with quirks.
